“That’s what your father said,” she said quietly, her eyes taking on the same troubled look that they had that first day she had met Jean-Claude. She shook her head slowly, a small sigh passing her mocha maw, “but that is not the truth. Perhaps if you didn’t know them and were not aware that they existed, then that could possibly be true. However, if you knew they were alive and just did not know them, it would haunt you.” Her voice had been almost unbearably quiet, and she shook her head as she finished speaking. She typically didn’t like this sort of subject.

“My sons are marvelous, although, one of this is admittedly a bit more of a nuisance than the other,” she said with a small smile. Shaking her head, she let her smile fade slowly into a smirk, “although, Khilan has gone travelling recently and has left me with his slightly wild brother. Not that Cerek has been home lately, either.” She frowned, realizing that her sons were grown and having their own lives now – she was obviously not pleased at being deserted and probably would have felt worse about it had Jean-Claude not come to stay.

She wasnt sure if it ate her up more now, knowing they hated her, then if she had never met the siblings. Actually, Memory had taken a fond note of Naina.
Yeah, it had been a rough start, but it seemed Memory was much like the mother Naina had only met once. Kind, and forgiving.

"Im not sure. I guess I'll never know the answer to that one."
She said, voice also low as she looked to the ground.

Wait. Did she say Cerek?
Why was that name pinging in her ears like a crazy gnat?

Waitwaitwait..

"Cerek? I think Daddy spoke of him.. I believe I know why he's missing, if he is indeed the stallion daddy spoke of."

She remembered seeing the stallion once while Mara and him were walking. She had asked daddy about it. He said Mara had said his name was Cerek.

"That must mean that your son is courting one of my teepee mates."

She said, not really saying if she liked said teepeemate or not. Fact was, she did not. But this mare wouldnt care to hear that, and she didnt particularly want the mare to know she had fought Mara at one point.

Contrary to what one might believe, Shaitani knew the wills of her younger son better than most of those that he spent his time with. Of course, he was only younger by a few minutes, although his personality typically seemed much less mature than his older, steadier brother. Still, she knew him well and knew his intentions and it wouldn’t surprise her if he had collected quite a few enemies along the way. He was a manwhore, as simple as that, and those types of stallions typically collected quite a few enemies on their way to the top. Cerek would not be spared such things even if she did think of him more fondly simply because he was her son. That was just how he was, however, and although she did not always agree with his actions, she loved him all the same.

“Courting? Well, if you want to label it with so innocent a word,” she said with a little quirk of her brow, a smirk tracing the fine line of her maw. “I’m not sure I would ever call it such a thing. Seduction, manipulation, whoring – those words fit him a little better.” She shook her head, sending her short blue tuft tossing lightly with the action, although a look of mirth was resting on her maw. She should have known that she would one day encounter those touched by Cerek’s charm in one manner or another, even if indirectly.

“I know what Cerek is, so you don’t have to hide that look of distaste I know is lurking behind your pretty eyes,” she said with a rather kind voice, her tail flickering softly and sending her little braided streaks in a whirl. “I love him, but he was a particularly difficult foal, and I think he’s turned out the best he possibly could under such circumstances. He’s kind, at least, and respectful to at least some degree and that’s all I could hope for. I’d hate to think how he would have turned out had I not had Khilan to rely on at times.” Taking care of Cerek had made Khilan grow up a little too quickly, so that there was a stark difference in their personalities. Khilan was the responsible, caring gentleman. Cerek, although a gentleman, was a little more widely spread in his ‘caring’.

Quickly the mare realized that Shaitani thought that the look of distaste she was trying hard to hide, meant it was directed at her son.
Quite the contrary.

Smiling and shaking her head, she spoke.

"Oh no, I do not dislike him. He was handsome, and I really never spoke to him. No need to waste energy despising someone I dont know. No, I am angry at the mare of which he is seeing."

And knowing Mara, she was just enjoying the physical pleasures of being a mare with this stallion. She was a good girl, really. There had to be some other reason for their playing, if thats indeed what Mara was letting him do.

"Marahute isnt exactly.. High on my friends list.. Or enemies list for that matter. She really doesnt mean much to me anymore."

She said, matter-of-factly as she tossed her own braided ebony mane.

She smirked softly as she glanced off in the distance, a little laugh following from her pretty maw. “He certainly is handsome – he looks a lot like his father.” She smiled softly, although it seemed to have a vaguely sad hint about it. “He knows how to use what was given to him though, and I suppose that’s all I can hope for with him. If he let it go to waste, it would be another matter. Although, I really hope he doesn’t bring me home a mess of grandfoals anytime soon.” She wrinkled her nose slightly at the thought, although she did seem vaguely amused.

“It’s too bad when we lose our friends,” she said quietly, turning her eyes back towards the mare with a little smile. “I’ve lost one that I would have chosen not to had the circumstances been any different,” she shrugged it off as if it wasn’t important. “Of course, had that been the case, I wouldn’t be here talking to you about your father,” she said with a small smile, weak, but a smile none-the-less.

She smiled. Oh her father. That was why she was talking to this mare. She had made it a point to find out about the mare as well. If father loved her, then she should very well get to know things about this mare.

She flicked her tail of ebony curls as her eyes cast themselves back Shaitani.
She supposed father would be very angry if he had found that she had come and conversed with the very heart he had fallen in love with. But hadnt she just pushed them in the right direction?
Indeed she had, and that was all that mattered. Of course, even if Shai had not known of fathers confessions and she herself had just told a huge secret.. It didnt matter, as she had just helped in her own special way.

Unsure of what to say anymore, the mare looked back at Shaitani, smiling.

"Well, I must be off. I have some major things to do before winter arrives and freezes me out of my own home. It was a pleasure to meet you, Shaitani, and I do hope to hear from you again."
She mused, smiling.

"Do me a favor? Give father my warm regards? I dont see him much anymore. I only get the surprise of running into him every now and again."

[We can go ahead and end this one, Maybe we could make another one for Shai and JC?]

"I'll tell him," she said with a small smile as the soquili mare began to bring their conversation and their meeting a close. This really had been a breath of fresh air - she hadn't talked to another mare in ages. Even if this one was more or less a daughter-to-be in a way and a bit younger than she was herself, it was still good to finally be able to talk in a manner one only could with other females. She had spent a long time only in the company of males and no matter how kind she had raised her sons to be and no matter how sweet Jean-Claude was, there was a certain type of feeling that came only with a female's conversation.

"It was very nice to meet you as well, Naina, but don't be such a stranger around here." She meant that more for her father's sake than for her own. She enjoyed talking to her, but Jean-Claude really should spend more time with the one child that didn't hate him or dislike him. She smiled then and turned away, trotting off in the direction she had originally been headed when Naina intercepted her - back home. To Jean-Claude.
