~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Magomi once again found herself upon the beach of the water realm. This was a place where she could have some fun. Even the towns were more fun. After all wasn’t fun about standing in the middle of a town and looking up because a great big whale had momentarily blocked out the sun? Smiling she sunk down onto the warm sand happily. She really wanted to take a nap in the warm sands but she would follow her friend. "So what now? Shall we play around a bit or rather start hunting right away?" she asked curiously.
As the two passed through the portal from the Demonic Realm into the Realm of water, the warm, soft sand immediately embraced her feet, every single heated grain from the high sun licking her feet. It was a pleasant feeling, which caused the woman to close her eyes. Her toes moved within her open-toed, wooden shoes, and her eyes slowly closed. It was colder in the Demonic Realm because they were within a shaded wood, but the warm sand... It was such a nice change. A low sigh escaped her lips in relaxation, though her eyes cracked open at the sound of Magomi's voice, which caused her to look down at the girl and smile. That same smile would have been kind and gentle, but now the sword in her possession, the air about Ophelia seemed to change dramatically.
Where now she asked? Ophelia simply looked at the girl before turning to look at the vast amount of water before her. She blinked and stepped forward towards the water's edge. The water lapping up onto the small amount of land reached her toes, and in comparison to the soft, warm sand, the cold fluid which flooded her open shoes caused a shiver to travel up her spine, though she made no gestures to show the chill, and she simply closed her eyes once again.
"Whatever shall we do?" She questioned aloud to the open air. She took in a deep breath then once again, allowed her eyes to slide open. Her head was tilted back, her gaze was blankly upon the clear azure sky overhead, though it shifted to the vast amount of dark water before her. Ophelia blinked, then tilted her head as a rather large shape caught her eye just down the shore. What was it...? A ship? Smiling to herself, the woman turned to the girl next to her, a side-kick if you will, and the smile remained on her face, though it seemed almost wicked. Children enjoyed adventures right? And pirates? Well, what if that ship contained pirates? Kneeling to a height that was closer to the demon child's, Ophelia set her hand gently upon her shoulder, then stretched her remaining arm outwards towards the large object down the short coastline. Her index finger stretched from her fist to reveal a long, elegant ivory finger, and she spoke lowly in what one would call a seductive voice. It was not directed towards the child, obviously, but such a tone seemed to come naturally with a sadistic nature, in which was implemented by the sword.
"Running or hunting? You decide, Magomi." She said slowly with a grin. "I wonder what could be on that pirate ship over there..." She said slowly, her mouth forming each word carefully in a persuasive nature. She sort of doubted that the ship was one owned by a few thieves of the sea, though she did not know, not to mention it may have held some appeal to the girl.
"Shall we go see?"
The ship Ophelia pointed to was not a pirate ship. In fact, it was a merchant vessel that traded between the city on the land and the various cities on the sea floor. But it was easy to see how one could make the mistake of thinking they were pirates. The ship wasn't as large as a large as a typical merchant ship, after all. It was only maybe half as large, but one who had lived in the Realm of Water would know that the reason for this was to make it easier on the mages who allowed the ships to sail underwater. The sides of the ship were also lined with cannons, three on each side, in order to fight off any pirates that might try and take them. And although the men were mercenants, they dressed like the sailors they were so it wasn't as easy to tell them apart from pirates by their clothing alone.
The crew of the ship was quite busy at work at the moment, most likely preparing to head off on another tip. Large men were hurrying about, carrying large boxes, while other men shouted orders, checked the rigging, and performed all the various tasks required to make sure their vessel was sea-worthy before they set sail. The mage of the ship could be seen laying lazily against a railing, since he didn't exactly have the strength for manual labor and because they needed him to preserve his energy for when he would have to submerge the vessel. It wasn't like there were large tunnels leading down to the sea floor. No, they had to go through the sea itself to get that, and that was a task and a half.
One of the men carrying crates seemed to notice Ophelia and Magomi at about the same time that Magomi and Ophelia noticed them. He set the crate down for a moment and shouted up to one of the men giving orders, who leaned over the railing to see what the crate carrier wanted. The man with the crate pointing over at Magomi and Ophelia and shouted something, causing the man on deck to look their way. He shouted one final something down to the crate man, who nodded and carried on with his work, before heading to the man who appeared to be the captain of the ship. The overseer pointed at the two of them, causing the captain to look over a moment, before beginning to talk with them. The two of them then proceeded to argue over something, with the overseer occationally pointing their way.
The small demon child followed the hand that pointed out at the ship with curiosity. She smiled. It was an odd ship and it looked interesting. She smiled. “Hunting please” she said in almost a breathless way. She was obviously enthralled with the idea. But it was also now obvious probably to others more than it was to herself that she was wrapped around Ophelia’s finger and would most likely do whatever her friend wanted.
