He relaxed a little now that the other girl was settling down. This was better. This he could handle. He didn't realize he had hurt the girl's feeling in the process...not yet anyways. Feeling a little less uneasy now that the girl was more quiet, he shrugged, loosening his grip on the item slightly now that he was more at ease.
"I dunno." he admitted with a shrug. "It just feels right."
He wasn't sure why he carried the club around, or even where he had gotten it. But it made him feel good, made him feel less scared. That was all that really mattered to the boy. It reminded of a better time...of the time before. He couldn't remember the time entirely- it was patchy as best, but he did remember that it had been a good time. The bone club and helmet were really the only things he had left from that Time.
Ian accepted the card, turning it over in his fingers as he examined the writing. Another hyper one? Ah, but most young kids were supposed to be energetic anyways. Maybe if Toby hung around enough of these energetic ones, he might come out of his shell more quickly... or on the flip side, he may withdraw even more. Nik was no child psychologist, after all. He really hoped it'd be the first one, at any rate.
"Fathers...?" he repeated curiously, pocketing the card. "I'll have to give them a call. Toby need to make more friends..."

Tyra continued to fiddle with the sand listening though a bit disinterested in the cubones words. It made him feel good? how could a bone make someone feel good? She didn't understand and the longer she sat there being quite the more she wanted to run around making noise.
She released her vines out slowly to look at them. Waving them in front of her face and letting her hands touch each one. She had more than two vines, six in total actually. It probably made her more scary than before, but she was too absorbed in her own thoughts to really think about how it would effect the boy Toby. She was trying to figure out how they made her look scary.
Jayoku smothered a laugh at Ian's response to the 'fathers'. "Ah yes...though Baldric is a bit more of the unwilling father whilst Hari is more fatherly. It is a bit of a complected situation I suppose.. But you will have to ask them on it." she said with another giggle.

He noted the girls lack of interest and huffed a little. Why'd she ask him if she wasn't going to pay any attention? The one thing he actually liked and she didn't care. Fine. It's not like he cared much about her either.
As she released all of her vines again, he scooted himself back some more, eyeing her warily. His hand clutched his club again, and he lifted it a little. He didn't know what she was doing with those vies or why they made him so uneasy, but he knew he'd be ready to lash out if he had to.
Vines themselves weren't scary. It's a plant. Big deal. It wasn't that they were gross or creepy either...they just didn't feel right to him. He didn't like it when things didn't feel right.
"Stop doin' that." he said nervously. "It's weird..."
Ian nodded slowly. "Ah yes, I know all about complicated situations..." he murmured, smiling. "I may wait a little bit though before throwing Toby into socialization again- not too long, but perhaps a day or so. He seems...uneasy and I don't want to over-stress him." he stated, looking at his charge, noting the boy's unease.

Tyra looked over to him her vines still out whilst she petted one of them. "Weird? I guess they are a bit weird." she said with a chuckle trying to remain optimistic. She was finding that this was what was the word she was looking for? Right; awkward.
"Why should I stop?" she continued wondering what was the big deal. Her vines played with her necklaces as she then was picking through them one by one to find the one she wanted, with her vines helping her she got the necklace off and then stared at it a long time before she withdrew her vines back into her body and then turned to face the boy.
He had backed up a ways, so she leaned forward offering the 'make peace' gift to him. The necklace was made with earth tones, browns and dark dark green, with brown leather forming the necklace part.
"Here." She said with a happier smile on her face. "I'm sorry." she continued not sure why she was sorry but felt like she owed the boy an apology.
Jayoku sighed and nodded her head. "Yes well...perhaps this is a good meeting for Tyra. I haven't seen her this quite in a ...well..never actually." She noted looking over noticing the girl was offering a necklace to the boy. A sure sign she liked him enough to part with one of her treasures.

