The_Wicked_Man Mcphee Everything Zen I would have to say Willy Wonka had some good moments in it. Unintentionally funny moments that is... I wouldn't call Willy Wonka a real horror movie.
There's creepiness, but not the kind that would define it as a horror.Still creepier and more unsettling than the movies mentioned in this guild most often (too bad the same cannot be said for the remake). Are you referring to any moments in particular in the original? I was thinking of the boat ride when creepiness was mentioned, and the fact that they break into song so often. -_- As far as funny horror movies go, I guess I would vote for Shaun of the Dead.

There has always been something about Violet turning into a huge blue ball that disturbed me as a kid. The songs make me feel uncomfortable, too. I really hate musicals. I wish the Burton remake was darker though; too bad the screenwriter didn't see the original film until AFTER he wrote the script (but on the bright side, at least he kept the song and dance numbers down to a minimum).

wow willy wonka being scary, never thought of it that ay. The newer one isn't as scary, but they're all too.... happy.... gonk And the old one was just kinda crappy, but yet they didn't have all the technology we do now. And the music was frightening on the old one too! stare

Mehe Lovecraft-West Re-Animator's pretty freaking funny. It really is. All three of them. My husband , who hates horror movies and claims to not like re-animator, laughs every single time I make him watch one. biggrin Thats pretty good proof. Something I just thought of was that scene in Waxwork 2 with Bruce Campbell.. where his chest is flayed out and there is the acid (I think?) and salt and all that... I guess you have to see it. It makes me cringe/laugh.

Are you serious? He didn't even watch the original before he worked on it? O well, I myself enjoyed the book more. (No breaking into song in books mrgreen ) I still think the remake turned out to be pretty good. One of the only things I would change is the oompa loompa songs. I would shorten them like how they were in the original movie. The only part that disturbed me slightly was the chicken getting decapitated and the random bug and reptile images on the boatride.

I would shorten them like how they were in the original movie. The only part that disturbed me slightly was the chicken getting decapitated and the random bug and reptile images on the boatride. From the Internet Movie Database: "Screenwriter John August had never even seen Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) when asked by Tim Burton to write the script. After finishing the screenplay, he finally watched the 1971 version, only to be surprised at how much darker the "family" film was to his own." The trivia section also mentions that four of the five musical numbers were written by Roald Dahl himself (and the movie was hyped as following the book more closely--despite the fact that Wonka is given a backstory for no real reason and the film's important message deals with family unification). Perhaps song had something to do with Dahl's vision all along, and I must admit: Danny Elfman's recordings of the songs for the remake are much better and cooler than that childish stuff in the original.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra was incredibly funny but it was intentional...for unintentional I'd have to go with Plan 9 from Outer Space or Children of the Corn (the one with the line "he was already dead when he stumbled onto the road!"). biggrin

Mehe Lovecraft-West Re-Animator's pretty freaking funny. My favorite. The sequels were good too, though the 3rd not so much. The cat scene was the funniest thing in the movie. I love the cat scene.

I thought Some parts of the shinning were funny....The ways jack's wife was yelling " Jack!" and "Dani!"....I just found that hilarious...she was so weak and pathetic..especially when jack was going after her and she had the baseball bat going up the stairs, where she smacks him with it...her screamming and voice were so funny..also the red rum part was funny...I cant remember her name...though, she also reminds me of Olive oil.. xd
