((No problem at all, I would like that.))

Bia stepped back and shook her head. "It has to be me! She, she targeted me! Why would a pup have such violence and confusion towards her own mother?" She inhaled raggedly and thought back uncertain now, Phobos made sense. The scary sense that meant guilt, that meant she had abandoned a true, happy family for nothing.

Her mate...she wondered what could have happened to him. Her heart ached at the thought he hadn't survived to care for their sons. She stared at Phobos pain in her eyes and the terrible guilt welling up inside her for what she had done. She had run so long and now she had managed to come across that which she had avoided so desperatly for so long.

"Please...understand...I didn't want you, to be sick." She shivered and looked down.

Deimos had left Ehrek sleeping in their den, and since he couldn't sleep, he took the time to patrol around the edge of his lands, renewing the boundaries with his scent. It was near the river that he smelled them; one scent tickled his nose with the hint of recognition, yet he couldn't remember where he had smelled it before. The other was the scent of a male. Some alphas might bristle and think it a direct challenge to their rule, yet he wasn't a normal alpha. Or a normal male for that matter, he thought ruefully.

Curious, he crept quietly through the underbrush until he could see the river between the leaves of a huge, green fern. When he saw Bia, he felt a pain in his heart, but he didn't know where it came from. His brain told him he knew this wolf, yet he couldn't remember her. Confused, he stayed where he was and listened to their conversation with only a small amount of guilt.

Phobos growled again; his mother wasn't very perceptive it seemed. "She attacked you because she was crazy," he grumbled, his neck-fur bristling. He had the distinct feeling someone was watching them, but his twitching nose couldn't pick up the scent. Whoever it was was downwind. Belatedly, he assumed that it was probably the owner of the lands they were on.

Bia shuddered and sat back confused and feeling such a terrible sense of guilt. How could she have been so blind, was it possble that te insanity she had feared and run from for so long was ony the product of her first mate. She looked at Phobos sadly for a long moment before looking down.

"I never meant to hurt you...I thought with your father...you would both be alright." She inhaled raggedly before letting out a deep breath and holing back a painful howl. Why was it only now she had found out how terrible what she had done was. How could she ever hope to make amends, and Phobos was only one of the three she had run from.

Deimos' ears went back at the utter sorrow and grief in that howl. Though he had only heard a small part of their conversation, Deimos was a smart wolf. He quickly pieced everything together; the smells he recognized just barely, the "crazy daughter," left with their father . . .

As it all dawned on him, he stiffened. His mother was yards from him. After so many years, she was right there. And . . . Guilt wrapped around him so tightly, he gasped in pain. Had he left a brother when he'd fled the den? Deimos had been so small, and frightened. His brain had automatically pushed all those thoughts deeply within his mind to protect him, but now that he thought about it . . .

Eyes barely open, the big spotted pup whimpered for the warmth of his mother, finding her with his tiny nose. His littermate bumped against him, growling a puppy growl and latching milk-teeth on his slightly curled ear. They wrestled as only small puppies can, and quickly tired themselves out, curling against each other automatically . . .

The memory staggered him, and Deimos was suddenly bursting through the ferns and trees, feet skidding on the pebbles of the river shore as he stopped two yards from the wolves at the river's edge. His mother, and his . . . his brother . . .

"Mom . . . ?"

Mom? What cruel trick was this!? Her nose quivered as she inhaled and turned to face her other son. Bia almost turned tail and ran again, such was her horror. Before her though stood a very different picture, not a starved vagabond wolf who looked truly abandoned, but an Alpha. She almost lost her footing as she stared from one son to another.

"Deimos...and Phobos..." together...just as I left you.

Now her confusion ran even deeper as she realized what a tangled web it all was, all she needed was for Moirai to pop up and tell her she had never been crazy!

Oh god, it was her. Growling softly, he narrowed his eyes at her, unable to feel anything but anger. Later . . . later, he would forgive her. After hearing her, he understood why she left them, even if it had been a stupid mistake. But now, he could be angry.

Switching his gaze to his brother, Deimos felt instant pity and a tearing guilt. Phobos was little more than flesh and bone, with a layer of ragged fur. Whining softly, he went to Phobos, slowly, stopping only feet from the vagabond. "Brother . . . I . . . "

Phobos was so tired. His emotions were in tatters upon seeing his mother, but now his brother too? The one he didn't know he'd had? His mind too had hid those early memories from him, but unlike Deimos, his were not coming back. He didn't remember the way they'd wrestled, or the way they had started driving Ares and Bia crazy when learning their first words, and repeating them over and over. He just didn't remember. And because he couldn't, he didn't feel anger at Deimos. Couldn't.

Wagging his tail slightly, Phobos felt a sob fall from his maw, and he closed the distance between him and his brother, instinctively seeking the comfort of his forgotten litter mate.

Alpha and vagabond met in a flurry of whimpers and whines, low growls and nipping teeth. Deimos, in his excitement, forgot his size and Phobos' health, and nearly knocked Phobos over with a friendly headbutt. "I'm so sorry, Phobos . . . I was scared, and when I saw papa was dead, I panicked."

Phobos grew silent at the mention of their father. He'd died? Nuzzling Deimos' neck, the ragged male nipped at the alpha's ears. "I don't blame you . . . " he murmured, forcing himself not to glare accusingly in Bia's direction.

Remembering that Bia was there, Deimos sat next to his brother, ears pricked far forward. His anger had returned. "Later, I can forgive you. But not now. You may remain on the edge of my lands as long as you wish, but do not seek either of us out. When we're ready, we'll find you again. And then we'll talk."

Phobos decided that fair, even though he wasn't sure if he could forgive the she-wolf. Snorting, he waited until Deimos had risen to his feet again, and followed his brother into the trees, leaving Bia behind.

Bia watched as her sons came together and gasped softly, she hadn't known the pain she had felt so long was dull compared to this moment. She slid back the guilt consuming her once more. A soft whimper escaped her as she heard Deimos' words, their father...her mate...dead.

Bia nodded at her sons words and watched as they both walked away into the packlands she had avoided so long. She felt the sharp stab of pain at watching them go, when for so long she had been the one with her back turned. She slowly lifted her gaze to the sky.

"Please...forgive me..." she whispered to the winds.

Deep in her heart Bia hoped she could find her daughter now, hoped that Moirai wasn't insane, hoped she could find forgiveness and the love she had run from so long ago.