"Not strange..." he said, trying to convey his idea better.
He was young, so his articulate expression of thoughts and feeling weren't as top-notch as an older child would have been. Plus, this was the first time he'd had such an aversive feeling to something.
"Not scary either...but they make me feel...funny." he said, seeming increasingly frustrated with his inability to express what he felt- or even identify and understand the feeling.
He figured that statement was enough to answer why she should stop as well. They made him feel funny. It wasn't polite to make someone feel that way, right? He was completely oblivious to the fact he was undoubtedly making her feel 'funny' or awkward as well...
He stiffed a bit as she leaned in again, furrowing his brows under his helmet. She was holding out a necklace now...why? Was she giving it to him? He'd never had another kid give him a gift before. Sure gorwn-ups like Nik had given him stuff, but...they were grown-ups. This was different. He eyed her suspiciously. A necklace? Boys didn't wear necklaces. But...it was impolite to refuse a gift, or so he had learned. He didn't want to be rude. He felt like he would be letting her down. She had worked so hard to teach him...he remembered, a little bit.
He kept a grip on his bone club with one hand and leaned to to take the trinket with the other hand. "...thanks." he murmured politely, looking up at her.
Ian nodded. "Yes, he has that effect on people. I was worried she'd be put off by how serious Toby is, though. He can be rather rejecting at times. He's rather quiet and not as playful as other children his age are...but after what he's been through I suppose it's to be expected. But as I've said a million times, maybe getting out will be good for him." he smiled weakly, blushing a litte. Lord, he sucked at conversation. He was just repeating himself now. Damn Ian, it looks like Toby's not the only on who needs to get out into the flow of things...

Him taking the gift was the same as saying he was agreeing to be her friend. She gave a happy glee of a sound her leaf wiggling happily. Funny couldn't be a bad thing, so now she didn't feel quite so 'off' talking to Tobais.
"I know boys don't wear necklaces but you could wear it as a belt. It is big enough." she said with a tilt of her head like she had read his mind. though she had seen some guys wearing interesting collar type necklaces before, but not many wearing the types of necklaces she had.
"The beads match you though. So i think they would look really good on you." she continued with a nod.
Rolling her shoulders she shifted on the spot a bit, Ian certainly wasn't very...um she couldn't place the work she was looking for; but she knew it existed. Now it would be bugging her till she got home and looked in a thetheorus.
"Well all you can do is try and get him out and about and hope he moves past it. He is young I am sure it won't scar him forever. Just a while anyway." Jayoku explained with a smile and thought Ian looked cute blushing like that.

He held the necklace in his hands gently, simply watching her, brow cocked under his helm. He pulled at it lightly, noting the size and the cord's stretchiness. It probably could fit around his waist, though it would still be a funny-looking belt. It would be like...wearing a jump-rope around your waist and calling it a belt- it didn't belong there and would look funny.
Still, even if he didn't wear it, he'd at least keep it with the rest of his possessions. It wouldn't get shoved in a closet or drawer, at any rate. It was a gift, and gifts were meant to be treated with care.
"...no one's ever given me a gift before." he mumbled. "Except for grown-ups." he added, so he wouldn't be lying.
Ian looked back out at the kids. At least Toby seemed to be talking to the girl. Maybe this was a step in the right direction after all. He hadn't bopped her or made her cry, so he supposed things were going better than he had expected.
He tended to keep his expectations low, as awful as it sounded. That way, it allowed him to be less disappointed in the long run. Setting yourself up too high didn't do any good at all, anyways.
"Yes, Toby's a strong boy. I'm sure he'll recover in time. It's just getting him up over the hump of things." he agreed. He wished he was better at small talk. "Your child seems to be positively outgoing, by the way. You've clearly done a good job parenting." he complimented politely.

Tyra listened with interest. She made a mental note that if she came across Toby again she would make sure to give him another gift.
"I got this from my best friend Fenrir!" she said showing the cubone boy the friendship bracelet that as attached to her left hand. It was one of her precious items. A bracelet with a promise to her best friend to basically stay friends forever.
"And I like you so why wouldn't I give you a gift?" she said here eyes closing in a happy sort of way.
Jayoku nodded her head, true her daughter was affectionate but almost to the extreme side. SHe had no sense of personal space....and was too loud for her own good. She meant well...at least there was that she guessed.
"ah...well yes I am proud of her attitude towards life. SHe never lets things bother her for long...though she needs to learn more about how to act towards others. Not everyone can appreciate her 'gifts' or 'talents' like she can..." she said with a mournful sigh.

