Very close, hm? She giggled. "Well then, I'll just have to take the day off, won't I." She wondered if they would run into Fisk, who was on that isle again. Wickedly she smiled. That would be an interesting meeting. She looked at the heavily tattooed taur in front of her and thought of her older brother. Oh yes, interesting indeed. But not likely. It was a fairly large island and she assumed that they would not be staying long.

Soon they were close enough that she could see the shoreline well enough to pick a direction, so she asked, "What part of the isle are you going to?"

She smiled brightly and eagerly shook away on Evi's hand. The most company she had of late had been wolftaur and truthfully, she was tired of it. Day in and day out with the hunting business; they never stopped for life!

Mikaila grimaced. She didn't want to be the reason for a sibling quarrel but Evisule seemed so genuine that she couldn't deny her offer. However, she couldn't pass up the chance to step on a boundary or two. The bright taur slipped over by Elitalov and looped his arm with hers. " Oh, I think new friends are the greatest of all. " Grinning, she shook her upper half and giggled. " It looks like you come use some, my green friend. But, since your friend is coming, don't you think we might'nt go to them? No sense being rude. "

She liked them; very much, she did. Evi and her over all bright aura, why even Eli and his cynic's tongue.

"The south tip, to the left of where we are now, I believe," he replied, studying the sky above and the land before him for some hints of direction. "My friend said he'd wait on the beach for me, but then, he tends to blend in with the forest, seeing as most of him's green, and his skin's pretty dark..."

Scanning the shoreline, he noticed a pink shape, and as they got closer, recognized it as a cervi, with at least two others of her kind. Blinking, he grinned as he saw the radioactive-green markings on Eli's torso and his similarly-colored antlers. "Well, whaddya know! There he is now! Seems like he's having fun, too."

Eli almost shied away from the contact, but composed himself at the last second, so that neither of the girls could tell. He saw Evi smile brightly as Mikaila linked arms, and knew that his sister thought it would be good for him if he tried flirting a bit and maybe got himself a girlfriend, but he definitely wasn't ready for it. Looking around for an escape, he mentally sighed with relief and happiness as he saw a boat heading toward the island.

"Oh, look, a boat! I wonder if that's him! I'd better go see!" he burst out, whipping his arm away from Mikaila, and trotting down the shore to about where the boat seemed like it was going.

Evi frowned as he left. She knew he missed Naina, and she did too, but that was no reason to be mean to everyone. She hoped that some flirting, even if it didn't lead to anything, would loosen him up a bit and calm his nerves, but apparently he wasn't going to show whether or not a pretty cervitaur like Mikaila could get through to him. Shrugging, she took his place and linked arms with Mikaila, gesturing after her brother. "Shall we?" She smiled.

Sweetfern pointed the boat in the right direction as soon as he named it, and seeing the cervitaurs themselves she adjusted again. It didn't look to her like this green friend was having fun -- he broke away from the other two and came in their direction. But she didn't say anything about it. Maybe he just really wanted to see his wolftaur friend.

Now that they were in sight of their destination it seemed to take a long time to reach it, but finally the boat skimmed over sand and came to a halt in the shallows. She splashed into the water and raised her paddle to wave at the cervitaur, waiting for the Mysterious Stranger to get out before she pushed the boat up onto the beach and turned it upside down.

Mikaila laughed full out, not the least bit bothered by Eli's actions and reached her free arm over to pat his sister's arm. " We shall! " She grinned and trotted after him, at a slower pace, of course. He seemed pretty excited to see his friend so she figured they must have been apart for quite a long time. That warmed her up from the soul out. It was always good to meet old friends and chat about the latest news.

If her own friends weren't six feet under, she'd probably do the same thing. Spying the female wolf wave with the paddle, she instinctively waved back. Mikaila figured that since she'd probably been the only reason the dark taurs had been spotted, she thought she'd made herself known as something over than a beacon. " So, Evisule, " She started, " Has your brother always been so impulsive? "
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 5:57 pm

Evi smiled. "Well, I wouldn't exactly call him impulsive... And it's really just nowadays that he's so... unsocial. I and this wolftaur we're meeting are probably his only friends. I actually have never met the wolftaur, Eli knows him from when he went to the wolftaur island to ask for help."

Eli waved back to the female wolftaur, calling out, "Det! You made it!" as he neared the boat.

The wolftaur grinned and leapt out of the boat gracefully. "Yes I did, Eli, thanks to the help of a very pretty boat-maker!" He winked to his friend as they grasped each other's right forearm in greeting. "I see you've brought not only your sister, but a friend?" He winked again, this time knowingly.

Eli frowned. "She's... not exactly a friend. We've only just met."

Evi giggled from a short ways behind him. "She is a friend, Eli!" she called.

He rolled his eyes. "Well, anyway... Evi, this is my friend, Detnuadnu, and Det, this is my sister, Evisule... and her friend, Mikaila," he said, purposely saying "her" instead of "our".

"It's a pleasure to meet you, ladies!" The wolftaur went over to them and took Evi's hand, not kissing it, as most would expect, but touching it to his forehead. He did the same with Mikaila. "And Eli, this is Sweetfern. Sweetfern, Elitalov."

