Selene smiled, pleased that the other slid so easily into a happier conversation. It wasn't in her nature to be unhappy, and that was where the conversation was leading. While she had made silly mistakes, they had led to her beautiful daughter in the end, and that made it all worth it. The rest of it would fall in like eventually, she was sure.

She listened carefully to her companion, smiling at how very loving he sounded when he spoke of his partner and their children. "They sound like beautiful children."

She gave him a smile, and nodded her head. "I think it's the thought that counts, in your case. My children, their father knew, and he likely would have been quite devoted, but... I never really liked him. I was curious, and I wasn't ready. I feel bad about the way I treated him, sometimes. He was such a piteous creature, but he would have made a great father to my Yue." Listening to Virgo talk, she wondered... had Forrest ever thought of Yue like this? Did Cheng ever think his mother loved him less because she never saw him?

It was a mistake, and a cruel one, that had affected her family in ways she regretted, immensely. A mistake she wouldn't make again, should she ever have the opportunity for more children. Their father would know them- and she would know all of her children, no matter what. But she couldn't argue... "You know, I have some regrets, but I think I feel the same as you, in general. I can't change what I've done, but I don't think at this point I have the right to. I am happy. I have a daughter, and friends, and a very blank slate for a future. I have the benefit of hindsight, so I know what I can change, and I know what I want to change."
