What do you think is up with Ozai sending them away?
  HE'S GOING TO HURT IROH.
  He's plotting something big.
He was just having a council.
He was sick of the teenage drama that'd been missing for the last couple of months.
He was having a quilting bee. (Pollmonkey.)

I loved that episode. I thought it was really good and funny. It showed that even though these teenagers have powers that majority of teenagers dont they are still regular teenagers....well maybe not Azula XD I also liked hearing Mai and Ty Lee's past, it shows why they act or do what they do. So for the people that say thats not character development, what else would you call it? Was it me or did Azula actually seem a lot more like a sister than an evil backstabbing b***h?

This has probably been one of my favorite avatar episodes. 3nodding

Is it me, or was Azula attempting to joke as bad as when Katara tried? I thought that was funny though, hehe

Is it me or are you guys not talking about the FREAKING AWESOME TATTOO GUY!!!....I mean come on! That guy shot lasers from his foegead and made thing explode!! That, for me,up fromall the stuped ZuCrew s**t in the episode! and Aang was like ROCK ARMOR and he stop the explosion with his air bending(I think) and Zuko was like SUPER MEGA KICK OF DOOM!!!!!!!!!! cause come on not alot of people can kick open a door (and destroy it) with 1 kick! so yeah I give this episode a 5 out of 10 becuse it was mostly filler and it only had 1 or 2 fight scenes!

So... much... reading.... *rubs eyes*
Before I forget...
Yes Butterfly, I will take that as a Taang moment but I am still on life-support after the overload of Tokka from the last episode. crying Right now I'm living off of modified versions of Taang moments.

My rating for this episode: Good but not great.
I did like the fact we got to hear background stories for the ZuCrew. I'm glad we finally got to see Ty Lee again. I was wondering what happened to her.
And that's now 5 episodes without a word from Iroh.

And I agree with Butterfly. I kept thinking "He's angry at his mom, he's angry at his mom, hi...mself? *Shrugs* Makes sense, I guess."

As for all the OOCs (mainly at the party), I took those to be Azula just trying to fit in with "normal" people since she's a princess and probably has little experience outside the palace and battle field. And Azula's little confession at the end only sounded half-serious to me. More of a "I'll join but I don't really have to" thing.

I think those flashbacks of the house included Iroh and his son with Zuko. I remember those scenes from previous episodes.

And now for a list of random stuff and comments:

To quote someone from an anime convention in regards to the poster of Li and Lu, "Behold the ravages of age."

Aang being covered in rocks somehow reminded me of Megaman. I don't know why. (Okay, so Megaman in Japan is called Rockman but other than that...)

I was thinking of Dr. Evil when everyone kept mentioning Combustion Man. "Feel the wrath of my 'laser.'"

And there wasone other thing but I can't remember right now.

Yaaay, Negi! I was kinda wondering where you'd wandered off to.

Sorry... like I said, I took a TON of notes. 1 page, both sides, single-spaced, FULL.

Hehe, alright. An alive yet deluded Negi is better than a dead one.

I know, right?! Grunting does not count. I'm wondering if they're trying to reduce Iroh's lines so there's less pressure on Greg Baldwin.

Hehe, yeah, I thought it was set up with the burning-of-the-picture. But, whatever. Logically, there's no reason for him to be mad at his mom, but it's ZUKO, since when has he been logical?

Yes, thank you Negi. -____-; All these people foaming about being OOC is annoying me.

They did. I watched it again and paused it. The little baby was Zuko. Though, how he remembers that, I haven't the faintest...

Perk is wasted on the young... ahahahaaa~

It reminded me of Bitter Work, when Toph turned into the rock golem thingy. And, actually, CoD, with Aang and the crystals... wow, they like that earth-armour thing a lot, don't they?

He's a-chargin' his laser. SHOOP DA WOOP. I am going to yell 'shoop da woop' whenever he fires now. It'll be like one of those running gags, like when you go to see Rocky Horror and you throw toast and stuff.

Another running gag; taking a drink whenever Zuko says a hilariously angsty line. Such as, "He decided to teach me a permanent lesson ON MY FACE!"

Ok all I have to say is this: ZUKO FUH! heart . heart *does a fangirly dance* whee

Well I have more to add lol

I thought he was mad at his mother too. I was kinda surprised that he said himself....well not THAT surprised. He did betray his uncle after he helped him survive for so damn long sheesh. That laser beam dude is scary D: I wonder how they're gonna get rid of that monster sweatdrop Oh god I was in tears when Azula said that at the beach xD!!! And yes destroying the party was necessary xD that kid was such a weener. It was hard to watch some of this stuff that Azula said at the party xD! I headdesked so many times I have a mark on my head now xD In that way I feel bad for her. 3nodding

Combostion man made me think of Full Metal Alchemist (the seires) sis the metal parts reminds me of automail and his attack looks like an alchemy attack after seeing the door. XD

He's like FMA cause he fricken blew off his arm and leg. Not so smart. xp

I still don't understand why people don't like Azula. I mean I thought she was awesome in this episode. Exactly what I imagined her to be. Crazy. Really good with all the military stuff but a total dork when it comes to the real world.

