The question was pondered for a moment as she carefully considered what best to say to such a query. "I do indeed find it interesting but as to why, a great multitude of things make it so. If I were to pick but one though, I would say simply for the understanding of death's mechanics. It isn't often one is offered up such knowlegdge..."

"You could find the same information from that little one that Rosalie is holding," Aure said. "Or me. I have died before." She yawned widely, then looked over at Josie again. "Is it possible you don't know what your child is?"
Rosalie tugged on the woman's sleeve. "What's the baby's name," she whispered, smiling tentatively.

"If only it were as simple as that...there is much more than simply having died but..." The latter caught her off guard. What he was? Josie looked at the child and arched a brow, staring at him as though he would announce the answer at any moment. This was impossible though and Josie knew that she hadn't an idea in the slightest as to what he or she or they were. "Not...precisely. I don't know what he is and," she looked to the younger girl, a smile playing upon her features. "His name is Victor."
Victor made a soft sound at having had his name announced, accentuating that he was INDEED Victor and that that was his name indeed.

She lifted her eyebrows and idly fanned her face with a hand. "He's an Illusionary," Aurelius said plainly. It was clear from her voice that she resented the implication that there was something to be gained from not dying that she hadn't gained from the act itself, but she was still helpful. "He started out as flecks of light, correct?"
Rosalie giggled and tickled Victor's chin lightly.

"Illusionary..." Josie repeated the word before nodding and turning her attentions to the child. "He DID start out as something of a whisp, although it was difficult to get a good look when Avedis came."

Aure's loose grip on her charge's arm quickly turned painful for Rosalie, and she whimpered. "Avedis," the blonde said. "That son of a-" She seemed to remember that there were two children in her presence, and let go of Rosalie's tiny wrist. "You've met him, too." It wasn't a question.

Victor wasn't pleased with the mention of that name either. The child wriggled and made a muted sound of alarm at the mention, knowing something that one so tender should not. Avedis. Victor didn't fully understand it yet - but he knew to fear that name.
Josie didn't show such reaction though. She nodded and reached out to brush the infant's hair, making soothing sounds. "I have. He....was not pleased with my enthusiasm over Victor. I suppose it didn't go as well as it could have - especially after he...informed...me that you apparently don't have a right to exist." She turned to Aure. "I don't believe that."

Rosalie sighed a little, feeling a tiny bit tired. What she wanted right now was her medicine, but since Fres was away she couldn't get it. At least she could sit with little Victor and listen to the adults talk... Her smile came back a little.
"Hmph. We wouldn't exist if we didn't have a right to. His entire philosophy is undermined by faulty logic." Aure breathed out in a slow hiss, crossing her arms and glaring at nothing.

"Indeed. But he seemed to listen once I tried to reason with him...though, he looked like he was in pain." The incident HAD left the girl wondering about that particular reaction. Why had he listened to her? He could have easily knocked Ean asside and seized Victor but had instead turned the tide from calm to obediant rage - obediance at all being what she was curious of. "Does he always behave so?"
His mother's ministrations and Rosie's touch had succeeded in calming him. Victor nestled back into a comfortable spot and closed his eyes, forgetting the talk of Avedis and the moment now gone.

"Hell if I know," she snapped. "When I met up with him, he kicked my-" she looked down at the children "-he defeated me comprehensively. I still have bruises-- that-- Even dissolving him didn't stop him." Aurelius clenched her teeth together. How unbearable was it to be defeated by a man of all things? Highly.
Rosalie giggled, touching Victor's soft hair again. "So pretty," she sighed happily. "I wish I had a brother as cute as you."

Josie looked at Aure, concerned. "Are you alright? I'm sorry to hear that he hurt you so..." Instinct had already brought her hand down to where she kept her stethoscope tucked away. "Would you like me to have a look?"
The tiny hand of the child reached up and pawed at Rosie's, clearly pleased with her stroking his hair.

She flinched away almost immediately. "I'm quite alright. They're only bruises, and I've had worse." Almost as if she wasn't thinking of it, Aurelius brushed her bangs over the scar on her forehead and tugged the hem of her white hoodie over the scar that covered a good half of her hip. The abrupt motion stirred Rosalie, who squeaked and shifted more towards Josie.
The girl was careful not to jar the baby, though, and happily continued to play with his hair. "They're snappish," she whispered, words meant for his ears only.

Josie nonchalantly wrapped her arm around the children as she observed the girl's odd behavior. Than again, she realized her offer had partially caused it so she was careful in answering. "I'm glad to hear you're alright. Avedis is rather frightening, so I was worried you might be more seriously injured. That's all."
A soft sort of sound met Rosie's ears as she continued to run her fingers through the dark, silken strands. He liked that! That felt gooooood and he wanted her to continue. In his naive take on it, the child associated the sound and movement of his hand with the desired effect and thus continued to reach up at her and churr in infantile delight.

Aure's brilliant green eyes were dark with distrust now; one hand was poised to push her up with decent momentum to get away, should she have to. Out of fight or flight, it seemed that the teen chose flight... rather wise, considering how her recent physical encounters had gone. However, though she looked like some kind of cornered wildcat, she still didn't leave. "Right," she said. Her tone made it clear she didn't believe a word from Josie's mouth. Still, she didn't move.
The apprentice's gesture comforted Rosalie more than she could express with words; she leant against the older woman. Josie reminded her of Fres- her guardian. She didn't know why, but she just did. With a contented smile, she continued to groom Victor's hair.

It was clear that the conversation was not going well. Josie scooched herself a little to get comfortable before she noticed that some one had scooched into her. She looked down at the girl and smiled. "Well, hello there. You've been doing a good job at keeping Victor company, haven't you?"
