Glad that atleast some of them remained, Hera blocked out Hakan's hesitant agreement and pushed onwards, her little heart pounding against her rib cage. She didn't mind the lioness so much, she was smaller and her voice wasn't so terrifying.

She was almost at the end of the tunnel when the lioness called out to her. Hera, whiskers twitching nervously, turned her head back briefly. "Not too far now." She pushed herself further and then tumbled out into the water, spluttering and scrambling back up onto the bank where she sat and waited for the other's appearance.

She glanced around her and wondered if she dared climb up a tree to escape. However, when the other surfaced, she seemed far too captivated by the landscape then the little leopard wasn't about to draw attention to herself again.

She had to admit, though, that this place brought a warmth to her heart every time she saw it. "Yes, it is beautiful. It's my favourite place in the whole world." Hera whispered, caught up in the moment.

The small lioness took in a few deep breathes, still looking around with wide eyes. She barely heard the little leopardess, so consumed by the beauty if the place.

The humming of insects and the off-beat breeze seemed to be seizing her brain. The quiet but charming trickle of water as well as the other random sound created a beat in the air.

It matched up both randomly and perfectly with hear pounding heartbeat. She moved forward, toward the tree. This place was... right. It was something.. perfect. Something drew her closer and closer to the huge tree.

Was this... the place?

Hera, snapping from her reverie turned eyes to the lioness and realised that finally she was out of sight. No eyes were on her. Escape! Using her little, nimble body, Hera crept across the ground and started up the nearest tree, hooking her claws into the bark to pull herself up.

She climbed the tree with a gracefulness that seemed odd. Cats so big shouldn't be able to climb so! But Hera adored living in the trees. She felt so safe, so peaceful.

She pulled herself up into one of the higher boughs and draped herself across it's branch, setting her eyes on the lioness. She would leave, but not yet. She wanted to see what this had all been about.

From here she could see the others, the black lion. He was shifting about impatiently, and with worry. Hera's face softened. She could read emotions well and she knew of his tender feelings towards the lioness. "Could it become love?" She whispered to herself, feeling a pang of jealousy. "Could it?"

Her eyes shut as she got to the tree and she lay her body over one of the huge roots, taking deep breaths. This... this was amazing. She could only remember her companions waiting for her right now, but she did not understand at this moment she could be worrying Hakan because of how long she was taking.

She could feel every grain of the tree bark and it was lovely... suddenly something appeared in her mind. "Uhai'tuta.." she whispered, her body filled with great sadness and extreme joy at the same time.

Uhai'tuta; life pulse. All life was moving, dancing and creating noise. It had taken Aushi so long to realize this... perhaps now she would even appreciate it.

She seemed to jerk up in surprise, as if coming out of a trance. She looked around frantically. "Little leopard I..." She trailed off. "Oh... she ran off.." She said quietly to herself.

She felt as if the tree had told her the name but.. that was silly, wasn't it?

She shifted and looked a little uneasy, trying to see where she'd come from. "Hakan?" She called softly, heading back toward the dimmest part of the living wall. Was that the opening? If only she could hear Hakan's voice maybe..

Uhai'tuta? What was that supposed to mean? The little leopard watched the lioness curiously. She had never seen such an odd marvel. A lioness standing before a tree as if seeking it's wisdom. Then, as if by magic, it answered her, though it's voice went unheard by Hera.

"Maybe the trees are alive." She whispered to herself, watching the lioness turn and head back to the entrance into the undergrowth. She smiled, slightly, and then stood on her branch, ignoring the creaking sound it made.

When the lions were out of sight she'd be safe atlast, but somehow she had a feeling the meeting between them had brought something good.

Hakan's ears perked up at the sound of Aushi's voice calling his name. He took a step towards the entrance and lowered himself to peer inside.

"Aushi? Aushi are you okay?" He tried not to sound too concerned but failed. He didn't like being seperated from her like this. If anything happened he'd be powerless to help--no, if need be he'd crash through this undergrowth.

Still, he was worried, he had an overprotective nature where his friends and family were concerned.

Uhai as she would now be known smiled fondly at Hakan's voice and her heart calmed down quite a bit. He made her feel so safe... why did she have to leave that? No... she would need to get back to her sister and her pride. But every moment she found herself thinking about the parting she prayed and prayed to spirits all around them that Hakan's fate would lead him back to her, to the swamplands.

She slipped through the opening now that she could hear his voice on the other side and with out hesitation she pounced him. "Hakan! I have it! My new name!" She sounded as excited as a small cub. She couldn't help that, she was very proud of herself.

"Do you want to know it?" She grinned at him.

She wasn't the only one thinking that right now. Hakan didn't want to leave her. He was unsure if he'd be able to bring himself to tear away from her. She was so wonderful and it scared him to think of getting attached. Attachment meant pain, ultimately.

Then suddenly she appeared and his gloominess faded. His ice-bright eyes illuminated and a purr thrummed joyfully in his throat.

"You do?" He saw the joy in her eyes and the emotion was infectious. He smiled back at her, took a step forwards and nodded eagerly. "Unless you want me to keep calling you by your old name." He teased, flinching his whiskers. "Is it as beautiful as the first?" More so, he bet.

She found herself a little embaressed at the comment, but it was a nice kind of embaressement. He thought her name was beautiful? She laughed and shook her head, "You can't call me that any longer! That is my child name!" She grinned, though knew he was only teasing.

"Uhai'tuta" She repeated, not at all unphased by her sudden change of name. Already she was used to it... because it was her name, the name the earth had intended for her in the first place. But she could not know that up until a few moments ago.

She wondered if he liked it though.. what if he didn't? Would he stop speaking to her? Maybe he would hate her if she'd found a name he didn't like! She shook her head to get rid of the thoughts, they were silly. Why should she be so worried?

His ears drew forwards, focusing intently as he waited for her name, his eyes sparkling at her reply. He didn't think he'd ever tire of teasing her and listening to her replies. His tail hung still behind him and for a moment he ceased to breath, not wanting to distort the sound of her name as it left her lips.

He didn't know why, but somehow he could sense how important this was for her. How meaningful a moment this was to share.

"Uhai'tuta." He repeared, his heart skipping a beat as he spoke it. "It's perfect." He agreed, the purr rumbling deep in his chest. "What does it mean?"

He stepped forwards, buffetting his head against hers.

She was quite estatic that he liked her name, for some reason it had been really important in her heart that he liked it!

She began to purr and laughed more, gently bumping her head back against his in a playful manner. "It means.." She thought a little and then smiled. "life pulse." The pulse of life, it was found all around them.

Though she wasn't entirely sure why this name had chosen her, and she the name, she knew it was about life and what happened in life and how everything had a meaning.. those meaning seemed to create a pulse in the very air she breathed.

Life, she was life, the meaning of it; for Hakan atleast. Looking at her now he could truly feel alive. It was as if he'd been bumbling about in his sleep until now, until he had breathed her scent and experienced friendship again. Somehow he had a feeling that this time the friendship would work out. He wouldn't let it go, not like he'd let go of all his other friends.

"You know, I think that name found you, somehow. Maybe we are built with instincts after all." He sighed contentedly and turned his head back to look the way they had come.

"Well, how about we head back? Lions aren't meant to be so cramped by trees." And as he listened to the rustling of leaves, as if the trees communed, he felt strangely at peace here, as if somehow something had changed.

He turned back to Aushi...no, to Uhai and realised then that he wasn't alone.
