A ripple of laughter cut the air and the blue hyena shook with it, her pale eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Good idea! I wonder how close I could get before they saw me... probably not far, as bright as I am." She cackled as she said it, striking a pose to show off her blueness. "What should we do first then? I think the nearest river with crocodiles is rather farther into the green lands, away from the graveyard."
Now that she thought about it... how far would she be able to tempt her new friend to go with her? She hadn't been outside of those dreery lands in a while, and it actually felt rather good to be someplace with color. Especially with a like-minded companion... and she was loathe for it to end too soon. Well... she'd just have to prompt the other each time the fun wore down and keep moving away from the graveyard, till it was time to part ways again.

"We could always cover you in dirt! You'd be all incognito, they wouldn't know what hit them!" Zoma beamed after her fit of giggles was over, nodding as well all-matter-of-fact-ly but a little too much.
"And whatever is fine, I've never seen crocodiles before, so yeah! Maybe that first." Zoma began in her usual ramble and took a few hops forward towards her new friend, "I mean, I've heard about them from others but never really seen them up close, you know? I mean, they don't really come and die in the graveyard and I heard they're a bit yucky to eat so why bother trying to find them if you're not going to hunt them or something if nothing else is around ... and.. that far away?"
Now she looked a bit worried and took a cautious step back, perky ears falling a little. She had been outside the graveyard a few times, mostly by accident like this certain occasion but never really too far. Usually it was out, look at the sky, and then back in. "Um ...." Her gaze fell again, worryworryworry, "You'd.. help me back over here when we're done right? I-I .. get lost real easy...." She explained in a low tone, a little ashamed of her lack of sense of direction.

Bluu cackled as she watched the other female, grinning happily at the way she seemed to take to the idea.
"Oh, the nearest river isn't too far, and from there, we just need to find a nice sandy riverbank, and the crocs are sure to be there." She thought a moment, then shrugged. "They aren't good for food, and they can be dangerous if you're not careful... but that's part of why its so fun! We can taunt them and make them hiss something awful, and dart out of the way of their snapping jaws! I've tried it, and its a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing." She chuckled as she rolled her heavy shoulders, her ears flopping.
Turning, she faced where she thought the nearest river was, her tail wagging happily. "Ready to go? I'll make sure you get back okay, no worries."

Happy expressions returned to Zoma when Bluu reassured her she'd help her back, she took in a deep breath and cobalt eyes twinkled at the idea. "Mmkay! you'll have to show me how to do it first, but I'm sure I can pick it up really fast ~ doesn't seem tooooo hard and such. I heard they look like logs sometimes, so hopefully I won't be out of the game too early. That would be really bad too, how disappointing, to not be able to play before you're really trying, you know?" The darker female yammered on, obviously in high spirits once again especially with her briskly moving tail wagging behind her.
"Ready when you are ~" Zoma nodded vigorously, white mane flopping about as she hopped a little forward to emphasis her point.

Bluu laughed as she trotted onwards, nodding an occasional agreement, or adding a little something to what Zoma was chattering about. It was actually rather nice to have someone to listen to who wasn't all dark and morbid and unhappy all the time. Zoma was a hyena after her own heart.
At the clip they were moving it, it didn't take long for the rush of the river to reach the perked ears of Bluu and she laughed as she picked the pace to a lope, bursting out onto the flat, muddy bank of the river. Glancing around, she trotted to the water for a little drink, lapping up the cool liquid before she looked back for her new friend. Had to make sure she hadn't gotten lost on the way... that would have been no fun at all.
She squished her paws in the mud, enjoying the feel of it against her pads as she looked around for any easily accessible crocs, and how lucky for her that there was one by the water. Beached and sleeping in the sun-warmed sands. Perfect.