The sun was warm on her back as she felt her own mussels tense in excitement for the run. It wasn’t that long of a distance but it might be interesting to see what those men were doing. If they were pirates who knew. But perhaps something fun would happen. Shifting in place like a cat ready to pounce she watched the ship for a moment. They were obviously arguing over something but what she didn’t know.
Magomi really wanted to run but she knew even better that running might scare the ‘prey’. Sometimes it was better to pretend to be something much more harmless than what she was to see what was going on.
So she started running forwards. But she made sure that she kept well within the speed limits for her age and height. She carefully calculated her steps so that her feet sank into the sand giving her that sense of childish awkwardness. Smiling she looked like a shy peaceful happy child. With her blond hair shimmering in the sun. smiling and giggling she called back to add to the effect. “Ophelia, come on!” she played the part perfectly.
Ophelia simply smiled as Magomi stared at the ship almost longingly. It was rather humorous, but it was also a response that she desired for the demon child to have. Embark on an adventure that involved danger and goodies at the end? Sure, what kind of child wouldn't want that? Ophelia enjoyed the company of the girl, for she was young and foolish, and with youth came ignorance. It was something Ophelia wished she could still be like, for ignorance is bliss, right? Intelligent girls are more depressed because they know what the world is really like...
"Haha, slow down Magomi." She called out the child who seemed to be playing a very childish role. Perhaps she was more intelligent then she thought... Demons generally looked younger than the average human, did they not? For all she knew, this girl could be many, many years older than she actually was. Regardless, she closed her eyes and released a small exhale, as if in amusement, then began walking after her with a slow pace. She did not look clumsy or awkward like Magomi did, but she would also take a bit more time reaching the ship.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." She said, another sound of laughter escaping her lips. However, her eye seemed to be drawn back to the men on the ship. What were they arguing about? Loud, obnoxious, yet indistinguishable voices were heard from down the coast, and their vague figures pointing out at the two women.
"Magomi, be careful." She said to the girl in a voice that sounded overly protective, as if this girl was a blood-related relative. Her voice, however, was low enough so her speaking would not be heard from the distance between them and the ship. Who know what they were thinking, why they were pointing and why they were arguing. Sure, they did, but she didn't. As they closed the space between themselves and the boat, Ophelia rose her hand to cover the clasp pinned to her clothing. She sighed as she felt the corner of her lip curl up into a bit of a grin. What for, she did not know, but it seemed to be an instinct of sorts.
The two men argued with each other for a few moments before before the captain seemed to give up and brushed the other man away, who went back to his work of telling the others to do their work. The captain, who was easily recognizable as the only one wearing an actual shirt, proceeded then to watch them as they approached until they got close enough to actually hear what the overseers were shouting to the men below clearly. "Hey you there!" the captain called, waving at Ophelia. "You two wouldn't happen to be headed to the capital city of Molindars, would you?!" he asked with an almost hopeful look on his face.
Not knowing the underground cities by name was a slight hindrance but it seemed like a good idea at the time. “Yeah!” she said brightly. She let a hopeful look alight on her face. Finding pirates was one thing but also tricking them into getting an easy ride as well! How perfect. It would take much less effort than if she was to get them to the bottom. She couldn’t help but be happy at the ability to be lazy. “We don’t have any money to pay but if we could catch a ride that would be wonderful!” she said happily letting the relief go into her voice.
"Well I can't just let you two ride for free." the captain said with a small chuckle as he hopped off the edge of the boat and landed heavily in the sand below. The angel that they were standing to him before had made him look taller than usual, but even now that he was on their level he was still abnormally tall. "We don't make a living giving away freebies. But we will trade services." he said as he approached them. His eyes, which were a brilliant shade of blade, stared down at them as he crossed his hands over his navy colored shirt. "You two ever hear of the dread pirate Malange? Captain of the Pheonix?" the captain asked, looking between the two of them.
Magomi paused for moment thinking. “Yes, I have met him before. He was a real jerk face when I was here last. He didn’t want to play at all. How boring” Magomi said pouting a little. “What would you want with a jerk face?” she asked tipping her head to the side in a curious fashion. Though it was mostly for her own benefit for she was practically looking straight up at the tall man. And by tipping her head like that she used his tallness to block out the sun so she could see.
Ophelia merely stood by and watched the conversation take place between the two. It's not like she could tell Magomi what to do firstly, and secondly, she hadn't the slightest clue about what they were speaking about. However, when the captain began to speak referring to a man whom she had never heard of (mind you, Magomi seemed to know), Ophelia parted her lips to speak, though she refrained when Magomi began a rapid fire of words at the captain. Blinking, Ophelia looked at the man, then to the ship behind him, then referred to how he spoke of the so-called 'dread' pirate Malange. Exhaling softly, she moved in front of Magomi and knelt to her height and gently covered her hand over the girl's mouth before speaking in a rather dreadful tone that was almost depressing to listen to. She seemed sad, yet there was a hidden sadistic drip within her tone.
