Vlad took off like a shot. He was flying, literally in some cases where he jumped things. Vlad had never even come close to this speed in human form, and hadn't really tried for speed yesterday. Still, though, Writ was right there next to him the whole way. Vlad couldn't see Writ, or much else, but all his senses screamed that they were neck and neck.

Vlad le out a few barks of excitement. This was more fun than just about anything else he had ever done. When Vlad listened, he heard Writ's claws clacking just a little faster, just a little out front, so he hunkered closer to the ground and sped up even more. He was just a big, black blur to those that saw him. Vlad caught up to and went ahead of Writ, by a nose. Vlad forgot about everything else but running. Something about this seemed right.

"Yes, this will prepare you for hunting. Exercise your mind and body, young pup," came the growling voice of Fenrir in his head. Vlad was ore than willing to comply if it felt this good all the time.

Writ was dashing about the crowd, swiftly weaving left and right between the legs, trash cans and pillars. Vlad seemed to have a knack for running, because they were both neck and neck through the stretch.

The Coyote led the race through one of the circus tents.

It wasn't anything special really, just where the elephants were kept.

When the two fuzzy bullets went around the legs of the giant gray mammals, they got a bit... spooked.

Okay, massive understatement.

The elephants charged right out of the tent, which suddenly collapsed on the people inside. There was general panic, turmoil, and disorder to the highest degree, but the two just kept running by, barely getting out before the tent fully collapsed. If Writ could, he would've smiled.

Coyote, on the other hand, was literately howling with laughter, Cute kid, cute.

Okay, so there was that inner worry that he could've hurt a whole bunch of people with that little prank, but hey, who cares? He was happy, he was running, and he was winning. Writ wasn't going to have that let him down right now. Come on, they're huge, they're not that hard to avoid.

Vlad was having more fun than he had in a very long time. Vlad had never had alot of friends. The pointy teeth might have had something to do with that, but none of that mattered now. Now Vlad knew that there were people out there that were like him, he had in fact met and befriended some.

Vlad kept speeding on, refusing to give up, to lose to Writ. Vlad's mind kept going on and on and on......his body...yeah, not so mush. Vlad was not used to all this, having only had this body for two days. His legs were screaming, lungs burning, tail flying wildly again.

'I really need to take care of zat tail sing zat keeps happening,' thought Vlad. Vlad started to slow, not alot, but enough for Writ to pull out just ahead. As the two came to the finish, Vlad collapsed in a big panting pile of fur and legs.

Vlad retook human form after a minute when he was sure nobody was looking in his direction. "Vell, you beat me, Writ. Fair and sqvare," huffed Vlad, starting to stand.

Writ had collapsed right in front of Vlad woozily. Phew! he's never had to run that fast before. All the energy in his four legs were spent as he lazily plopped down on his side. Claws turned back to nail, fur retreated to skin, and Writ got back on his two feet, panting over the sounds of two Elephants wrecking havoc in the carnival. Elephant trumpets, screams, and crashes of tents and rides, Writ ears barely heard it from all of his panting.

"Yeah.... good... game." Writ gave Vlad a thumbs up, and laughed.

He went to the side of the path and plopped down on the ground.

"Vlad, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship."

"Yes Writ, I believe it is!" Exclaimed Vlad, trying in vain to catch his breath. Vlad turned his head towards the carnage....er....carnival, or what was left of it and grimced.

The image that Vlad saw was not good. Tents had collapsed, elephants were loose, midgets were running amok....Ok, so maybe the midgets thing was funny, and Vlad was fairly certain that he and Writ had nothing to do with that particular event, but still.....Vlad couldn't help but feel responsible.

"Uhhhh.....Writ....I sink zat it vood be best for us if ve got out of here. Do you have anyvere zat ve could go? A hideout maybe?"

Before he could answer Vlad helped him up and away as some midgets came their way.

Writ looked at the aftermath. He kept his smile on the inside.

"What's wrong? We didn't do anything." Writ said innocently. He shrugged in the rabble of flying midgets, rampaging animals, and cries of, "MY LEG!!!" and giggled to himself. The mischievous godling was practically skipping along the sidewalk as he went down to Middling. Normally, Writ had fun with things that involved less destruction, but hey, he was in a good mood, and he had a tendency to do some crazy things when he was in a good mood.

"I know this great cafe we can go to." He pointed forward, "Let's roll."

Vlad blinked a few times, then sighed and started to trudge off in the direction Writ was going. Vlad was pretty tired, but the idea of food and drink greatly, making his ears perk up and tail to wag. Writ's comments had unnerved Vlad some, more the way he said it, than what he had said, but whatever.

