He nodded to her grunting as his head snaked forward to rest upon the ground. It was a welcome invitation for her to rest her own head against his. She was warm to the touch, which made him feel relaxed and at ease.
His memory stepped backwards a moment seeing the brightly colored foals that were quite meek and helpless. He wondered if he and his sister were that vulnerable once in their birthing days. The thought made him feel quite proud, for he was sure both Zikeria and himself had come out quite handsome and beautiful from those helpless babies. Now he wondered if they did have wings or not, for both siblings in his family had carried them. But was it unfair that Tic couldn't carry wings too he pondered. Perhaps he could find her a pair someday.
Feeling the one foal settle in its basket, the stallion felt darkness settle over him once more. Just like the previous night he was sure that Celendria had kept watch over the gallant stallion in his drunken tiredness. The icy touch of her coat reassured and sent him further into a dreamless sleep. Now with the soft breathing of both Zaribe and his mate, he settled within a deep dream filled with rainbows and migrating parrots. The colors that swirled took him further away till only darkness whispered his favorite lullaby helping him to exhale a deep sigh.
Sleep well Zaribe and Tic... you deserve this time of peace and quietness.

The first night with the baskets, Tic didn't get good sleep because she kept worrying about the foals inside and about the predators that could come along and steal them from her. A small murmuring noises from the baskets reassures the new mother that they are all right before they fall silent then soft rhythmic breathing indicating that they both are fast asleep as well. Tic tucks a basket near her neck while another one is secure under Zaribe's wings and promptly fell asleep once again.
As the sun rises over the horizon, sending the multitude of colors shooting up into the skies. The baskets was already active, bumping into the exhausted mother and father eagerly which jarred Tic out of a peaceful slumber. "Zaribe.." She sleepily says as she nudges the basket lovingly. "The baskets is up..." She chuckles as she sits up but stays on the ground because she want to build her bond with the foals inside them even more stronger than before.

Zaribe felt the sun's rays as they warmed his back and neck making him yawn with a sleepy snort. Ears twitching he opened his heavy lidded eyes to look down at the brighter yellow basket with rainbow and other assortments. Clearly the little one inside wanted out soon for it was more energetic than its counterpart moving a bit more less abruptly.
Tic's words of, "The baskets is up..." made him chuckle. Not a soft one either for he squawked like a bird when he really put emotion into it. Perhaps that is why the two-legged ones called him "bird". Who knows, maybe Zaribe really was one of those tropical wonders that people only dream of "The Real Macaw". He chuckled on his silly revelations about things while leaning over to nuzzle his perfect mate.
Soon the baskets would open and then a whole new life would begin.
The brighter basket moved on its own as it bumped everything around it including Zaribe's wing and its sibling. The little one inside was determined to get attention though it was so tiring to simply try and push against the thing over its head. Silly thing it was to keep the tiny foal from coming out... the meanie it was. Then the tiredness set in followed by hunger. What's this? Oh it smells good. Mmm can I eat it? Even in the dark carrot and apple pieces were a godsend when you're hungry. Content the little one curled in a ball and waited till that meanie thing would finally let him out to see everything beyond the speckled darkness.

Tic Tac Toe chuckles lightly at her mate's squawk before she nuzzles back, yawning widely then she blinks to get the bleariness out of her eyes. But the one basket without her markings on it bumping into her neck, eliciting a soft chuckle from the tired mare. "My little children..." She whispers to her baskets then she noses them away slightly so she could stand up without risking stepping on her precious offspring.
Tic stood up under the direct sunlight and looks down at her mate and now bumping baskets whom seems want to burst open, revealing the young foals inside them. "Do you think they will come out today?" She murmurs softly with a slight hopeful grin on her face.
The colorful basket jiggles as it stayed really close to the mother, absorbing the scents of the parents and the world around it. The little one inside the basket seems to be content with just sleeping or sitting there patiently waiting for the attention but it is getting boring! A small muzzle noses at the top of its basket curiously before the foal whinnies loudly, bumping into the parents waking them up. The foal really wants to get out right now as the wide eyes peers through some tiny holes, trying to see things.

Zaribe nibbled at Tic while watching those spunky little baskets as they made themselves known. Looking downward he adjusted a few large twigs before being satisfied his handiwork was still proficient. The little ones were getting stronger and he knew they'd burst forward out into the new world before either him or Tic would be ready. There wasn't too many births back in the clearing, but he admired those that did bring beautiful children into the world.
"By the looks of it I think they will," he beamed watching the basket closest to him bump about and shimmy. Definitely he knew the active baskets were a sure sign fatherhood had arrived. Well, Zaribe was ready for it and knew Tic was too.
Standing he nuzzled his mate turning sharply to catch the faint sound of the baskets opening, "Strike that.... I think its sooner than we think my lovely."
The basket with the familiar symbol of Tic began to budge as the top started to open little by little. The foal inside trying its best to crawl out and see just what was out there. Head butting the lid over and over the foal squeaked with a loud squawk afterwards as his red head (that like his father) peeked out to look at his mom and dad.

Tic giggles at the nibbling as she murmurs at her mate happily, she got everything she want right here and she doesn't want anymore than this right now. A smile brightens up her face as she watches the baskets with proud eyes then her eyes almost fell out of her sockets when she sees the small muzzle poking out of the basket.
A small gasp escapes her throat and a happy laughter bubbles out of her. "Zaribe.. look.. one of our children decided that its time for them to pop out!" She whispers excitedly as she lowers her head to peek at her child. "Hey sweetie.." She whispers softly.
The basket bumps into her brother's basket then it just stood there like the foal inside it was dazed from the impact. A small giggling sounds could be heard from the basket as the top of the basket wobbles and lifts little bit, revealing black muzzle with white sides. A loud squawk erupted from the filly's mouth as she immediately shot up in sitting position with the top on her head. Her reddish eyes blinks owlishly as she looks around curiously. Everything seems to be so BIG to this filly and the filly disappears into the basket again, and the basket began to shake.

Zaribe watched his basket covered offspring as an expected parent would. They were so small yet when they made their mind up to escape their now compact prisons, that they were finally leaving to greet the world. He grinned in spite of himself taking note how the once covered colt was pushing through the soft threads in the basket. Noting his daughter had carried the hereditary wings that lied wet upon her back, he then nearly fell over at the shock of the colt. What was thought to be a scarlet stallion when he grew, mottled and blended to a greenish yellow taking on Tic's coat. How odd this colt looked to his father right there. His head save for the markings painting his face, was an identical shade of red as Zaribe.
Grunting he watched them like a proud father nuzzling Tic, "I presume they were little parrots after all my Sunny Rainbow. And look how they will spread their wings someday for you as I have..." The scarlet stallion laughed with a hearty squawk as it rolled off his tongue.
The colt was tired of trying to hear things as his head thrust through the basket finally. Becoming off balanced by his sister's adjoining basket, he stumbled outward and pulled to his feet. Looking around now with wide eyes he noted his mother and father sniffing energetically. Opening his maw he released a sound very close of a bird but yet a squeal of a colt. Staring up widely at his father he noted those huge wings furled upon the stallion's back.
With a tilt of his head he looked back at those stumpy little appendages and tried raising them. My how tiny they looked then his fathers the colt pondered. Glancing over at his sister's wings he noted hers was small like his too, so maybe little ones such as themselves would have tiny wings. Then there was a sheer wonder of why the world had suddenly become so big all of a sudden. Whirling around the colt lost balance and stumbled going downward on his front forelegs till he was completely on the ground.
The world was indeed a scary place that was so big it might swallow him.
