Zuriel felt the water pushing around him, it was almost deep enough for him to safely enter the water without fear of having to go through this again. "Wait...kids? Me?! I should hope not! I do't know what I'd do if I came across a shell and had to become a father. I did play hide and seek with a child once but I didn't become its father."

Golden hooves wavered in the ocean water becoming distorted in shaped. Verloren was not familiar with the reason why the water did so but the effect was both astounding and frightening. The water reached his knees by the time the stallion was done walking. The waves were already giving him a hard time trying to stay put. Lowering his belly to the water, Verloren carefully let Zuriel slip off his back. "Hope this is deep enough." Golden contemplated the other's words. "I suppose you're still fairly young. Children are a wonderful thing, despite their annoyances. I think you'd understand the day you find that mare and have your first foals." A chuckle escaped the older soquili.

Zuriel slipped gratefully back into the water. The air had caused his vibrant skin to feel weird and the water quickly soothed it again. "Thank you Sir Verloren, you're assistance is greatly appreciated." Zuri then cocked his head to one side and stared up at the stallion, a puzzled look darkening his face. "Why ever would I need a mare for? Surely one soquili can take care of a mere child, even with the amount of attention they demand."

Golden eyes stared at the mer soquili in puzzlement for a moment. Surely this fine creature knew about... oh no... Deep down inside, Verloren felt as if a large rock had fallen upon his world. Surely this full grown male knew about... The green stallion didn't want to think about it. He didn't dare...
"Yes... One can take care of a child on their own. I took care of my daughter after all... but... Foals don't exactly... fall out of the sky or appear in the sea randomly you know," Verloren replied carefully. This was going to be a long lecture if pushed any further...

He looked the at green stallion in front of him and gave him a strange look. "Well of course foal's don't just appear, they come from shells of course." Zuriel tossed his blue tresses with a snort. What did this stranger think he was, stupid? Everyone knew that.

Verloren stared at the other stallion and bit blankly and shook his head. "Yes, soquili from the sea come from shells and land soquili come from baskets. But those are only used to protect a just born foal. The shells and baskets do not create the foals you know." This was going to be a long, long day.

Zuriel stared blankly back at Verloren. This was the first that he had ever heard about this. Then again he hadn't ever talked about children before. "Are you ok? The water isn't making you imagine things is it? Because where else would little soq come from? When the baskets appear they have them in it so the baskets must create them."

"Geez... you must be a really young male to not know about this..." Verloren sighed, shaking his head. There was no way to explain this without feeling embarrassed in one or another... in fact... He didn't have to explain it. Verloren was sure that Zuriel would figure it out eventually. It was a 'natural' occurring action... the mer would understand eventually. Hopefully, the mer stallion wouldn't go too mare hunting happy once he did figure it out...
"Just forget what I said for now. You'll figure it out eventually."

Zuri ignored the quip about his age. He knew how these things worked and it was pointless to try to tell this stallion how things were. "Well I hope your daughter doesn't stay annoyed at you for too long, what did you do to upset her anyway?"

A chuckle escaped from the green stallion. "Nothing in particular really. I was just being a father. Children get annoyed when you start being over protective of them when they're adults. But, I suppose that just happens." A stiffness began to crawl across the stallion's shoulders. He finally realized that his body was still half drenched in sea water. "Urk!" Verloren quickly began to move back before the waves would have a chance to overcome him.

Zuri watched the stallion scramble out of the water but wisely kept from going towards the shore. "Well good luck with your daughter, and if you're ever this way again call for me." With a splash Zuriel half dove back into the water, eager to get back into what he deemed safe waters.

Shaking his head to get the sand and water out of his mane, Verloren watched as Zuriel dived back into the water. With a slight mumble, he made his way back to shore, dripping wet and quite cold. A shiver ran down the stallion's spine. "Winter is definitely coming. I better get warm or I might get a cold..." Golden hooves now re-caked with sand headed towards the woods where Cocheta lived. She'd have something tasty for him to eat.