These were the types of conversations that totally lifted Zoma's spirits; weird and odd, morbid and even just jolly ... conversations of the random and even mundane but it was at least conversation and not threats of abuse or telling her to get lost. Zoma giggled as she rambled on, enjoying the add ins that Bluu herself contributed. She didn't even notice where they were going, and had no thoughts of getting lost or even being so farther out than she had been.
"Aa!" Zoma exclaimed as Bluu took off towards the muddy pit and she, herself, followed. The dark female stopped in front of the banks, lifting a paw to poke at the substance below - she knew was mud was obviously but she liked to test things out sometimes to make sure it wasn't too annoying squishy. It took a while to get mud out, sure she could go into the waters to bathe it out but .. trying to do that and then go to the damp and cold graveyard wasn't ideal. But, it didn't seem too bad, so she took a few steps closer as Bluu took her drink of water, her own eyes glancing around at the new location and taking it in.
Zoma didn't even notice the croc sun bathing near them, she was too busy looking at everything above it.

When the dark female bounced up, Bluu lifted a paw and poked her in the shoulder, giving her a light nudge to catch her attention. When she had it, she waved at what looked like a deformed log lying on the strand of beach, her icy eyes twinkling with mirth.
"Ya see that, Zoma?" She said softly, keeping her voice down. "That's a crocodile." She chuckled as she stepped forward, struggling to keep from breaking out in ear-splitting cackles. After all, she didn't want the bad-tempered thing to whip around and strike at her, or worse... turn tail for the water where they couldn't reach it.
The blue hyena regarded the reptile with the fascination reserved for things deadly or disgusting, which it very much was on both accounts. "Look at that hard skin, Zoma..." She hissed. "I wonder if you can even bite through it... and hey! Catch a look at a few of those teeth there, peaking out of its mouth! Quite a monster we got on our paws here." A sharp little cackle escaped, but she managed to cut it off before it got too loud.

"What?" Zoma exclaimed, loudly - a little startled how close the other hyena had come suddenly - finally getting her head out of the clouds and looking at her companion from her sight seeing. She blinked a few times, not noticing what she had done and then whipped her head around looking for what Bluu was indicating at.
"Croc? where?" she questioned, her voice a little lower than it had been a few seconds ago and curious as she was just not seeing what she was supposed until the description came, "... oh! That?" huh, not what she had expected. It was a little disappointing as she was so sure they were bigger and more scary but intrigued as it was something she still hadn't expected. It did look just like a log and blend into its surroundings and the like. And .. the teeth, her gaze narrowed in on them indeed.
"It didn't hear us did it? Does it have ears? It doesn't look like it does. What happens if it did notice us.. though aren't we supposed to spook it?" Still even in the face of certain doom and danger, she could still ramble.

Bluu cackled as she moved closer to the crocodile, her long ears hard forward as she stared at the creature. Step by step she approached, oh-so carefully watching to be sure it didn't snap at her.
"Th' holes in it's head are it's ears, Zoma." She called back, weaving her head side to side as she snuck closer. "Come on! You wanna see it better, don'tcha?" A laugh rippled from her as she finally reached striking distance and stopped, pacing that line of safety. Every once in a while, she'd dart a step closer, then bounce back, each time drawing a drowsy hiss from the creature.
Bright yellow eyes with their cat-like slits followed the hyena as she taunted it, an evil gleam in their reptilian depths. Bluu was having the time of her life, danger thrilling along her nerves and making her hackles stand on end. "It's sure getting mad..." She cackled, darting in again and drawing out a sharper hiss.

Just like that? Zoma blinked in surprise of how easy it was to bait the creature, it seemed like something one could do with anything else really. But even so, as it was her first time seeing the crocodiles first hand, Zoma was surprisingly cautious as she made her way towards her new friend. Curiosity and awe, though, began to fill her eyes as she got closer and closer. The details in that raw hide, the yellow eyes watching and waiting.. staring at the two furry creatures. the teeth and oh, so those were the ears!
"I do yeah," Zoma replied in a low voice, eyes just staring at the reptile as if hypnotized, "We can outrun it if it does come after us.. right?" A little worried? Yeah, a little worried, its teeth seemed threatening even though they didn't seem as sharp as her own but having not heard much else about crocs and if they could eat hyena or something.. she didn't want to take her chance. Zoma was in the right mind to live and not have the stories be told of 'she was the one who was taken down by curiosity and a croc' ... not like anyone from her pack would notice though. Zoma took a step back as she continued to watch.