As well as she could Sweetfern stowed the names away in her mind, smiling and nodding at each of the cervitaurs as they were introduced. So the mysterious stranger's name was Detnuadnu... That was interesting. She took care of her boat, making sure it was above the tide line just in case, and then brushed the sand from her hands and joined the group. "How did you two meet?" she asked the pair of friends. Cervitaurs and wolftaurs had many things in common, it seemed to her, or she would have thought it somewhat strange that two different species would have come to know each other well.

His only friend? That did not sit well with Mikaila at all. A taur should have many companions in life to help them when they needed it and to share in it's riches. To not have that....was down right sad.

" I'm his friend too, " She exclaimed, firmly putting her hoof down.

The male foxtaur took her by surprise but she couldn't say she disliked the attention. A bright smile covered her face and immediate compassion for him bubbled in her heart.

Detuadnu and Sweetfern, the friend and his escort, or so she saw. The female wolftaur seemed just as out of place here as she did but like her, they blended. Oh! She must have been a mind reader to ask such a question and as such, she scooted closer to hear the answer.

Detnuadnu burst into a wide grin. "Well, we met when Eli here came over to our island, seeking help from the wolftaur to avenge someone, seeing as we're the best hunters, trackers, fighters, pretty much everything he needed help with. Of course, being the thick-headed cervi he is," -Eli rolled his eyes- "he didn't think to go to one of the larger villages, where more wolftaur would be willing to help him, but came to a small village where they were more close-minded and just ignored him. I happened to be there making a few weapons for them, and thought I might as well go help the poor guy, he seemed so heartbroken. So I did, and we avenged his girlie together, and he said he was indebted to me." It was Det's turn to rolled his eyes. "But I don't really have the need for people to be indebted to me, so I said, let's just be friends, and he said okay, and we explored this isle for about a year together, and then I decided it was time for me to go back home. Eli had been looking for his sister, too, and I guess he found her!" He grinned at Evi.

"So we decided to meet up again someday, once he found her, so he sent me a message a while ago saying today would be the day. And what a nice day it's been for me!" He winked at Sweetfern.

Eli couldn't help but smile slightly at Det's antics and the way his friend's eyes lit up when he was looking at the female wolftaur. He glanced at Mikaila, admitting to himself she was pretty, but... did he really want to start something? After Naina, would he be able to be with anyone without missing what he had with her?

Evi laughed, but her motherly/big-sisterly instincts were ever present. "Yes, what a nice day indeed! But the sun has started to set, why don't we start a fire or something? The beach is nice right now, but a tad cold, and we need something to eat..."

"I'll go hunting," Eli volunteered.

"Not without me!" Det grinned.

There seemed to be a lot under the surface of that story that could be investigated, but Sweetfern didn't; it wasn't her business. Something that was her business was how long this trip would be, and now that she realized the nature of the visit she expected it to be much longer than she'd originally thought. Ah well, she had time to stay, and they all seemed very agreeable taurs.

Det's wink provoked a small smile and lift of an eyebrow, enough to acknowledge the gesture but not enough to agree or disagree with it. She noted with interest the feeling of Eli's eyes on her for a moment.

When the two said they would go hunting she offered, "I can gather wood for the fire." Hunting was Fisk's realm, not hers. Det was reminding her more and more of her brother -- they shared a certain buoyant confidence along with their interest in weapons and their travels on this island. They also seemed to share a certain way of dealing with females... perhaps Det was more exaggerated than Fisk, but Sweetfern found the resemblance highly entertaining.

Bearing that in mind, she hovered nearer the red wolftaur and said with a teasing undertone, "Hmm... But I have to stay close to get the rest of my payment, don't I."

The untold truths were going to annoy her to no end. Mikaila knew it wasn't her place to pry but did she ever want to! Exspecially when the 'girlie' was mentioned. If she wasn't so wary of him pushing her away or the watching eyes of the others, she would have hugged him regardless. She knew what it was like losing someone close to you. Such a nice taur shouldn't have to feel so torn up that he'd need someone to avenge the loss.

Not having much experience setting up camp, Mikaila perked up, " I can gather the stones for the fire pit. "

Det grinned and put an arm around Sweetfern's shoulders, pulling her close. "Don't worry, best friend or not, Eli will make sure I come back and repay you properly. And don't forget, you also have to tell me what kind of weapon you want."

With a nod to the others, Eli disappeared into the forest, Det close behind. Evi smiled at the other females. "I'll get the tinder and kindling then, and we'll start up the fire as soon as the two of you are done." She went over to the bushes and trees, peeling moss off of the bark and breaking off dry twigs.

If she wasn't a better actor Sweetfern would have pulled away when touched, but as it was she didn't even flinch. In fact she gave a half smile and said, "I'll have to think about it." Still she couldn't help but feel some relief when his arm was removed. As she wandered the beach collecting driftwood she put it from her mind, enjoying the breeze and the prospect of a pleasant evening around the fire.
