Kail’igen chuckles quietly at Morty’s response. He sure turned that around, if things went well Piro would be left with a bunch of potions useless to himself though if his intentions were as he truly stated it wouldn’t matter anyway. Kail’igen wished he had that kind of money to throw around, which was part of the reason why he was here. The silent mage was broke. He needed the money from this job and hoped to get some beneficial experience from it as well. He wouldn’t have hired such a team of adventures if he didn’t expect trouble. This would be a good chance to test his skill as a mage.
Kail’igen noted the spunky nature of the last adventure to arrive. He couldn’t understand how anybody could be that excited about anything. Yet strangely it sort of reminded him of someone he once knew. He looked up at the sky, wondering where her path might have pulled her at this time.

*Morty's response to the former defender Piro, who apparently refused to accept Morty's original response, replying in a haze of clouded logic*
Master Morty looks at Piro, a slightly befuddled expression on his face. Suddenly his expression changes to one of surprised amusement. "Oh, I see now. Curse of babbling is it? Well, don't worry son, if you make it through this journey with the rest of us, you might be able to afford a cure for what ails you. Since you've obviously taken leave of your senses, maybe you should let Master Radryn do the talking for you, okay?" Master Morty walks to the lead wagon, chuckling slightly at the amusing young man's antics. "Ready whenever you are Master Radryn." Taking his seat, he awaits the command to move out.

"Ah the babbling curse, didn't know you had caught it Piro, well don't worry my friend we will find some way to communicate." Grinning beneath his mask he takes a quick headcount before nodding to Master Morty. "Lets move out."

*I apologize for the delay, we will now continue with the four remaining teammates, as Piro is no longer with us.*
The wagon train begins to move forward, escorted by it's hearty adventuring team. Moving at a gentle pace, you have no difficulty walking alongside if you so desire. There is also ample room atop the wagons themselves, for those who prefer to ride.
Two days pass, without event. The job is going well by all accounts; no threat, no problem. However, on the third day the wagon train approaches the opening of the famed mountain crossing, known as The Hidden Pass. Used for decades by travelers seeking an easy passage through the mountains, it is also known for it's less desirable inhabitants; bandits.
As you approach the Hidden Pass, you see a figure in the distance, staggering toward you...

A squeaky voice pipes up from on top of one of the wagons.
"Bandits, ya think?" Puc calls down.
"At the worst it might be zombies..." She muses aloud.
She squints into the distance.

"Careful everyone keep your eyes peeled, this could be a trick." He said in a low voice to his group lightly then turns toward the figure. "Sir Tell us what happened to you and don't come closer!" Radryn draws his dagger and moves to the front of the wagon train closest to the man. letting Kail, Puc and Zypher stay behind.

Puc frowns at the staggering man. Then, she begins examining the sides and tops of the cliff pass. If there were bandits, they had to be hiding somewhere...

“Someone should watch the rear.” Kail’igen mutters and takes off after Radryn. Clearly he did not want to be that man. He kept a good distance from Radryn hovering just within hearing distance of him and the stranger. He knew of anyone here Radryn could take a hit if something went sour. But he would make sure they wouldn’t be around long enough to get a second swing. He glances around being ready to intercept an attack from any direction.

Out of pure natural reaction, Zypher activates his Etheriomancy and materializes his shadow glaive. Dark mist looms over his body with a spectral intensity. Even if this was a bandit attempt to organize, the sight of his tranformation strikes fear into even those bloodthirsty degenerates. Zypher swings to the back of the group to cover and create a looming, black entourage.

Puc stares at Zypher as he basically summons the depths of hell onto their wagon train and puts her head in her hands. At least her team members seemed to know what they were doing... She continues scanning the pass for trouble, muttering to herself. "I wonder if they have any mages..."

The figure staggers into view, a bedraggled man covered in dried blood, healing cuts, and new bruises. Hearing Radryn's warning he stops in place, falling to his knees. As you move closer to investigate he explains that he is a simple man, traveling the pass, recently beset by a ruthless bandit band. They seem to have claimed the pass for their own, charging "protection" fees of all who seek to travel through their territory. To the bandits, the fee is perfectly reasonable; all that you have save your life. He asks for food and water, which Master Morty provides, then prepares to hasten on his way, eager to escape the recent horror. He warns you that the first bandit check point is just ahead, manned by a pair of enforcers. He will answer any further questions you have before he goes; but is unsure that he has anything left to say that would be of use to you.

"I'm sorry but before you head on your way could you tell us what you know about the leader of these bandits?" Assuming that these bandits were organized which obviously they were, Radryn figured that they could hold off the bandits fairly easily till they reached their leader. "If you are unsure we will let you head on your way. There was no threats from where we headed so the rest of your trip will be safe." Suddenly coming up with another question he could nearly kick himself. "Did you lose anything of value that we should keep our eyes open for?"

The man says to Radryn,"I had nothing of value, not really. Just some personal items, clothings, food, basic necessities. I am traveling home to visit my parents and only brought the few things I would need on my journey. Even so, the ruffians took all I had and burned it, then beat me near to death for not having anything they considered valuable.
The leader of the bandits, or so I have been told, is a brute of a man who refers to himself as "Ali Baba". Apparently he was read a story once as a child that he found quite entrancing. His real name isn't Ali Baba, it's just what he calls himself. He is said to have gathered a number of thieves to do his bidding, assaulting the helpless who travel these lands. If you ever encounter him beware; it is said he has many tricks up his sleeve to fool the unwary."

Kail'igen listened to the man's story from his position a little ways away. He wanted to suggest helping this poor beleaguered man, but he would wait to see what their leader Radryn had to say first. It became clear to Kail that they would be earning their keep on this mission. There was no way a thief like that would let such a valuable load of cargo go unmolested through this passage. However, Kail'igen was perfectly fine with this notion. If there wasn't a high chance for some action on this mission, he probably wouldn't have signed up. He wanted a chance to to to test his skills which he had spent so much time practicing. And this time she wasn't around to hold him back.
