"Thanks," Charlot dangled for a little bit longer, easing his grip on the ribbons to let himself slide back down toward the floor. Once he'd gotten close he dropped the final few inches with a grunt. "It looks different up there. Bet y'get just as much show as we do down 'ere, eh?"
Charlot dusted his hands again, looking back up the length of the ribbon before turning his eyes back to Lu.
"When is y' 'allow's Eve show?"

Lucrezia nodded. "I do get a show. In my normal act there's a bit where I jump off the trapeze and land in the safety net - every night there's this collective gasp. I live for it."
She pondered the question, trying to remember if she'd been told a time yet.
"I'm not really sure. It's sometime during the normal set of acts, but I'm not exactly certain where in the lineup." She shrugged. "How about you?" she asked, grinning up at him. "Are you working on anything spooky?"
And, to be perfectly honest, she had had no clue what this halloween thing was until someone had painstakingly explained it to her last week.

Charlot chuckled, shaking his head as he moved to put his boots back on.
"No, not this time. Oi've got duties 'elpin th' prep-rations." With a tiny grunt, he finished with his shoes and turned back to Lu. "Oi've got t'move some crates around and 'elp collapse a tent." He gestured with one hand toward the western end of the circus camp.
"Maybe next time." Hands in his pockets, he shrugged a little. "Oi'll get t'wander 'bout and see th' shows, tho."

"You mean you can't pull unsuspecting marks from the audience, chuck knives at their heads, and conveniently miss their ears by half a centimeter?" asked Lucrezia, only half joking. Of course she understood he couldn't. The cirque needed manpower and all that.
Shrugging, she adjusted the hemline of her leotard and brushed a bit of hair away from her eyes, briefly thinking she should cut it soon. "I wish I could wander around and watch the acts," she said, and then remembered.
"I still have to find a good time to watch you do your knife-throwing that you're so famous for. When do you perform, usually?"

Charlot chuckled, raising his hands at his sides to shrug a little. "Not this time... per'aps next stop, eh?" He glanced at the rope, wondering how long it would take someone to learn how to climb the rope, hang there, and then throw knives. Elaborate... and that would probably kill him in the end. Shaking his head, the turned back to Lu with a raised eyebrow.
"Mm, maybe y'should check th' performance rotation schedule... Oi think they post who's working when onnit." He'd looked at it earlier in the week to find out where he needed to be in the morning or if he could sleep in- sleeping was good, in his opinion.
"Usually, night performances... Probably th' next stop we make. Oi'll try t' do one when you're free so y'can see. Or, just come see me when Oi'm rehearsing... practically same show."

"That could work," nodded Lucrezia, "Private demonstration and all that fun stuff." She smiled, fiddled with the ribbon a bit to untangle it, and adjusted her grip wraps that had begun to ride up her palms.
"Have you ever heard of the Halloween thing before?" she asked, feeling a bit silly. "I didn't even know about it until last week. Seems a bit like one of Bacchus or Pan's festivals."
Maybe he didn't know what those were? she thought, an instant after she said it, but wasn't really sure how to explain the gods of her homeland.

"Mmhm." Charlot gave a small nod. It was a fine concept, if the schedules allowed for it. If not, he'd just have to fiddle with his a bit to skip a few chores and at least make ONE of them. He didn't see that happening, really.
"Eh?" He glanced toward the shorter figure, eyebrow raised a tick. "We 'ave 'Alloween, yeah. Et's more like a bunch o'dinna parties though. People dress up n'drink all night, playing parlor games an' all that." He shrugged his shoulders. He'd only really seen a couple of these, since he wasn't in the social circles that could afford to attend such fluffy functions. He'd seen a few through some windows, though.
"Who'sa Batch-us and Pan?"

"They're gods of wine and mischief," explained Lucrezia. From the way Charlot had explained his world's version of Halloween, it seemed like her hunches had been right. "It's a local thing. Their cults sort of roam around having orgies and getting drunk in inconvenient places. We used to have to toss them out of the audience at least once a month back home." So, in actuality, she'd never been to one of those parties. The entire staff had sort of been casual devotees of Apollo.
"Seems like it should be a fun holiday," she shrugged, flashing a quick grin.

Charlot smirked, shrugging his shoulders as he glanced toward the front of the arena area. "Per'aps. Orgies in inconvenient places sounds like it k'be a lot of fun, eh." He winked as his attention shifted back to Lu.
"Maybe Oi'll see y' around during whatever festivities decide t' show up. 'm pretty sure this place 'as it's own views on what a party is." Chuckling to himself, he gestured toward the doors. "Oi think it's about time oi went back to lookin' busy, b'fore someone comes looking for a hand."
He lightly smacked Lu on the shoulder, then waved as he turned to saunter back out the way he'd snuck in. "G'luck, luv!"
End.
