Ah, so it looked like the extra ice was a good idea. "Glad you like it," Mouse responded with an eased smile, feeling much less afraid now that Roux seemed calm and content. After taking a few drinks of her own, she added, "There's plenty of it in the pitcher over there, so feel free to help yourself if you want any more."

The Raevan's touch is cold from the glass he had been holding a second ago, but that doesn't stop Mitya from enjoying those gentle fingers stroking his head. The cat part of him became that much more apparent as he rumblegurgled into a velvety purring machine, with his previously wide eyes drooping down into relaxed little crescents until shutting completely, while he pushed up his large head against the Raevan's hand in a silent demand for more pettings.

Roux ignored Mouse, reaching out with his other hand to touch one of Mitya's ears, a ghost of a smile making the corner of his mouth turn upward almost whistfully. He lets his hands slide down and toy with the strange tentacled paws, enjoying the almost rubbery lack of fur on the bottoms before he situaties his hands and... lifts Mitya up. There is a moment where he almost struggles with the awkward shift of weight in Mitya's mass, but managed to bring the feline-octopus to his chest, petting it's large, rounded head.

"Mitya."

The icy Frei lifting up Fredmitri like that was quite an interesting sight, with the chimera's weight trying to pull down his floating admirer. After a few seconds of wobbling, though, he was comfortably nested in Roux's pale arms, purring all the louder now that he had a chest to press and rub his face into. Seeing the Raevan's almost invisible smile was a reminder to his host that although dangerous, he was still more or less a child who still had a great deal to learn about the world. Having his owner go missing like that must have been making him lonely (at least in some sense of the word).

"Roux... do you mind if I ask you a question? It's kind of important," Mouse ventured, her carefully-made-placid voice just barely carrying over the motorboat that Mitya had become. She waited a few awkward moments for a response, and then asked, "Are you still staying with Natsuki?" Sure, she didn't mind having him visit as long as he didn't freeze over her house. Whoever was currently taking care of him, however, might have been worried about where he had gone. It looked to the greenhead that the roc must have just wandered outside-- how else would he have suddenly turned up at her house like this?

Roux looked contimplativly down at the catopuss, continuing to pet it's ears and along the great curve of it's rounded head. He only dimly heard Mouse over the rumbling that Mitya was creating. It felt warm and comfortable... he blinked, startled as a strange, foreign thought trickled into his mind.

He was finally making something else happy, and he found he enjoyed it.

He glanced up at Mouse, his expression finally showing his youth for once. All the haughty aloof pride that he held himself up with was washed away by Mitya. His eyes were a bit... sad, afraid.. perhaps lonely? He seemed to struggle with something for a moment, holding Mitya close like a child might hold a teddy to keep the shadows away, staring blindly at the table in front of him.

"Riv'ner... Aphi.. Isi... Eiry." He was staying with them, not Natsuki. He gave a soft, absent sound in the back of his throat, like a groan. His eyes flicked down to Mitya's face and he gently pet the fuzzy octo-cat, speaking more to it than Mouse. "Miss her. Why..."

He'd never missed her before. There was a saying that Chloe had said to Roux once, when he'd thrown a tantrum over some trinket that she'd gotten for him. He had hardly turned a glance at it for most of it's shelf-life until it she'd accidently knocked it over and broke it while cleaning.

'You don't know what you've got until it's gone.''

He was only just beginning to get an idea about what that meant.

The contrast between how the roc looked now compared to just a while ago when he showed up at Mouse's porch was startling when thought was given to it. First he was a temperamental sociopath, disapproving of almost everything that wasn't directly praising or pleasing him, wanting to be the ice caps on which the axis of the world revolved... and now, with the happy chimera in his arms, he was nothing more or less than a child. Sad, confused, and troubled, wondering what happened to the threatening predator he was before.

"Oh, the Delaran house. I know where that is," Roux's host nods. She had met Eiry and Isi the other night, and would probably never forget the small ordeal she had gone through when Eiry panicked at the sound of her car. He had wandered all the way here from over there? Wow.

Fredmitri had no answers to provide for Roux's confusion, being unable to speak... so with all the hazards that came with walking on thin ice, the green girl explored a response instead. "It's normal to miss someone who cares for you... which might be strange since it's painful, but it's true," Mouse meekly provided.

Roux took Mouse's words with silence, continuing to look down at Mitya's big green eyes. To miss.. it was painful but..

He looked up, a little of that selfishness creeping back onto his expression as he possessivly held Mitya. "Mitya miss you yes." He pouted... he would miss Mitya too but Mouse had said that he was her's.. and she took care of him.

Would Mitya be sad if he took him away? He didn't want to make Mitya sad, he liked making the catopuss purr and look up at him lovingly with those giant lime eyes. There was a new satisfaction he'd discovered in pleasing others, and better yet - it gave him pleasure as well. A strange.. warm one.

Ah, now he's getting it... Mouse nodded slowly to Roux's statement after taking a moment to decipher what he meant with those four small words. "If I lost him, yeah. He'd miss me. And I'd miss him too... and I bet she misses you a lot right now." After that experience earlier, she was pensive about saying Chloe's name again, but was sure that the Raevan would understand. As if trying to get the point across in his own way, Fredmitri offered a small, questioning 'meow?' that was slightly muffled by the furs around the Frei's neck.

"You can come and visit him anytime, if you want. Just not really late at night." Poor Chloe. Wherever she was, she would probably be getting a chill up her spine knowing that someone had just said something to encourage her Raevan to wander across town alone and unsupervised. "And..." she began to venture, wondering if it was her place to offer such a thing, "If... you think there's something I could help you with... I'll do anything I can. Just knock on my door, or have someone at where you're staying call me. They have my number."

Slowly the Roc Frei set Mitya back down on the table, having to pluck away one or two paws that insisted upon sticking to him. He straightened, mostly bare wings flaring slightly as he lifted his chin to look with regality at Mouse.

Chloe was missing him...? He never cared about it before but that thought made him feel a bit.. happy.

He gave a curt nod toward the woman, picking up his glass of ice tea once more and finishing it. The rain outside was slowing to a light patter and he glanced toward a window so he wouldn't have to look at the two-legs. Pride swelled up within him, making him want to lash out at her for offering something so stupid, he'd never accept.. would he? No one had ever talked to him like this before...

"Better say yes do.." He paused, clenching his hands into fists in frustraiton. He spoke in careful measure, obviously upset over his 'disability'. "Do... yes. Say." It was the best he could do. The icy Raeven began moving away, he was finished.. the rain was slowing, perhaps stopping, and while he enjoyed some of the new things that had crept up on him while here there were other things, new things he had to mull over. To consider and think of. The meaning, the merit behind these concepts.

He paused at the door, turning back to glower moodily at the female and her creature. Flippantly he raised a hand to wave to them... he didn't want them to know that he actually.. -wanted- to wave goodbye. Roux crossed his arms over his chest, half hoping that they hadn't seen, even though that didn't really make any sense.