He examined the bracelet the girl showed him politely, nodding. Fenrir? Who was he (Toby was unaware Fenrir was female- it sounded like a boy's name to him)? Was he another person like him? He wasn't aware exactly what he was, only that he was different. What had they called him? A Hybrid?
"Is he like us?" he ventured curiously.
Or was this Fenrir like the others? He decided that Fenrir was probably a hybrid- why make friends with the others? They stared at you, whispered all the time...how bothersome. Why even bother with that type?
As she explained her reasoning, he turned the gift over in his hands a bit more. She liked him? They just met, though. How could she know if she liked him so soon? Still, he kept quiet and bobbed his head. It made sense- he always heard you gave things to people you liked. She used to give him gifts; he liked to think that meant She liked him... Even if she left him in the end. But...she didn't mean to, right? That's what they told him, that she didn't choose to go away, that it just happened...
He didn't like to think of it. It made his head hurt and his tummy feel funny.
Nik leaned back against the bench and closed his eyes, listening to Jayoku speak, smiling lightly. He was perfectly content to listen to others and let them bring things up- it was only bringing up conversations himself that made him uneasy.
"She certainly is positive. But that's a good thing- optimists have lower blood pressure and generally live longer." he smiled. "Trust me, I'm a doctor." he winked.

It was an odd question. But Toby was an odd sort of kid. At least that was what Tyra was gathering from her brief interaction together. She didn't even notice that Toby had referred to Fenrir as a boy.
“Yah! Fenrir is an...oh what was it called...” she muttered thinking some to herself before brightening, like alight bulb went on in her mind. “Right an evee! She is an evee.” she said with obvious proud she remembered at all the girls hybrid type.
She was very unaware of the cubone's uneasiness, as she just watched him fiddle with the necklace she had given to him. “You would like her too! I call her a Princess cause she always dresses in pretty clothes....” she trailed off and then gave a laugh. “Mama says I am too hard on my clothes so I shouldn't wear dresses and nice stuff cause I would just wreck it.” she continued sounding un perturbed by the fact this was technically a flaw about her she didn't see.
Jayoku gave a laugh, “Oh? Well then I guess her being so happy is a good thing. Makes me wonder at all if she can angry at all. I have never seen her angry..” she mused and then gave a look to Nikolai as if interested in his profession.
“oh? A doctor you say? What kind?” she asked politely, since he could specialize in something and not just be a generic doctor.

So Fenrir was another Hybrid like them? It made him feel less alone to meet and hear of others. For awhile, he had thought he was the only one like this. He hadn't seen any other Hybrids until now, really. Until Nikolai had told him there were others similar to him, he had felt like he was the only one like this, that there was something wrong with him. It was a terrible feeling for such a little boy.
Fenrir was an Eevee? What exactly was an Eevee- aside from a Hybrid, that is? He felt as though he should know that fact but...he just wasn't sure. The curiosity of what an Eevee was made him want to meet the girl (apparently, Fenrir was a girl). After listening to Tyra speak about the other Hybrid, he inclined his head in understanding.
"Fenrir sounds like a boy name." he observed. He had been paying attention to what she had said, but from his comment, it seemed like he hadn't really been listening. But he just didn't have anything to say on the topic.
Ian smiled as Jayoku spoke of how positive her child was. perhaps some of her good charm would rub off onto Toby. At least there hadn't been any fights, so Nik ruled this as a successful interaction thus far.
"I suppose you should count your blessings for now. Things are always so much easier when people are happy and compliant. I bet you'll see sparks come the teenage years, though. I've heard teenagers are something else...and that's with just humans. Who knows how Hybrids will be. But then again, her good will may carry over and you'll end up having a much easier time than most parents..." he mused.
As she asked what his specialty was, he cleared his throat and smiled. Ah, here was a topic he knew about. "I do a lot of things as far as being a medical doctor goes, but my main specialization is in Cardiology. The heart and the circulatory system...it always fascinated me." he said, looking a bit more at ease now.