"Please sir, forgive my daughter's crude mouth." She began softly. "I've not heard of this said pirate, but we do need transportation. Sir, I beg of you, it's for my daughter's health." She said slowly, hoping Magomi would understand what she was trying to do, hoping that she would play along with her. After all, Magomi was quite young, and Ophelia could pass for being older than she looked. "Please, sir... I'll do anything in order for us to board your fair vessel." She pleaded, yet her words were smooth and carefully chosen in order to persuade the captain to let them aboard.
The man laughed slightly and shook his head. "Like I said, no freebies." he said with a shake of his head. The merchant had mentioned a trade of services, however, and Ophelia had said she would do anything, so he made a motion with his hand to stop them complaining before he could explain himself further. "If you two would be willing to defend our trade vessel from the dread pirate Malange, we'll take you to Molindars, free of charge." he offered as he placed his hand back on top of his other forearm as he waited for their reaction.
"Yes!" She announced immediately. Ophelia got to her feet and nodded hastily. She clasped her hands together for dramatic effect and pulled them against her chest while nodding. They would only have to defend the ship if it was under attack right? Not that it would matter, for Magomi was looking for adventure right? And by the sounds of it, Magomi really didn't like this guy... So if she could get her little paws on him, she'd probably tear him apart. That was definitely Magomi's fight, but Ophelia would obviously assist her just as she did with defeating Edmund's mirror image.
"We'll do that." She said with a nod while turning to look at Magomi. There was a sadistic smile spread across her face, but it was easily masked by the innocence she portrayed while speaking with this man. Hey, it was probably more fun for Magomi. She was young and probably liked doing different things, and this was something a little different. A little white lie didn't hurt anyone, and it wasn't like they would fall back on their promise... Or at least, Ophelia wouldn't, and she doubted Magomi would either.
Magomi was surprised when Ophelia placed her hand over her mouth. So much so that she jumped slightly. She stopped speaking and for the moment listened. So the guy obviously saw through there defenses. Oh well t was nice while it lasted. Though their swords probably hinted at their capabilities and the fact that normal harmless women and children often aren’t found portal hopping very much.
So Magomi simply smiled but couldn’t help slightly why men, especially men of the sea would need protection from a child and a woman. It was kind of peculiar. Especially since they seemed to be used to the ocean. Though she did get that this was a merchant ship at last. No pirate ship would be like this one was. Casually loading up supplies.
She turned to catch Ophelia’s look and returned the look with a light smile of her own. Though this was a true smile and held no real meaning under it. After all just because she was a demon didn’t mean that she was completely evil. No not really.
So it was with that that she climbed aboard. Not jumping lightly up like she usually would but rather simply climbing up like everyone else.
After that last battle and portal hopping she did need a nap. Just a quick one. Settling agents the side of the ship in the sun she yawned and announced. “Wake me up if anything fun happens” she announced before settling and closing her eyes.
The captain chuckled lightly as Ophelia quickly agreed and Magomi simply climbed on board. "Well, that takes a load off my mind. We may be sailors, but fighters we are not." he said, uncrossing his arms to offer his hand for Ophelia to shake. "My name it Warton, captain of this vessel: the Seahawk." he introduced as he shook Ophelia's hand before turning back to see that the boat was basically loaded and the men were simply tying up a few loose ends. "Well, best get aboard. Looks like we're 'bout to set sail." he said to Ophelia before climbing on board himself and setting about his own preperations to make sure one last time that the ship was ready to set sail.
Once the captain was done with that, and once he was sure Ophelia was safely on board, he gave the order to set sail. The men cried an affirmative as they unfurled the sails and pushed the boat off the beach with long poles. The vessel bobbed slightly as it become supported entirely by water and the sails billowed suddenly as they caught the air and began to propel the vessel forward. The air was cool, the sun was shining, and the wind was blowing where they were going. It was the perfect day for sailing. The men cheered as the boat began moving faster away from land and set about doing the various tasks required of them to keep it running smoothly.
Ophelia sighed as Magomi ran along and climbed aboard before everything was agreed to. Though as the man began to speak, she extended one of her hands and shook his as he offered her his hand, then followed him aboard.
Once on the ship, Ophelia moved to the bow and leaned against the solid wood. That same, somewhat cruel smile found her lips as the wind blew against her face, tossing her golden locks over her shoulders. She closed her eyes and folded her arms over one another and released a small sigh. The wind was cool, and the sun was warm, which kept her at a nice temperature. Her mind, however, began to wander. Where on earth would that item be, and what would it be? She had no lead as to what the item was at all, and all she heard about was this... Dreaded pirate.
The pirate...
They sought treasure and such, what if he had it? An expression of complexity captured her face as she opened her eyes which seemed to shine with the idea of being so close to another item. That would mean she would have three in her possession, and oh, yet another step closer to bringing Edmund back where he belonged.