"So, Writ, vere is zis cafe, and do zey have good food? I've not eaten anysing ozer zan scraps in a few days."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 24, 2007 4:04 pm

If Writ had a tail, it would be wagging too.

"You bet! Best food anywhere!"

Okay, that could be taken with a little bias, it was his parents' cafe after all. He went into the crowded restaraunt and ordered a hot chocolate and a ham sandwich from the girl working there now. Just like his parents, they always left during the lunch hour. Breakfast was always busy, and they really couldn't stand the fact they would have to cater to another rush hour as well.

Good for Writ though, he didn't want to reveal himself to them... Yet.

"What are you getting Vlad?"

When Vlad walked into the wonderful establishent that Writ had taken the two of them two, and when he came in, Vlad would have sworn that he had heard angels in the background singing a heavenly song at that moment. When he realized that there was singing, he looked around and saw a few people looking at some musical scores and working on their harmony. Vlad looked at them for a moment when he heard that Writ was speaking to him.

Vlad didn't know what to have, it all smelled sooo good. As a response, he pulled out a faded wallet from his back pocket, pulled out a wad of cash, went to the girl, put it in front of her and said, "Sree mocha's, and however many ham sandvishes zis vil get me!" Vlad was doing some quick math and saw that it was around six. Good. He was hungry.

Writ stared at Vlad, and with a smug look, Vlad said "I run avay alot. My family iz rich and duz care, even if zey don't show it. Zey make sure I'm vell off." Writ kept staring.

They sat down at a table. "Damn Vlad, you eat more than I do." Writ's eyes were wide open. This kid sure was full of surprises, and from the way he was wolfing down those sandwiches (Heh, Wolf, Get it?) Full of food too. There was the cash he had as well. Writ's been getting by alright without too much cash. Still. Damn... That was a whole lotta money.

"What do your parents do? Again?" Writ chewed on his lone sandwich.

He sipped his hot chocolate, Crow had fifty bucks to pay a messenger, Vlad had enough for six sandwiches and a mocha. Seth was probably loaded too, being an Uppers kid. Was he the only player that was living on soccer cleat money alone? He would've patted himself on the back for being resourceful for so long, but being poor didn't seem to be something to be proud of.

Vlad tried to say things between bites, but they came out as indecipherable sounds that were....well, indecipherable. When Vlad had scarfed down four of his ham sandwiches and chugged two of the mochas, he stopped a moment and looked back to Writ, plopping one of the two remaining sandwiches on Writ's plate. "Yes, yes I do. I hav eaten like zis for az long az I can remember. My mozer is a bizness woman, and my fazer vorks for the government. My aunt and uncle...vell...zey make good money, too, zo not qvite az much. And you vill take ze sandvish. It iz ze least I can do for you. Vot about your family, Writ? Vot do zey do?"

"My family?" Writ looked to the counter, "They run a resteraunt around here, nothing special."

He took another bite of his sandwich, "Ran away from them when I found out I was in the game. There's a lot of people after kids like us" He took one last gulp of his drink and put the mug down, "Other players, Blacksuits, monsters... Just don' want my parents in the crossfire, you know?"

"Thanks." Writ said, taking Vlad's sandwich and starting on it, "Gods, it's been a while since I had some good food."

Vlad finished the scrap of sandwich left in his hand, and piled the last dish on top of the others. He let out a contented sigh and cleaned his teeth with his new, sharp nails.

At Writ's words, Vlad stopped an looked over at the odd teen. Vlad said, in a calm voice, "I know ozer players vant us ded, but vut are zeez 'blacksuits', and vot kinds of monsters do you speek of?" In Vlad's mind, there were howls and growls, portraying Fenrir's take on Writ's words.

Fenrir also said, before he subsided, "I've worked out a kind of truce between the boy's god, Coyote, myself, and two others. Tell him, if his god hasn't already done so. 'Yes', thought Vlad, 'I will, in good time.'
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 4:55 pm

"Really big, tall guys, Black suit." Writ put his arms out to show him, "Don' know much about them, Fish says they're bad news for us, but I haven't seen them lately." Writ shrugged, "Guess the monsters were after us too, but they're all pretty much dead. All the ghosts and stuff in the news? They were after us. At least that's what I think."

Coyote made a Yes! in Writ's head. Heh, he was teamed up with Loki, and his pet. This game was going to get a whole lot more interesting...

Vlad became increasingly stresses as Writ talked; visions of Vlad'sfather and hs friends kept coming to mind. Vlad calmly sipped the last of his drink and got up to leave, putting a big wad of cash on the table for the cute waitress.

"Sorry, but I must go now, Writ. Oh, some people who smell like you, family I assume, is heading this way." said Vlad, in perfect English, as usually happened when Vlad was very focused. Then Vlad left the little cafe, making note of it's location, and a panicing Writ behind.
