Another smile spread across his face and Faolen settled just a bit more to continue on with his conversation with Duncan. “I’ve no real time frame tha’ I’ve got to be home.” Okay, so a week from now would have his parents up in a lather, but hours or even a day didn’t mean anything. “I’ve just been wanderin’ before it gets too cold.. I want to camp up an’ stay inside most of the winter.. Traveling isn’t near as fun..”

"But the snow is so fun! How could traveling be not as fun?" Duncan asked curiously. "I mean, I know that it gets cold, but as long as you keep moving then you should stay warm." Of course, not being from here Duncan knew the weather may be different than how it was at his home in the mountains. There he had always been able to find shelter: an overhanging ledge, an abandoned cave; always something.

Faolen enjoyed the cold, he truly did, but that didn’t mean being out in it for days on end was a good ole time. Usually things got to where he wanted to just blink at the ones who went out for more than a few minutes. “I enjoy it, truly I do.. But when ye embark somewhere - not many open their homes to ye.” A bit of warning and a bit of experience so the stallion would be sure of himself before going out. “Ledges become territory when it’s cold out.”

Duncan took another good long look around where he was and it dawned on him that there were no where as many ledges for shelter as at his old home. "But why would others not be willing to share their homes? Wouldn’t they want others to do the same for them?" It was simple common courtesy in his mind.
"Would you open your home to others?"

Faolen chuckled lightly and thought of all the different varieties of temperaments of people he’d met in his home. Some were so friendly they’d try to grow a second coat just to give it away and others would just as soon spit on you than share. He rolled his shoulder slightly at the first questions, it was too hard to answer for what others were or weren’t willing to do.
“As a matter o’ fact, aye I would.” That didn’t mean everybody felt that way which to him was why so many Soquilis came across as embittered.

Duncan nodded. He had worried that this Stallion may be like the others, giving nothing but a cold shoulder to those that needed help, but he was wrong. "That is good to hear."
Duncan knew he was keeping the Stallion from going on his way. He felt bad about it. "I really do not want to keep you if you need to be on your way." But after Duncan said that he felt worse. The Stallion had said after all that he had no real time frame he needed to be somewhere by. "But if you would still like to talk I can accompany you for a while." He knew he would be going the opposite way of the river, but Duncan liked the company.
