Grey ears lifted high in startled surprise. It took some seconds for Embry to absorb the order, and the logic behind it. Yes, that did make sense. He glanced away, trying to adjust to that mind set. It would take some time, but he'd press on. His maw strained to a grin. "Heh, alright then. Sai."
His smile grew softer at her comment of eating grass. No, he had no plans to eat that. Silver eyes scanned what details they could from below. "I think berries would be easiest at this point. If we're lucky, maybe even some fish."

She gave a soft smile in response to his welcoming personality. Prior to this she only had brief time with him, a couple hours at most. Even if she didn't want to split them up due to their numbers it was inevitable. Whichever the case, the two were getting along quite well, that's all that mattered.
"Berries and fish sound fine to me. Let us go, then." Her wings unfurled all the way as she lead the way towards the ground. Never for one moment did her eyes wander away from potential dangers of the ground. Any minute now an enemy could appear. They could be waiting to catch the two off guard. Especially with the cover of trees and bushes, it would make it even harder to spot them all.

Embry couldn't help to nod once again. He felt ashamed, but at the same moment grateful. Grateful that he hadn't crossed among other angelics who had been just as brash as the nightmares. That would have been most difficult to deal with in terms of agreement. With no hesitation, Embry trailed after the other angelic. The drift downward was their last moment to take in the scenery, and he was warily watching. For scales, fur and horns. Anything that may seem to threaten them. And from this viewpoint, he could see nothing, and only hope it was the same once they entered the trees. The male was still surprised at how calm everything seemed, as if only him and Sai were ones quivering from the experience of violence. It was...odd.
Tan and white toes brushed the ground while he landed, wings staying spread. It gave him the security of looking bigger, and ready for flight should it be needed. As calmly as possible, he stepped beside the white angelic, peering around slowly. No ranks, he must remember. Staying alert, he moved forward with cautious steps towards the trees. Experience as a spy helped him to keep aware of his actions and surroundings.

Descending softly, her paws squished against the soft grass. Cautious eyes glanced all around as she surveyed the area for any dangers. It seems so unnaturally calm here, as if everything the two of them had been through previously were a dream or nightmare. The thought was rather disturbing, considering all they've been through.
Keeping those thoughts aside, she slowly approached the trees. Her head still moved about, checking for signs of danger. No matter what, she would not let her guard down. Even as she lightly plucked the fruits off the trees and bushes, her eyes and ears were never at a stand still. Something about this silence and calmness bothered her. It was as if it was a trap waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting angelic pair.

Nose pressed out to sniff at the red berries, some black ones grown in as well. Still, pale eyes kept look out over the bush. Even if his senses and gut feeling combined to tell him all was well. Wings tucked close behind his small form as he allowed some tension to leave his stance. His own paws reached out to collect a small bunch of the tasty fruit.
"Do you really think they are alright?" Grey ears pinned back to his soft question. Even that had sound like a scream in this natural silence. Even with his senses in the present, his mind kept glancing back to what happened. It made his maw twitch with all the disturbing details he recalled. "It's shocking enough that we made it here in one piece." Eyes widened slightly, and he turned a glance to the captain. "How did you appear here?"

She gave a soft nod towards Embry as she glanced between the berries and him, "I am sure they are alright." With a soft pluck, she pulled one off the bush with her teeth. Chewing on it lightly, she added, "They taste fine. A little sour, though."
The female made a sour face at his question. He didn't ask anything wrong, but she wasn't even sure how to answer him. She didn't really have an answer, not one he wanted anyway. All she could do was describe the vague details before she ended up here and after she ended up here, but not the process in between. "I do not really know myself...After the flash of light from the Lazuli I just ended up here. I just woke up in the forest amongst some branches...But how I got there...I cannot say," She shrugged.

