Freaking scary. I'm glad it goes away in 2-3 weeks..

Well from what the docotors said it coould last 2-3 weeks, a month or up to 3-6 years. Most of the time it only last the one month though.

And I am glad to hear it's nothing more serious for your friend, though it seems to be not nice at all while it lasts.

Well shes my sister actually. ( I seem to only claim her when something happens.xD)
This hospital really sucks. Most people drive the 2+ hours to go somewhere else.

Nope. The Doctors said that it can happen at anytime to any person. Its just basically the muscules behind your ear controls the sides or face and when one swells up and gets damamged it causes your face to become paralysed. Or so Im told.

I had Bells Palsy three years ago, it affected the left side of my face. I thought that I was having a stroke! I went to brush my teeth and I couldn't spit! My hubbie took me to the ER and the doctor came around took one look at me and said oh- bells palsy wrote me up a couple of prescriptions and sent me on my way. 20 min tops for my ER visit. I had to do "excercises" for my face to get it back into shape. It took me a month before I could blow a balloon! I had to tape my eye shut so I could sleep- that was the most annoying thing. And you have to get the right kind of tape or you end up effectivley waxing your affected eyebrow and eyelashes. As if I didn't look weird enough!
The doctors told me there are various causes for bell's palsy, viruses,stress-mostly stress.Did I mention stress!??
Hope nanners takes it easy!!Don't freak out it WILL go away!!

See the funny thing is, none of us had ever heard of it before until now. Its kinda like you buy a car that you havent ever seen on the streets before, but as soon as you buy one you see them everywhere. Apparently quite a few people in my family have had this happen to them before. They all call it a mini stroke, because I guess it causes the same things to happen.
I guess it can happen anytime durring the day because we didnt notice it until about mid afternoon. As for the hospital visit, they pretty much treated here like a test subject.(Or so it seemed) I swear the docotor brought in at least 3 groups of students to show them what it looks like. And they gave her some lubricated drops to keep her eye from drying out and an eye patch to wear while she sleeps. And they took blood, which she didnt like at all. No prescriptions and no excercises what so ever so Im in the process of trying to look some up for her to do besides the basic ones.
And yeah she has been under a lot of stress lately. (Some how I feel like some of it is my fault.) So for right now shes in bed resting ans is taking a leave of absence from work.

Its going to make her fell a lot better to hear that. She hates Pierce Brosnan with a passion.
Especially as James Bond. Roger Moore was way better.
Im going to go tell her about it now.

I dont think it would work but thats very kind of you to suggest that. I know she appreciates all the kind words of encouragement from you all. In fact, she didnt even know I had made this thread until I started reading your responces to her.

Platinum Chaos, faerie_0011, zphal_girl87, and to everyone else.... Nanners wishes to say thank you to all of you for taking the time to read this and offer up your kind and caring words.

That was a lot to respond to. Tried to get it all in one post.

I'm familiar with the effects and hope she recovers fully. Those familiar with WWE wrestling may have also seen the results as commentator Jim Ross has had two bouts of it, one affecting each side of his face.

As for a 5 hour wait, you're lucky. That's less than average here in Canada, at least in Ontario it is. I saw a guy wait for 4 hours for stitches only to be told they didn't have a suturist to do it. Shouldn't have the ER be qualified to do it?