Exactly! People are going psycho over Azula's other side, and it's like, "Calm down. She IS human, she DOES have flaws, surprise surprise."

ah.. I liked the ep too, I dunno XD yeah, a lot of it was poncy teenage drama, but conidering that we've gotten plenty of that from the Gaang, it was about time to see the other side. (okay, so Zuko gets plenty of angst.. but this was different angst. it showed a lot of character growth. I see it as him starting to acknowledge the fact that his daddy isn't worth the love, and also that Zuko himself is ultimately to blame for where his life is right now) And am I the only one who wasn't shocked when Zuko said he was angry at himself? o.o 'cause it was the obvious choice, to me.

Also, as a die-hard Kazula fan, I'm completely excited about Azula's human and bad-at-relatonships! side. Oh man. Azula, you're such a little girl in so many ways. heart

Sorry, I didn't see it the night it was on and Turbo Nick still hadn't put it up on their site. I took a chance on youtube the next morning and got lucky.

I smell an AMV crossover xd

And now I remember what I wanted to ask.
(I apologize for those you are not into the whole shipping thing in most stories. I am one of those people who is obsessed with shipping so you can skip what's below.)
Do you think Zuko and Mai's argument weakened Maiko or made it stronger? As a Zutara, my emotions went as the following:
"Hmm, they're fighting."
"Now they're REALLY fighting."
"Ooooooo, Mai looks made."
"It's over? Maiko is broken?"
"Zuko tries to recover and is rejected."
"Aaaaaaand..... things are cooling down now."
"They're back together?"
So, yeah, what are your guys' opinions?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 21, 2007 4:49 pm

Hello!

Well, I must say that Azula did seemed a little off but not as off as Maiko. xd Man, those two seemed to have issues. I was laughing in a way because I imagined the Zutara's having a parade and then crying over them going back together.

Honestly I like Maiko over Zutara, but that's because I want Aang to be happy. wink

Maybe the fight brought them closer. That happened to a friend of mine: she had issues, they fought, everything exploded, now they're lovy-dovy. xd

(In response to Negi's question.)

I think it made them stronger.

Why?

Damn. Uh. Because I want to think that? No, I'm kidding, I sincerely do think that.

I am a big believer in the phrase, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." The fact that they went through a fight and came out of it together means that they're stronger.

Before, it was all like, "La-la-la, you're back from your banishment, let's make out~" Now, there's a bit of depth to the relationship... They DID like each other way back when, before Zuko got banished (See 'Zuko Alone' and the comic in the Avatar mag), but 3 years apart would inevitably have done some damage on that bond. But this strengthened it.

I think it sort of made them see eye-to-eye... Well, moreso than before, at least. I think it's made them more capable to deal with each other, y'know. They know what needs to be done to make the other happy. They're not so selfish, y'know? They're a couple instead of two people.

I'd like to subtly point out that HAHA I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE DYNAMIC. Zuko's all crazy and angry, Mai calms him down. Or, y'know, attempts to. Another point for Stefanie! So far my relationship predictions are hitting home! C'mooooon, Tokka! xDDD

I now do think that they genuinely care for each other. I mean... okay, I admit it, I WAS worried that she didn't really like him anymore, that he didn't really like her to begin with, that the 3 years had damaged the bond irreparably, that they were too different now. But, the looks and tones and stuff in this episode reassured me, both from Mai and Zuko. There was SUCH a cute look from Zuko at the end, when Mai's like, "I care about you." Cheesy predictable line, CUUUUUTE looks.

Woah, bit of a ramble there. I think about the ZuCrew a lot... waaaaaaay more than the Gaang. So, um, yeah, getting me started is a bad idea.

BUT DOES THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, NEGI? xDD
PostPosted: Sun Oct 21, 2007 5:45 pm

Maiko got stronger definately. I mean if you can have a fight and get passed what happened then it is obviously a battle won. I see them as a strong couple as it is, they aren't going to let a little feud break them up. They had crushes on eachother for the longest time and have history. Even with the rumor of them breaking up before the half way mark of the season, they will probably Maikup in the end. They compliment eachother. Zuko is hotheaded while Mai is calm. How's that for opposites attact!

I like Chan and Azula. Chazula. Ha, sounds like a pokemon. Chazula I choose you!

I know a lot of Zutaras will call it cheesy, but I have to say this was what they needed to be validated! biggrin
