"Well..." Audric began, but then stopped. For some reason, but always felt a little embarrassed when talking to others about all his siblings. It wasn't that he didn't love them, but the number of them brought up some problems. The most common reaction from other when Audric told them how many brothers and sisters he had was usually a jaw-dropping motion and widdened eyes. Not that he didn't think it was strange either. Poor mother... was usually his first thought. "All together, I have 9 siblings."

"Maybe that means I'll be able to find what I'm good at." Audric said, laughing. Since his parents loved music, they started trying out different instruments for him at a very early age. But none really stood out to Audric. "I know it's not going to be math!" He added as a joke.

Katsuo waited patiently for Audric's reply to his question. Like many had done before him, the teen reacted rather normally. A short whistle marked the end of his wide-eyed confusion. "That's a lot mroe than I have." His hand raised and formed a small '0.' "They figured they'd messed up bad enough on me. Didn't want to ruin the family any more than they already had." He was joking, of course, but from his tone, it was hard to tell. The slightest bit of spite wormed its way into his words.

"You just haven't found it yet, that's all." There was probably some sort of talent that Audric hadn't discovered yet just waiting for him to find it. At Audric's math joke, he couldn't help but laugh. "Nice. At least you've eliminated one option. Only a million more to go."

"Haha, it's a lot more than most have." Audric said in response to Katsuo. Thinking to himself, Audric couldn't muster up a reason why his parents would want so many children. None of his aunts or uncles had this many, and his parents too only had a normal amount of siblings. Most of Audric's friends had three or four siblings at the most.

At Katsuo's next words, Audric looked down at his hands and started to pick at the skin around his nails. It was a little habit he'd had as a child when uncomfortable situations came up. This one wasn't so much uncomfortable as confusing. Audric didn't know whether he should laugh and tell a little joke, or feel a little bad for Katsuo. But he was happy when Katsuo changed the subject to something else.

"A million? I'll be dead before I find what I want to do!" Audric cried, throwing his hands up in the air as a sign of defeat. "Kill me now!"

"I have to say, from my experiences, it usually is. But that's still pretty impressive." He wasn't sure if he was jealous or if he should have felt pity. For whatever reason, they'd ended up as opposites. "I guess they just really like kids, don't they?" He eventually answered for Audric, not sure whether he had a reason or not. "You must have some wicked holiday parties."

"Don't worry, I'll help you. We can conquer this beast together!" He yelled dramatically, shoving a fist into the air to add to the moment. "And if we fail, at least you'll have someone to die with you." He laughed at the outrageous metaphor that should have ended when it began.

Audric couldn't help but crack up with laughter at what Katsuo said. For some reason, this boy could do that; no matter how corny the joke. But then again, Audric did have a pretty big funny bone. This was probably due to years of watching his older brother pull pranks on his sisters. During those times the house was filled with nonstop laughter. What Katsuo said also made Audric feel a twing of homesickness for the first time since he arrived at Ouran. "Yeah, holidays were always a blast. Our house probably looked like a grocery store at Christmas!"

At Katsuo's next words, Audric laughed again and threw his fist up into the air as a challenge to the supposed hard times coming. "I'll get a fork in case I should have to defend myself from it." Audric said. The only thing worse than Katsuo's metaphor was Audric's joke. But that was something they had in common!

Katsuo began laughing, if only because Audric had actually thought that his joke had been worthy of it. Afterward, he smiled, glad that what he had said had gone over well with his new acquaintance. "Were?" He questioned the use of the past. It was probably just a mistake, but Audric's tone was what made him think that it might be something more.

"Probably not the best choice of weapon, but hey, it's better than nothing! We'll need all the help we could get. But no matter how hard it gets, I'll be there to help." He promised. "If you ever need help, just give me a call. I'll see what I can do." A wide grin spread across his face.

Audric didn't stop laughing when Katsuo asked his question, but the question did take away a lot of the energy in the laugh. "Well, I'm pretty busy with school and I haven't been able to see them for any holidays. Not to mention my parents are always on the go go go." The nature of their business always kept Audric's parents busy. Sure, the kids were allowed to sneak in and maybe say hello to their parents at work, but anymore than that was pushing it. But for some reason, saying this out loud made Audric feel better. He did miss his parents, but having someone to listen to what he said took away half pain.

"But hey, that happens right?" Audric said, giving Katsuo a wink and perking up.

Audric couldn't help but laugh as Katsuo talked. He was so noble! Almost like a knight. But Audric thought it was cute, so he held in what laughter he could in case Katsuo got offended. "I'd be careful if I were you. I got a new cellphone for Christmas with a texting plan; you'll never get a wink of sleep!"

Katsuo tried to laugh with Audric, but ended up with only an awkward chuckle. His words hit a little too close to home. It seemed as though since coming to Ouran he met a lot of people who didn't see their parents as much as they wanted to. People's faces flashed through his mind, merely supporting his idea. "I think I get what you mean." He admitted softly, an almost apologetic smile on his face. "My mother usually stays at the house on weekends, but other than that, I don't really see either of them. They're always too busy." His father only came by when it was important, or when someone was in big trouble. The last family meeting came to mind.