Embry let his striped face glance back to the berries in his paws. That's what they all hoped for, enough to even speak it against logic. And with only their loud thoughts against this calm silence, it was almost maddening. The male lifted his gathering to his mouth, taking in two different berries. Not bad, just enough to rest the hunger.
Ears listened to her side of the tale, finding it too similiar to his own. Whether through exhaustion or the Lazuli, that moment was blinded from their grasp. The angelic was curious though, as to why they had awoken so spread apart. It must be the same for any other survivors. A shallow grin attempt was given to the other. "At least we made it without bruising."

The female grabbed a few more berries off the tree as she listened tentatively at Embry. She felt the same way he did. It felt too awkward for this silence to continue. Not to wish ill-will upon anyone, but it was far too suspicious that the two of them were safe in the middle of some open fields attached to a small forest area. Where were the Nitemares that wished to tear their wings off? It was an eerie kind of calm--perhaps one she could never quite get over. The fear of Nitemares trying to damage them still lingered strongly in her mind.
Nodding lightly, she agreed. She at least enjoyed the fact how the two of them made it through without any damage. Maybe they had a few scraps here and there, but nothing permanent. "Yes, we managed somehow...Still...It makes me wonder who else--if anyone else--made it through alright. And if someone did, where is he or she?" She sighed, "I cannot help but think that."

With his small handful of berries now gone, Embry reached out to pluck another batch. At least doing something, even this simple, can help occupy his thoughts. And his stomach was getting some nourishment. Dark tails curled about his feet as he continued, ears still pulled back to hear the other. With his listenings, he could hear a small creek off in the distance and deeper in the trees. But still no whispers of threats.
"I'm sure some Nightmares pulled through as well." And if they did, he could only hope they had enough sense knocked into them after that event. To wish them to die though, he couldn't do that. The grey angelic winced slightly, pulling his paw out of the bush. He wasn't aware there were thorns in there among the berries. Glancing over the small scratch in quiet numbness, he wiped away the blood on his pelt. "Still...I wonder if distance had anyhting to do with it. Being so close to the Lazuli or not when it sparked."

She almost instantaneously reacted to Embry's injury. It wasn't just because of her powers, but also because of the distance between the two of them. She was close enough to notice him wince at the pain. It also didn't help if he wiped it away on himself. She frowned at the thought, "Do be careful, Embry."
The female considered his opinion closely, thinking it herself. If what he said was the case, she was fairly far from the Lazuli when it sparked. She was a bit busy paying attention to the others to notice Embry's position. At the moment all she cared about was that he, among her other companions, were safe. "I do not know where you were when it sparked...I was fairly far away from it, though."

The male slid his grey ears back timidly. He had forgotten her ability to read emotions. Even ones as flitting as a wince. "I'm sorry." And he gave a small smile. "But I don't believe I'll be done in by a thorn." Even for him, that would be abit insulting. At least he had grasped enough berries to avoid it again.
Silver eyes peered to the other angelic quietly. Where had he been when it sparked? "I...was near the back actually." Trying to find Onnoco. Embry shook his head at the thought, and optioned instead for chewing on the small meal. He made sure to lick clean any sticky juices left on his dusty brown paws. That should do just fine, for the moment. Wings shifted and tucked back as he turned to face the other calmly. "Eating well?"

"I know, but I was merely reminding you to be careful. No matter how small a wound there is always the chance it will get infected. Please be careful next time," She replied thoughtfully.
She remained silent for a short period of time after his response. His position might have been close to hers, but she couldn't confirm for sure from just this little bit of information. There had to be others out there...others who were close by or what not. But just where were they? And were they safe? This thought just couldn't help but revolve around her head.
"Hm? It could be better. How about you?" She finally replied.

He acknowledged the warning, glancing again at his paw. No, no concerns there. Enough was going on around to complain over that. His ears flicked to her silence. Her mind was wandering once more. And as much as her title allowed her that worry for comrades, it was risky nontheless. The male peered at their surroundings quietly, his silver eyes calmed somewhat. "Sai." He gave an aplogetic smile to his interuption. "Oh, it will do." Though for kitsus their size, even if they were slender, another meal would have to come soon. But not for now. "Would you like to continue the search?" It was clear that was there one object and goal in this aftermath. Collect their allies, and pray they were safe.
