Jesus... I went and watched those videos! That's really cool, though some of the things I am a little skeptical about... The space elevator seems cool, but I don't think that 50 years is adequate enough time to build such an amazing, well, thing! The invisibility suits I am also skeptical about... But who knows? Way back when, cell phones were science fiction... ...My Lord, Savior, and Friend

I think I have to agree with that. Many companies say press 2 for spanish and such. It's slowly but surely taking over the US

It is, although I don't think it'll get built anytime soon....or even started....

Sun Charm I think I have to agree with that. Many companies say press 2 for spanish and such. It's slowly but surely taking over the US The reason is because Hispanics (myself included) are not only the largest minority in the USA but the fastest growing. One in four people LEGALLY in the US is Hispanic. It will be half soon. I'm not saying I am proud that my ethnicity is made up of breeders. I am just stating information from various surveys and census reports.

A Few Predictions That Will Most Likely Be Fulfilled:
-There will finally be luxury space hotels. There's talk now about turning the ISS into one after they finish building it.
-Permanent Lunar Establishment could be built by 2057...Also I expect man to walk on Mars before then.
-The use of fossil fuels will slowly diminish.
-Thumb print/ Retna scanning security systems could be more common place.
-Everything may very well be connected to the Global Info Highway.
-Cars could possibly drive themselves.
-Robots in the home could become a more everyday thing.
-Obviously...If all goes well...The small towns of today could evolve into the cities of tomorrow.
-Most buildings will have a sleeker...more....ultra-modern look and will be earth friendly.
-I could say flying cars could be around but I'm not sure about that one.
-Something that you may not know: The Hover Boards from Back to the Future 2 are real....Groups of parents have always protested against them so they can't be manufactured on a large scale.
-All Movie theaters could become 3-D or 4-D or maybe even holographic.
-World War 3 might come to pass before 2057.
-Could it be nuclear? Who knows...maybe.
-There may finally be a bridge across the Bering Strait.
-As you might have noticed...Many things are going extinct such as VCR's, Cassette Tapes, Answering Machines, Drive In Theaters, Floppy Disk....I think that by 2057 many, many, many, many more things will be added to the list.

@ Damian: I agree with a lot of that; however, I don't think there will be a moon colony by then, simply because of time and money constraints; NASA and other space agencies just haven't been payed attention to enough lately. Although I would expect to see plans or early construction by then. Quote: -Obviously...If all goes well...The small towns of today could evolve into the cities of tomorrow. That would make me sad...I live in the small town of Monument, Colorado, and I find it much more enjoyable than cities...oh well, if there's land people will build on it. sad

I dont think the future soldier idea will be done by then. Im not even sure making someone invisible is even possible. And I dont think its possible to make a metal that will keep the soldier completely safe against almost anything and yet its very thin and pliable...

jwfab8988 I dont think the future soldier idea will be done by then. Im not even sure making someone invisible is even possible. And I dont think its possible to make a metal that will keep the soldier completely safe against almost anything and yet its very thin and pliable... Same thing was said about the telephone but guess what? Now we have phones that are wireless, portable and practically have the memory of a small computer. Nothing's impossible, just improbable. I could tell you right now that your keyboard could explode completely, but the average person would respond that it's impossible; truth is, it is possible. Granted the actual probability of it is astronomically tiny, but it's still possible. I could see how we could make things invisible by refracting light correctly. Tough but I believe it's do-able. I think it's totally possible to make a metallic material that is so light weight and thin, capable of stopping a bullet. I mean heck, we've slowed down light to a walking pace, and then stopped it!

It's funny. Just a couple years ago when DVD's went big, on commercials, they went from now available on Video! To now available on DVD and Video! Now it's just now available on DVD! xd

I don't see a space elevator by 2057. Not because of the difficulty in designing it, but just because of the trillions of dollars it would take to build, over the course of a few decades. It would be built by NASA, and government projects tend to slow to a tragic halt. Just look at Ground Zero! 7 years later and we still have done something with it.
What would we do with the Space Elevator?
Invisibile Suits by then? Sure! I think I remember reading in Wired that they've manaed to do it for a mostly flat object. In 50 years, I could definitely see it being used in the military. Not for every soldier though, but for special tactics units. Cus even in 50 years, an invisibility suit would probably be EXPENSIVE AS HELL. AKA, worth much more than a soldier's life.
Holograms? Not a clue. I don't know much about where we are in that field, so I really can't say.
Nice Questions smile
