well, i usually read pretty slow... about a minute for a page and a half, however, if i'm really into it, then i can read a 200-300 page book in about three hours. i mean, i read books that are longer, but since school started up again, i haven't read anything beyond 450. it's my school pace. but during the summer, i read like crazy.

i'm known as a bit of a quick reader, though i wouldn't be able to tell you an exact speed, because it always depends on what sort of external things are going on. All i know is, i tend to irritate people around me with the speed of my reading, once i was reading through a textbook at a friend's house, and he burst out at me "i can't concentrate, it's too distracting to watch you turning those pages so damned much."

I think I know why I read slowly, however. Let me preface my statement by stating I do not mean to vex nor insult any of you who read here.

Anyway, most of what I read is philosophy. Now, soft philosophy, that is, philosophy which has a story with it, is decently easy to read. However, hard philosophy, which is just explanations and dilineations and what not can be very slow reading.

I don't read that fast, but I only read when I go to bed, for about one and a half...
With english books, I read about 50 pages in an hour, but with dutch about 75... so, not that much rofl

The book has to be good, and I need time. But I have read books under 24 hours.

I can usually finish a book off very quickly ONLY IF I'M INTERESTED! Seriously... if it just isn't my type of book... it'll take me forever and I'll keep putting it off like it's a really dreadful task. Dx

I read pretty fast, I suppose...but with the final book of Harry Potter, it took me about three days. I was trying to take it slowly, but that was the slowest I could go. The week before that, I read the sixth Harry Potter book in a bit less than two days, and that's because i woke up late and went to sleep before 10p.m.
With regular books, I take about an hour to finish a 100-200 page book.

I can't really say how fast I read a book. It depends on how interested I am. I read the 7th Harry Potter book in aproximately 6-7 hours right after it came out. I saw my parents at lunch and told them I was already done, and they looked at me funny.

Usually I find myself finishing a book in a day, but I ususaly either read on the weekends or during the summer (school sucks out my life xp ). However, for some books that I'm not really interested in, it has taken me several months to read because I usually end up starting a different book halfway through and forgetting about it.

I can read fairly fast (I read The Fellowship of the Ring in one evening - about two and a half hours), but I usually try to take as long as I can, because if I'm really enjoying a book I want it to last as long as possible, and then I'll go back and read it agian, finding the parts I enjoyed most.

I just started university this year though, so I get much less time to read, and I take a really long time. I'm currently reading The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien. I'm about half-way through (page 186 of 445) but I started it sometime in November (so I've gotten very slow due to schoolwork).

Haven't really timed myself... But it doesn't really matter as long as I understand what I'm reading and cherish it as I do so.

Normally, if I'm really into the book from the time I start it until the time I finish it, (say the book is around 600 pages or so) I can finish it within a week or so.

If I'm not the interested and it's a 600 page book... it'll take a few weeks, maybe even a month.

Took me a while to finish Bag of Bones by Stephen King. It was just too damn hard to get into at the beginning. Took me about five months. gonk
I feel ashamed every time I think about it. crying

I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the weekend that it came out Normally, I like to have time to eat and have a life while I'm reading but I was just so afraid of hearing spoilers at band camp in a few days. xD

If I like a book, I'll usually finish it in a week unless there's some reason why I shouldn't relax inbetween readings, such as a fear of spoilers. D;

Same here. Also, if I lose interest, I just put the book aside and leave it for when I feel like reading it.