"Maybe a bit more than it should." He was finally able to laugh, if only for a moment.

Katsuo seemed to be honestly proud of himself. His face fell jokingly at Audric's 'threat'. "Great, now I've got yet another reason to have my phone off whenever I can."

Audric felt himself slowly stop laughing as Katsuo's expression went from kinda happy to completely sad. The last thing he had wanted was for his story to ruin Katsuo's mood. But what kind of friend would Audric be if he lied to Katsuo the first time they met?

"Well, if you're ever lonely and want someone to hang out with just give me a call." Audric offered, smiling wide. I'll probably be lonely too, so it won't be a bother... Audric added, but only as a thought.

"Oh you better keep it off. Or else the teacher will take away your phone, read the text, and discover my mad chat-speak skillz~" Audic said, enough thought he knew absolutely nothing about texting whatsoever.

Katsuo kept the same apologetic smile on his lips. Mentioning that was probably taking it one step too far. He could no longer help it, however, and decided to merely move on instead of clinging to his depressing comment.

"I'll keep that in mind. And trust me, I'll hold you to that one day soon." Doubtless he would find at least one day where he had nothing to do. Or even better, a day where he had something boring to do. He would much prefer having fun with Audric to being dragged off to his father's office for some impromptu visit.

"If you do have 'mad chat-speak skillz', I don't think she'll be able to read it. ...I might not be able to, either, for that matter." He laughed lightly. It was true he knew how to shorten his texts, but he wasn't exactly fluent.

Audric could sense something was still bothering Katsuo, but he knew better than to pick at an open wound. Again, this sense was thanks to his many siblings. Through them he was able to see every face someone who is in pain would make. Whether it was hiding bad tests pains or being dumped pains. But over the years, Audric had also seen his siblings blow up at him for 'not minding his own business'.

"That's great! Just make sure you feel like lunch that day." Audric chirped. How sad! He was thinking about food again! Hadn't he just eaten rescently?

"Honestly, I don't think I've ever texted anyone ever!" Audric confessed, laughing. "I'm not too down with all the technology today. I just figured out how to add numbers to my phone and they throw this at me?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:03 pm

"I'll definitely be up to it." He announced. Thinking about food made him realize the time. He quickly pulled up his sleeve to take a peek at his watch. They were almost out of time. The teachers probably wouldn't punish him for being late -they never had, but it'd be a lot better if he just got to class on time for once. "Audric, I think we'll have to start going soon." His half-eaten lunch and guitar were quickly packed up. "Unless, of course, you'd prefer wandering around in the hedges for another hour or two." Even if he was well-educated in the twists and turns of the maze, it was still possible to get lost in the tall, green labyrinth.

"Oh, we'll definitely need to teach you a thing or two about technology." Katsuo smirked, plans for much more than cell phones forming in his mind. Stereos, iPods, the smallest laptops in the world -they had access to all of this, so why shouldn't he teach Audric how to use it?

"Hum? What time is it?" Audric wondered, glancing down to his check his wrists. This is when Audric remembered that he didn't wear watches, let alone even own one. To cover up his mistake, Audric acted like he just had an itch the whole time. For the past couple of days he hadn't been on time for class. Most of his teachers didn't mind, but his math hadn't been so kind. He gave Audric a long speech about how Audric must not care about math, which was true, but Audric didn't tell him that. Then he went on to say Audric would have to stand for the whole period, which was tough for Audric since he was use to laying his head on his desk the whole period.

"Ek, I don't know how I found my way in here, let alone how to get out!" Audric said, jumping up. "You lead the way~"

"Awesome! I wanna be able to take pictures with my phone. I see the little lense, but I don't know how to active it..." Audric suggested. Then we wouldn't need to lug around a camera!

"Five 'til." He repeated from the readout on his own watch. Looking back to the other boy, he could hardly stifle a laugh when his friend forgot he wasn't wearing a watch. Even without Audric's go-ahead, he was already walking toward the exit. He'd gotten lost in there enough to always be able to eventually figure his way out, even if he was hopelessly lost. But neither of them had time for the 'hopelessly lost' part. For this one, he had only one shot.

"Don't worry about it. Just feel glad you found me before you had to leave." Doubtless it would have been a much more... Interesting process if Audric had been on his own. Come to think of it, it had taken the other boy a little while to find him, even with the musical guide.

"That's an easy one. Do you have it with you?" He reached out in case Audric did have the phone. "Usually there's a one-touch way to get to the camera." His own cell had a button that looked like a miniature camera.

"FIVE 'TIL?" Audric squeaked. That barely left him any time to get to his next class. Hopping away from his seat, Audric rushed after Katsuo towards what he hoped was an easy, quick exit. Since Audric barely knew how he got to this spot, he was relying on Katsuo to get him out. Audric wasn't sure how this place confused him so much. He'd even been here before!

"If I hadn't found you, I probably never would have never made it out of here. I would just keep walking around in circles until I got too tired and just passed out!"

"Oh, yeah." Audric said, reaching into his pocket. It wasn't the biggest pocket in the world, so it always took Audric a little bit of struggling to free his phone. He then started to walk as Katsuo examined the device.
