Confused... Ok.. So, she wasn't mad at him... New? Oh yes, it definately was that... When had he gone from being a good friend to... To... Well, the sort of stallion a mare like Halia would look at that way... "I am not with anyone." He said honestly. How did he explain that he had developed a bit of a crush on her, and another? A crush for both, since both were his friends, and he had savagely beat back any other thoughts beyond... Well.. Beyond what they were right now. He would have to choose one... "I like you, very much." He blurted out... "But I will be honest, I never thought you would want me for anything more than friendship..." But you do... "Can we.... Can we try, this?"

Relief and hope surged so strongly within Halia that it nearly overwhelmed her. They might be awkward, fumbling youngsters, but he liked her, and there was a chance! That alone made her feel like she could sproud wings and soar. "How could I refuse, Aureate? How could we not try, after coming this far? It's too late to turn back now." She reached out, giving his ear a light n**.

Laughing softly, Aureate flicked his ears as she nipped at him, returning the favor.. He gently nuzzled her cheek, humming softly. "How could we not, indeed, Milady?" Boy... Here's hoping he would win his true love, when all was said and done... But which was his TRUElove... How did one tell?

With a giggle, Halia nudged back against his cheek. In her happiness she let go of her doubts and made what was potentially the riskiest move of her young life so far...she trusted. Trusted that it would all turn out right, and that this happiness would continue. "So, Aureate," she said playfully as she nibbled at his mane, "Where do we go now?"

Bowing his head down to nuzzle at her neck, Aureate rumbled a soft melody under his breath. A pity she could not fly with him... Oh well... So long as they spent time together, he really didn't care... "Perhaps we shall walk for awhile, my Lady.." He murmured.

Little did Aureate know how Halia longed for her sire's wings at this moment. Oh, she'd give much to be able to share the skies with him! But her face was bright at the mention of a walk together, lit from within with a happy fire. "Of course!" she practically chirped, nudging back at him before dancing back and tossing her head, tail flagged in good high spirits.

Grinning, Aureate pranced after her. Flaring his wings a bit, then resettling them, he picked up an easy lope, winding his way donw the path. "And where shall we go, lovely Lady?" He tilted his head at the lovely lady, flicking his ears and shaking out his silken mane. A slight breeze picked up, tugging at his mane and tail, making him long to taste the wind. He'd have to go for a long flight, later...

Glancing back, Halia grinned as she saw him flare out his wings. It gave her an idea, one that she much liked. She had an idea Aureate would like it too, at least the spirit of it. "Why...where the wind takes us!" With that, she was off like a flash, dodging and darting through the trees with the wind at her back. She wasn't as swift as her dam, but she still had an edge when it came to agility. Many foalhood games of tag with her brothers and her efforts to elude Natsiya had seen to that!

Being larger than the dainty mare, and encombered by his wings, Aureate nevertheless tried his best to follow her. Halia flowed around the trees like a stream, like wind. "You have an unfair advantage." He called to her, glimpsing the surging haunches, the flick of her long tail. "But I believe I shall catch you anyway!" Gathering himself he leapt toward the sky, surging through the trees and opening his wings with a great snap. The wind flowed under his night-black feathers, holding him aloft, and with a surge, he swept off, trailing the mare on the ground.

Ears flicked back to keep track of the sound of Aureate following behind her, Halia smirked when she heard the sounds of hoofbeats cease. She knew he hadn't stopped, as there had been little slowing of hoofbeats...no, he had taken to the air. Well, she'd led her winged half-brother and sire on many a merry chase before, and Aureate would be no different! With a mischeivous look on her face, she dove into even thicker forest, weaving through gaps barely large enough for her form to slip through and leaping fallen branches and brush that reached nearly to her chest at times.

Aureate followed her progress with a tilt of his wings, sweeping sharply to the side. He followed just behind, smiling at the glimpse of gold and purple. There... And again... Stars but she was swift, moving on the ground as easier as he flowed through the sky. What a flier she would have been! Soaring up, up and up, he moved toward the sun for a moment, then turned toward the ground and closed his wings. Hovering for but a moment, he unfolded his wings slightly and spiraled down, whistling joyously. Through the overlay of green, he landed in the center of a small clearing, spinning as Halia surged in. "AHA!"

Darting, dodging, leaping, Halia could hear his wingbeats recede. Growing puzzled as they seemed to quiet, she slowed slightly as she entered the clearing...only to rear up with a sharp whinny of surprise. "Well there you are!" Managing to stop short of running into the stallion, she tugged lightly at one wing in mock-reproof. "Don't you know better than to scare poor mares?"

Aureate laughed and tugged her forelock in response. "To my GodSire's undying shame, I am doomed to forever be a pain, particularly in the rumps of lovely mares..." He gave a wink and his usual devilishly charming smile. "And now what shall I do, that I have caught you, my dear?" He snapped his wings open and forward, easily wrapping them around her dainty form. "Claim a prize, to be sure.. But what?"

"Shame you should feel indeed," Halia teased, eyes dancing with mischief. "Why, what if some weaker-hearted filly fell over in a faint? Or worse? I'm sure he'd have more than a few harsh words for you then!" She laughed, tossing her head with a shrug. "Well, I suppose that would be up for you to decide, wouldn't it?"

Aureate grinned. "I'd catch the poor thing of course, and I'd never tell Sib... Because then Imri would know, and I should NEVER hear the end of it..." He winked. "Aye, it is my choice...But I was thinking the lady would share what she would claim, should she have won..."
