I'll play devil's advocate here, if he feels that this is whats going on, then thats how he feels. Now reading this I see a lot of people trying to sway him with now obscure and rather dull biblical verses. That to me looks like you are trying to force the love of "God" back into him. Now hun, a lot of things in life will get really really cruddy. It will happen to all of us if it hasn't happened already. Things will get better, BUT, you need to work on bettering your life as well. You cannot just sit there and expect things to get better on their own. It never works like that.

And its people like you who cause some to lose faith in many things or to shun the church. Like you never had a crisis of faith? If you don't have one now or ever, just give it time. It will happen. Then when you go through it can you call this guy weak and all that. But don't do it unless you can say that after your own falterings.

Only the weak fall into that trap.

I have had fears, of course, but related to scientific probability rather than "ZOMG my lief suckz so theres no god lol111!"

The weakness comes from assuming that the idea of God means that God must bend to your will and do things for you. That is foolishness and stupidity, and thus anger over such a reason is the epitome of foolishness.

I never said YOU said God is a genie. However, the starter of the thread seems to think so. This is simply not the case.

And people turn from God for their own reasons. If they turn from him for the fact that He doesn't grant wishes, then they are idiots.

Have you ever read Jeremiah 29:11? It goes: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Just keep reminding yourself of this verse, I have had plenty problems myself and my faith grew weak many of times. But each time God is always with me and gets me through the storm. Think of the time of Joseph and how his life was, he never complained not even once through all his trial. And later on he became King of Egypt if I remember. Also you should read James 1:1-18 I believe it could help. When you read it, meditate on it, consume it, and most important; remember it. ... You idiot. Did you listen to a word I said? Do you take context into consideration? Did I sound evangelical? The typical bible-beater may tell you that prayers are rewarded and that God truly wants to bend his knee for you every time you get a boo-boo. I say bullshit. God may care, but he doesn't step in. Seeing a lack of His presence isn't proof of His nonexistence, it's called life.

My message isn't "Pray moar", it's "Don't be surprised if you're just like everyone else- God gives favors to no mortal."

Oh, and I am anti-war as well. In fact, to do you one up, I am also for triunification, the intermingling of the three Abrahamic religions.

And thank you Lordstar, I tend to speak very harshly. I try to use metaphor, but I don't like to beat around the bush too much. It seems I get the most misrepresentation from republicans, in general. Considering how straightforward I think I'm being, I find it odd how many people think I'm saying the opposite of what I really mean.
