'Hard fought and rarely won.' That certainly matched with his experience. And after so many attempts and failures, he usually found himself walking away from a conversation with an adult. Well, that seemed far from possible now. He'd dug himself in too deep with the female and it didn't look as if she'd be letting him go anytime soon. Ah, well. It made his day interesting, if nothing else. And honestly, when he really took the time to think about it, it was nice to have an intellectual talk. It was something he could rarely resist. Slowly but surely he decided it was okay to be truthful now. Paradise didn't seem the type to mock his opinions, only offer up her own.
He only hoped with an outward grimace that he wasn't a fool in thinking so.
"Good and evil?" A curious cant of the head. That was one that could easily begin arguements. "Do you see a line between good and evil in the world? There is no good and evil within the world. Only the difference between those who can't see the world itself is evil and those who can."

Paradise rarely mocked someone's opinions or perceptions unless they were just flat out being a stupid a**. Ikuinen didn't qualify for that treatment. She did tend to challenge certain views from time to time, less for the sake of trying to convince others to believe what she thought but rather to simply stretch their minds and make them think. She was peculiar like that. And sometimes it was fun to see people squirming mentally when they couldn't refute something they didn't like...
"A line between good and evil? So many lines have been drawn between good and evil that it's all a blur. Perception... like I said. Truth is in the eye of the beholder. What is right and wrong based on? Someone's perception. Someone trying to prove that their perception is the correct one and convincing everyone else of it. Is it evil for a male lion to kill the young cubs when he takes over a pride? I'm sure the cubs think so, but in the end it's for the preservation, the good, of the species. What is evil for one may be good to another. They're ideals... sort of like paradise."
That last part of his statement made her pause. The world was evil? "The world is a big place. A big entity, if you will. Do you think that a cow... or some other large creature, whatever you prefer... cares, or even realizes when it steps on an ant? It's not that the world is evil... it just doesn't give a crap."

Ears twitched, sliding back against his skull. Paths in life were chosen by the one who travelled them. Sometimes he couldn't help but wonder what it was that caused Kitsu to take different paths. Perception of the choices, he supposed. Paradise's argument was a good one. However, that didn't keep him from disagreeing. If the world didn't care, then why did things happen without a reason? If the world didn't meddle into the affairs of its creatures, then how could someone's life steer so fully from its intended course without any push at all.
Well, he certainly wasn't willing to spill his back-story to this still stranger. Making an argument in his favor would be difficult without being stupidly obvious. "Is that so?" he questioned, starting off his turn with a usual question. "Then why do things happen without reason? If the world cares so little, then wouldn't everyone's life move according to their whims? Certainly the world is hellish enough to knock over a single domino if that action will lead to sorrow."

"The world has its own cycles. It has its own things to take care of, much as we do. If we're in the way of one of its "random acts" it doesn't care what happens to us. But really, if you think about it, a great deal of the things we suffer through are due to our own actions, or inactions, or the actions of others that we can not control. Like the fact that I was abandoned as an egg and I have no idea who my parents are, and I grew up virtually alone. I just decided that since I was on my own, I was going to look after myself, and there was really no place for moping around. It seemed rather pointless to sit around feeling sorry for myself instead of doing something about it."
She tilted her head. "But really... don't most lives move according to a person's whims? Maybe not their true desires... but based on what they do, what is done to them, and whether or not they chose to do anything about the things happen to them or not? We can't control everything, but choosing inaction or apathy and just letting things happen is still a conscious decision on our part."

In his time, he'd known no one so open with their past experiences. Especially not one so obviously striking as hers. Empty eyes narrowed with some emotion. What that emotion was, however, seemed lost on the male. He'd done well in caging the unnecessary feelings that had flooded out no long ago - to a certain degree. One couldn't say he wasn't doing something about what had happened to him. His opinions just seemed to sway more towards a negative light. Canting his head, he frowned, thinking for a moment. "I agree that we can't sit around and do nothing. But I still believe that the world is evil behind its mask." There wasn't much else to say and he shrugged. All of the important points had been hit on by each of them in turn, was his opinion.

Why shouldn't she be open about it? She honestly didn't give a flip about being an orphan. It was how it was, she was doing fine, and she was loner enough that loneliness wasn't really a factor. In fact, if she ever met her parents... she'd probably just keep walking. She was just using what she knew as an example.
She peered at him for a moment, and then shrugged. "Your perspective. Who knows? Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm right. Maybe we're both wrong. Hell, we could both be right. The world may have just gotten bored and decided to screw with you more than most people." She got to her feet and stretched with a small yawn. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go find my buddy Nahanni and let her know I'm back. Well, try to anyway." She shrugged again and started to move away.
