A crooked smile spread over Khepri's white muzzle and her raspy tongue ran over Kota's soft nose for a moment. His worry for her amused her deeply, but she also knew why he worried so.She'd been in such bad shape when she'd finally crawled her way back to her ebony mate, finally collapsed inside the den and slept for over two days and barely ate for a week. After that first dangerous week Khepri finally started to eat and fill out like a normal lioness. Finally started to become healthy once again, her belly bloated with food... and now cubs.
It was only natural that he worried when he'd had to see her like that. So weak. As an ex-firekin Khepri still had her pride that ran deep with her blood, and it had withered during that time, angered and upset that she looked so horrible. Maybe that was why she'd eaten so much.
"Kota... Ah'll be fine an' ya know it. If th' gods wanted meh ta die they'da taken meh all tha' time Ah was sick." Khepri whispered softly, nuzzling at her mate's large neck gently and reassuringly. "An if yo' wish meh ta lay down in th' sun Ah'll do it, jus' ta make ya feel bettah abou' meh 'ealth. 'sides, th' sun feels nice on mah fur. Warmer than Ah been in a while."
Her tail flicked up against one of his hips and she nosed at him gently. She wanted him to know that she'd make it. She knew of his fears but she had them herself as well and was simply ignoring them. It was time for them to be ignored, time for the two to look foreward to a new happy life together that they'd always wanted. Having always wanted to be with Kota, Khepri had to admit that she was happier than she'd been with her wandering.
Now that part of her life was closed, over... and a new life was growing before her. A life with the male of her dreams and hopes.

the dark male was quiet for a long moment, his mind clearly thinking over the situation they were now in. The smile never left his pmaw though his eyes seemed glassy. "I best be a goin' along ta tha king." He paused for a long silent moment his pale nose wrinkling. "I best make sure we can stay 'ere I woudln' want our babes ta be born any where else."
He smiled grooming her neck and throat before looking down at her belly. "An ye lil sailers, ye look after ye mam while yer in thar" he grinned playfully nudhing Khepri under the chin and smiling. "C'mon lassy, lets get ye back up ta tha den ey?" he smiled softly, those coal black eyes full of adoration for his honey red mate.
"Ah'll go an' speak ta tha king an bring ye summit good back fer lunch, ows that sound?" He smiled admireing her for a long moment, Khepri as all he ever wanted in a mate, beautiful, strong and proud. He belonged to her and always would she was all he needed in the world and together they would bring life in to the world.
The thought hit him quite suddenly then "I'm gunna be a dad?" he laughed rautiously, "Never thought that would appen." He grinned, his dark eyes shimmering like a pair of onyx marbles.

Slowly she rose to her paws and nosed at Kota's side. She knew that he was concerned about her, however Khepri knew that there was a reason that she was pregnant now and she figured that it wouldn't be so if she couldn't survive it. Therefore there was nothing to worry about... right?
"Ah'll jus' lay ou'side th' cave, alrigh'?" Khepri purred to him, her eyes smiling at him and her tongue grooming at her dark mate's large ears and fluffy mane. She truley did love him endlessly. "An' ya know Ah'll be taken care 'o them mah love."
Her golden eyes leveled at him in a 'oh come off it' look and she chuckled faintly as she flicked her tail against his leg. He looked so happy despite his worry. Like a big kid even though he was going to be a father, maybe this was a good thing. Maybe their love had created soemthing that would make them both the happiest parents ever?
It was like a gift after so long wandering. To have a family like the one she'd missed. Well... not like them, but different, better, a REAL family.
"Yes mah love. Yo'll be a father." Khepri said softly, grinning over at him with a playful look on her large muzzle.

Padding up the slight slope of the beach 'Kotas mind drifted to the situation they were in. He had dreamed of being a father , it just hadn't been a dream he had expected at this moment. Still he couldn't help but smile, there was noone in the world bar for Khepri that he wanted to have cubs with. He knew that she was strong and when she was healthy she shone with unrivlled strength. At the moment though, he couldn't help but worry about her. Cubs. They were to be parents.
He took his time padding back up the beach with his shoulder pressed tightly against his soft red mate,s he looked so wonderful to him, like she was glowing in the bright sunlight. His dark eyes glimmered and he licked her neck once again as he stopped at the mouth of the den. "Na don' ye move lassy, ah'll be back." He grins standing back a little to admire her. "Ah'll bring yer somethin' good ta eat an maybe brin' tha capn' ta see yer."
He let a slow sigh escape his lips, he almost didn't want to leave Khepri here on the sand alone for any amount of time, but things needed to be done he needed to make sure that theyw ould forever be welcome here, him and his mate and children. The only place in the world he wanted to raise his family.
Touching her nose withhis own in a kitty kiss he smiled roguishly. "don' miss me too much alrigh' won't be gone too long." He laughed then and turned to head towards the other dens further up the beach. He had to have words with Tamba, their future depended on it.
