Upon hearing the word 'rude' Verloren's eye twitched... just a little bit. It was probably fatherly instinct to be acting this way for the sake of his daughter. After all, doesn't a father only wish for the happiness of his child? Listening to Helaku's words in silence, Verloren became rather quiet and said nothing for a period of time. Thinking back to some things, he wondered if he should have been a better father...
"I never exactly fell in love to the point of finding a mate when I was younger. I met Amara's mother and we flirted with each other, had our children... but it never went beyond that, much to my disappointment. It was mostly my fault though. As I had chosen to follow someone to another land. Still, I do hold these feelings of regret for somewhat abandoning Amara's mother like that. Its is better to have once known love, then to let it be a fleeting thing. It is that short amount of passion... that can lead to the greatest pain."

Helaku closed his eyes for a moment, remembering the way things had been before his offspring had reached adulthood. Just for a moment. Then he shook his head with a small sigh, shoving those memories back into a far corner of his mind. "It can be a sweet thing when found, but sheer agony when lost. I don't think I would have fought that...brute...if I had been in my right mind. Certainly not if my offspring had not been grown, and my mate gone." Helaku shook his heavy dark mane slightly. "One daughter left with her...and the other..." He sighed. "I don't know where she is. I can only hazard a guess."

Golden eyes stared at the other stallion for a moment. This one certainly had the habit of talking about himself out loud, often on accident. Verloren had no idea what Helaku was really talking about but felt that he'd certainly suffered quite a bit in his past. "Well, I'm sure you can find some form of understanding with your children. A child usually never wanders off too far from their parents, even later in their lives. Who knows. Perhaps when your missing daughter returns something wonderful will come of it." Verloren hoped so, for the stallion's sake.

"That's just it...I don't know if she will return." Helaku met and held Veloren's gaze. "She'd met a stallion. While that was not the full reason for her mother's departure, I'm afraid she might have blamed herself. I can think of no other reason why she might have left without so much as a word of defiance." With a flick of his tail, he turned his mind to seeking a change of topic. "So, are you satisfied that I am no skinwalker, nor a lothario seeking a single night?"

A small snort came from the green stallion's nostrils. "Well, I personally have no particular disliking for skin walkers. They are who they are and that's that I suppose..." Verloren's voice trailed off for a moment. "But I must say that chatting with a fellow everyday soquili is rather refreshing, and much easier then some other types." A small voice irked him in the back of his mind that kept telling him not to let his daughter see this stallion but he pushed it back. If Amara has her reasons then they were good reasons. "Why am I thinking like her now?!" He missed his childishness and the butterflies... He had to get some fun after this or he was going to lose his mind.

Helaku chuckled slightly. "Rumor has it they make what I fought look like a foal...and I barely survived that. They might be what they are, but I would rather they be what they are far away from me and mine. I was afraid once, a long time ago, that I might be a cursed one...I hid from all that knew me for a time." He smiled wryly at Veloren. "I wouldn't recommend it. Mai's nice, but not much for conversation."

Verloren eyed Helaku a bit oddly for a moment. Looked like Verloren had missed a lot during his time away from these lands. The green stallion slightly shrugged his shoulders and said nothing for a bit. "What in the world has this guy been fighting? He keeps talking about weird things! Why did you have to hold such interest with such a weird stallion Amara!? Verloren shouted to himself in his mind. If he could, he would have comically fled to some dark corner to mop about his daughter's strange taste in males... "I see..." He finally brought himself up to talking again but could find nothing else to say.

Helaku was quiet for a moment, searching for something to say himself. He kept getting the feeling he was getting just the polite smile and nod he himself might give when he didn't have a clue what was being spoken of. He didn't really know what to do about it, though. Veloren seemed a bit...confused, to say the least. Helaku was starting to wonder just how unkind time had been to the verdant green stallion. "So...just how long has it been since you've been in these parts?"

A sigh escaped the green stallion as he contemplated things for a moment. There was neither a look of dislike or like in Veloren's eyes. "My daughter and I were born here but we had left some time ago on a journey with a fellow companion. Saw many things, made many new friends, experienced much the world had to offer... the good... and bad..." He really didn't like remember those particular bad days, but he knew he'd come to terms with them eventually. "We came back not too many months ago," Verloren spoke with a rather monotone voice and was lost in thought again.

And back to sensibility again. Veloren's mental state was a curious thing, it seemed. Well, it wasn't like there was potential interest in Veloren, simply...perhaps in his daughter, it seemed. It was a little bit of a surprise to find that Amara seemed to hold an interest, but...not really, Helaku mused. She had said some things, when last their paths had crossed... But his burned heart had shied away, and he'd nudged it to another part of his mind where it had been forgotten. Perhaps it was time to reevaluate things. Maybe. Shaking his head, he pulled himself back to attention. "It must have been fascinating, to see the lands outside of those the Kawani know. I...know little of them, to be honest."

A strange, awkwardly content smile crossed the green stallion's face. "They are rather wonderful if you ever do get the chance to go see the outside world. There's so much wonder and beauty that hasn't ben touched yet." A small thought crept into Verloren's mind. Was his personality shifting a little again? "Ah... sorry if I sounded a little out of it there. My moods tend to change a bit when I'm thought. So..." Now onto the great question... "What do your really think of my daughter Amara?" Ah, the loving and protective father once again.

Helaku just stared. That was all he could do, for a moment. What were his intents? "I don't know yet..." Helaku said softly, echoing his own thoughts as he met Veloren's gaze. "But I will swear upon the gods that inhabit this land that I mean her no harm. If..." He paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "If ever she needs something, she has but to ask and I will do the best I can. I can't promise more than that...I'm hardly a sterling example of what a stallion should be."

Golden eyes blinked and watched the other stallion as he responded. There was little hint of emotion on Verloren's face... but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing... for once, the stallion was using his head and he hadn't done that since he came back from those distant lands. He snorted a bit, neither content nor annoyed by Helaku's response. "I suppose its a start," the green stallion replied with a shrug. "My daughter is a kind one and she understands the feelings of others even when they don't understand it themselves. And just as a fact... she's hardly the type of mare who likes perfection." A small smirk of a smile crossed Verloren's face. "If you just act as you do, its enough."

"I'll try..." Helaku was quiet then, feeling awkward. He'd never spoken to the father of a prospect before--wait, since when was he thinking of Amara as a prospect? When had that happened? Before the battle with Plague, or after?
He really needed to get somewhere to think about this.

Verloren tilted his head slightly as he watched the other stallion contemplate his thoughts. Helaku wasn't a terrible stallion. He wasn't bad but he wasn't good either. A stallion who had experienced much in his life... probably someone suited for Amara who had gone through a similar situation. Letting go of his daughter seemed lonely... but it had to happen one day. Better sooner then later he supposed.
A strange, quirky look came over the stallion as one of his ears flicked back as if sensing something. "Hey, I think Amara might be coming. Want to stay for a while and chat with her?" The playful side of the stallion was coming out once again, for better... or worse...