Tyra never though of that. A boy's name? Even as she thought on it she couldn't picture a boy having that sort of name. Maybe because she kept picturing a boy wearing a pink dress and tiara.
"Nah, Fenrir is Fenrir. And she is very much a girl." she continued with a nod of her head. "I wish I could be more like her. She has soft fur and a long tail." she continued sounding a bit wistful about the fact. Her own tail a little stub that could barely be called a tail.
Jayoku hadn't thought on that. Would Tyra end up growing into a moody depressed teenager? Ones who's boundless energy found a limit and then plummeted? The very idea made her feel a bit sick to her stomach.
She forced her face to remain polite and interested. She didn't want to alarm the good man beside her. "Oh? That does sound really interesting. How long did you have to go to school for that?" she asked.

Toby sat and dug at the dirt a bit. Yeah, he got that she was a girl. She said that already- he didn't need an affirmation. Still...it didn't change the fact it sounded like a boy's name. Or maybe something you'd name a pet (he kept that thought to himself, though).
At the mention of tails, he looked back at his own. It was a decent length, but it wasn't terribly furry at all. In fact, he wasn't terribly fuzzy. Maybe a short, short layer of fur (Cubones didn't exactly have long fur)..but not a plush amount. Still, he never cared about his fur being so short. He was how he was, and that was that. Wishing for things like longer fur or having your parent back wouldn't make it happen. It was a painful truth he learned to accept.
"I have a tail. Not very furry though." he iterated with a shrug. Still, the more they spoke of Fenrir, the more he wanted to see her. He was curious.
He felt like he was rambling. He wasn't blabbing that much, but whenever he spoke about himself, he felt like he was merely prattling on.
"It' not so interesting to hear about it...you'd have to live it, I suppose." he sighed. "School...yeah. Lots of it. Med school was a good eight years and then to get the specialization...yeah, I was in class a lot. Maybe around ten to twelve years? It has been too long. Worth it, though. I make good money and have a job I love. Been working there for about ten years..."
Had it really been that long? Now he felt old. Well, he knew he was old- 42 wasn't a young age- but spelling it out like that always made him feel older than normal.
"Ah, now I feel old." he laughed. "What about you? What do you do?"

Suddenly being pointed to the fact Toby had a tail she got on her hands and knees and crawled around so she could get a better look. Tails interested her greatly, mainly cause she had such a little one. She herself had no fur, smooth and slightly rubbery like plastic kinda like how some plants were waxy to keep in water.
"your tail is neat!" she agreed as she got a better look at it. "Its long but different from Corbin or Fenrir!" She continued with a nod of a head.
Jayoku listened intently, for it would be rude otherwise to not pay attention. After all she had been the one to ask the question. She was impressed by his dedication and offered a smile at his comment of feeling old.
"your only as old as you feel. I think your dedication is really impressive." She said with a casual laugh. And when the question turned onto herself she put a finger up to her lip and looked like she was thinking pretty hard.
"Well I am a graphic designer. Been in it for about 5 years now." she answered but wasn't exactly sure what else to say about her profession. It wasn't like she went to school for eons.

He tried to turn to look at her a little uneasily as she circled around to see his tail. He defensively gathered up what he could and pulled it around, nervously rubbing the end.
"...I guess." he shrugged. Neat? It was...just his tail. He didn't see it as special. At the mention fo another name, he tilted his head again. "Corbin...?"
Only as old as you feel...Silas always said the same thing. Though even in that case he felt pretty old...
Dedication? He supposed that was one of his stronger points, diligence. "Impressive? Hm, perhaps. But it's not that hard to dedicate yourself to something you really like..." he responded, looking at Toby. He'd dedicated himself to the boy as well, it seemed.
He nodded as the topic moved to back to the girl. He didn't like the spotlight being on him too long. Made him a little uneasy, even if it was a topic he could talk freely about. Made him feel like a bore, a blowhard.
"Graphic Design...it must be a fascinating field. I could never do anything artistic- whether it be drawing, photography or design. I guess I just don't have an eye for it." he laughed.
