-Lasciate Ogni Speranza- Accidental Affinity I never said L's voice should be "high and light". But after seeing ep 3, where he speaks more, I still think it's wayyy too deep. It's like, in the japenese, his voice has kind of a dead, apathetic monotony to it. But now in the dubbed... it just doesn't fit him. That's true, there are a lot of added inflections on words that the Japanese L didn't have.
I am holding out for Light's voice with the hope that as the series goes on, the actor will become more comfortable with light's character. The voice I disliked most was Soichirou's. It jut sounds odd to me.

His sister, mom and some of the investigators really bugged me because they were WAAAAY too american. I dunno... just bugged.

I think they found a good voice for L. But i'm not to thrilled with Lights voice, it doesn't suit him at all...

I thought L's voice sounded too... sassy. oo; I know I can't be the only one who feels that way-- everyone I've mentioned it to agrees. Ih...
Overall, I'm not too pleased with the english dub. But I s'pose it could be worse. :'O
I am bouncing about impatiently, waiting for Mello's voice. Eeee~ but that won't be for a while so..

Matsuda actually sounds somewhat smart. It's too weird.
Mello's probably going to be either too high or too deep, and Near is probably going to sound like Izzy from Digimon. Maybe Viz'll get it right, but...
I want to know what the other Shinigami sound like!

I think L's voice is aweful. L sounds like he is a 40 year old man. L should sound like some around 19. He is the same age as Light. I don't think they got any of the voices right. I will be sticking with the Japanese language version of Death Note. Thier voice fit perfectly. Although it really is just a matter of opinion.

I didn't really dislike any of the voices too much, but I think L's is kind of too deep and...smooth? Maybe it's just in comparison to the distort-voice, and I'll get used to it as the season progresses.
I think Ryuuk's should be eeeven deeper - like Darth Vader or something! But probably that is just me. surprised

L_LawIiet Alexa_REfan Oh, man....it is hot...but i think it's kinda manly for L...i dunno...ahaha, i think i got used to his pretty japanese voice xD and Kira-sama's voice... xp its too american....ahaha damn im not used to it....its the first time i watch the dub ehehehehe People forget L IS DEEP AND MANLY. Look at him! He's like, 6 feet tall! Look at him in the earlier chapters. He is manliness personified! The only thing manly about him is his English voice. :3

It fits him, but I really don't like it.. I don't see why people think it's "sexy." The only thing I liked was when he said "Because I'm childish and hate to lose.. that's how I know." The tone he used was cute. xD But I'm not fond of his voice.

I really wanted to like L's voice but it didn't sound right. I think jsngrantz pointed out the reason I couldn't figure out myself. Light and L are suppose to be the same age but L sound much older than Light. I think maybe if Lights internal dialogue stuff sounded deeper and older it would be differant but he sounds young and L sounds old. I'm not going to scream or kill anybody over it. The voice actor made him sound smart and intelligent... just old. Also, L's mascara looks much lighter for some reason in the dubbed version. Maybe it's just me.

Spoiler: He is 25 when he dies. Spoiler: But he shouldn't seem older than Light. He entered college at the same time as Light to watch him and there was never any mention that he appeared older. Since the two of them had the highest entry scores an age differance would have been a clear advantage for L and it was never hinted at.
I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying. They appeared the same age. L just seemed less socially adjusted.