Bluu paused in her darting, waiting just outside the safety zone. She had a thoughtful look as she tilted her head.
"Um... I think so. I don't see them doing much more than just laying around in the sun... but they're wicked fast in the water." She grinned as she darted in again, this time closer than she'd ever gone. She slapped a paw against the side of the croc's head, down by it's shoulder, and was rewarded with exactly what she wanted.
With a gravely roar, it snapped it's head around with lightning speed, displaying a long row of teeth. Bluu let out an excited yelp as she jumped nearly straight up into the air, energetic but well out of danger. She dashed back when she came down, getting out of reach again as ear-splitting cackles rent the air.
"Wooo wee!" She crowed as she bounced around Zoma. "Didja see that?! Wow!"

In an ever fitting reaction and choice of words, Zoma's eyes went wide when the croc took a bite at the her blue companion. "Oh snap!" The black and white hyena herself jumped back in surprise at the power that the jaws of the beast opened and snapped together once again, and how quickly itself had reacted. Well, maybe slow since it had been taunted for that long but when physically stuck it really reacted didn't it.
And it was loud! Zoma didn't even realize she was breathing a little harder than she had been, and her heartbeat was racing. "That was crazy! It was so fast and like.. loud and wow. Thats what they do? It can like take your head off in seconds. that was crazy." Her words were blurring together as she rambled, staring between the now stilled - yet pissed - crocodile and Blue.
"Can I try it or will it be a bad idea since you already pissed it off?" she asked, a simple glee in her voice coming within seconds from being scared out of her mind.

Zoma's reaction was exactly what Bluu had hoped for and she cackled away as she rocked on her paws. How funny! She was all fired up with adrenaline from the close call, and seeing her friend's surpise was just too much for her. She shook with gales of laughter, stretching out her paws as she squirmed.
"Well, ya can try for sure." She chuckled when she'd calmed down a bit, though she still giggled. "But he's gonna be ready for it this time, so you'll have to be super careful. They're lightning fast with those jaws, and a slap from that tail is like getting kicked by a zebra."
The blue hyena shook her head as she huffed with laughter, shaking all over with mirth. It was fantastic! She couldn't remember the last time she'd enjoyed herself so much.

"Though, I'm pretty sure a Zebra's kick wouldn't leave you with a missing limb ... and cause you to go to a watery grave." Zoma laughed nervously, rethinking what she had just stated and thus sighed, unsure if this was such a good idea for her to try it.
But... when in Kenya ....
The black and white hyena blinked slowly and inched her way forward, trying to guess if she could figure out when the croc wasn't paying attention.... which wasn't really working since it was now facing her in an angle where is could so see what she was doing even if he wasn't trying to. And those yellow eyes.... no matter which way she went, as she was trying to trot a little in zig zags now, seemed to follow her every move. Creepy. And now her mind was digressing to these thoughts of evading and confusing the croc, as well as for the life of her trying to remember what her aunt told her about them. Was it the water or land that they were faster on? Gah, she was just a pup when her aunt and uncles told her weird stories ...... and then a few weeks later they died, so could she really trust what they said? Their ideas obviously didn't work.
Oh wait, pay attention. Zoma blinked, side stepping a little to the right as she tried to clear her head. She hesitantly looked over her shoulder, to locate Bluu just in case wrongness went down, and she needed to find some safety then looked back.... and noticed she was too close for comfort.
The Croc hissed low at her, yet didn't budge from its spot, yellow eyes unblinking.. staring at her in a silent threat. Zoma backed up a little bit, and then a little bit more. "Mmkay.... it doesn't look happy and I rather like my paws...." She murmured as she got closer to her companion.

The blue female couldn't help the giggles that rolled from her as she slunk along behind Zoma, staying back enough that she wouldn't interfere, but still got a good view of the happenings.
"Careful!" She hissed quietly, snorting with laughter. When Bluu saw the other female looking for her, she stepped into view, nodding encouragement. She truly didn't want Zoma to be hurt, but it was just too amusing to watch her try to summon up the courage to go and tease the crocodile. That's why she did little more than laugh and fall back when her new friend did, scooting back to a safe distance from the irritated croc.
"Ha! That was great!" She crowed as she bounced on her paws, dancing around Zoma under the disapproving gaze of the croc. "Did you see how close you got to it? That was totally awesome!" Laughter rolled from the enthused female and she nodded happily. "You're so brave, Zoma."
