(Thanks, i'm really proud of it. 3nodding )

She eventually returned with a glass of tea in hand, and something else in the other. A quick inspection proved it to be a bowl full of water, which she wordlessly placed near his feet, not even saying a word to him before she wandered a short ways off to take a seat on one of the many benches that dotted the estate. One who looked about would note that the gardens were actually quite nice and calming.

As for Viecada herself, she was not yet genuinely surprised. A bodyguard had to be tough to win the honor, and any less performance than what he showed so far would have made her flat out kill him in disappointment. As it was, she was finally getting into an area that she expected to be the bare minimum of capability required to walk away from her test with his life. The clinking of ice in her tea was the only thing to mar her thoughts as she watched him dispassionately.

Water, now there was and old trick. Kal had fallen for that one when he was younger. Shelah’s grandmother was trying to train Kal to be obedient. Kal hade made the foolish mistake in thinking the water was a gesture in kindness. For his mistake he had reserved fifty lashes, apparently that was a generous punishment. The old women had spared killing Kal because he was young and could still be trained. He still had the marks on his back to show for it, along with several scars along his stomach, legs, arms, and a few mental ones. If it wasn’t for his cloths and armor Kal would look like a piece of raw meat.

Viecada would have to try harder to brake him that way. The old hag was far more cruel. The old ones always seemed far worst then the younger ones. Probably had a lot to do with the every closer coming death. Death had to be a man, because only a man that one of these women couldn’t control could scare them so much. Kal actually smiled inside with that thought. And fought harder to hold back the smirk then to hold up the bricks.

‘I wonder what’s next up this witches sleeve? Wait, does she have sleeves?’

For once, ironically enough, he had her pegged wrong. Viecada was indeed, very much like he thought, but the water was not actually a test. It was... Water. Certainly, she hadn't given him a glass simply for the fact that she didn't view him as human, but she didn't want him dying on her, either. Pragmatism fueled her actions.

Of course, she was entirely unaware of his thoughts, and if she had been aware, she would have been laughing by then. Instead, she took a sip of the tea, and stared off into the sky, waiting patiently for him to reach his limit.

((forgive my absence. I was at the Renaissance festival this weekend. Couldn’t pass something like that up))

Kal was starting to sweat along his face and back. His hair was plastered to his forehead and checks and his muscles were tighter then ever before. Kal had begun to use his legs for more support. My tensing his legs he could relieve a small amount of pressure on his arms. It was not much, but it was still something. He continued to keep thoughts of Shelah and other events in his mind. He had to hold out as long as he could.

(Can't blame ya.)

She was beginning to get bored. He was lucky she had a practical purpose for testing him, or else she would have long since used her magic to cause him enough pain to make him drop it and mask it as a natural occurrence, taking the opportunity to belittle him. However, she kept her emotions and impatience in check. There was no sign on her cold face that she was considering such skullduggery.

Kal could feel his cloths starting to become wet with sweat. He had lost track of time and was now focusing on the bricks themselves. He kept looking at them and turning his head slightly as if examining them. The weight was starting to become hard to ignore.

His left arm dropped a inch, but Kal held the brick and in place. He looked over at Viecada who was still watching in a relaxed manner. This endeavor was coming close to its end but Kal still felt like he should be holding out for something. Either her to say enough or her to make him drop the bricks.

She smiled to herself, noting that his arms weren't nearly as steady as before. he had managed for longer than she had expected, but she wasn't really shocked. Perhaps they had chosen him for a reason. Still, he had that rebellious look in his eyes, one she knew so well. It was unfortunate. When they got as old as he did, it was hard to break them of it. Inwardly she sighed, knowing that the proper techniques weren't applicable here, since they would be upset if she damaged their slave. How aggravating... She would certainly be talking to the child's mother about her training habits.

‘Not long now. My arms fill like mud and my legs are starting to burn. Just…a bit…more though…'

Kal’daka was bent at his knees now and his arms had dropped about an inch. His eyes were narrowed and his teeth greeted. Pain was seeping it way into his mind an clouding his control. His mind told him to just drop the bricks but his heart told him to never give up.

He spread his legs wider to give himself a better base and slowly spread his arms apart until they were almost perfectly horizontal. The change in position was giving him a small bit of extra push. Now he tried to re-focus his mind as he had don with his arms and legs.

Pain was a wicked foe however. It attacked every section of his body and every fiber of his being. His defenses were almost gone, and soon pain would wash over him and cause his body to go limp. His body would take over to try and save itself whether Kal liked it or not.
