Antony hesitated, cocking his head slightly as he thought about it. "Well..." he said slowly. "He leaves the toilet seat up all the time, and he reads magazines that are dirty, and he likes cartoons better than BBC, and--" he said, listing all his father's faults.
"But I think I do like him," he decided. "He's always there for me."

"I'll hold the bucket," Antony decided as they started to get ready. "Less likely to get spilled on that way," he admitted.

Ignacio smiled brightly at his friend, unphased. "I thought so," he laughed. Then he crouched behind the tray and settled both hands on it, clamping down on either side. "That's why I wore this stuff. I don't care if it gets wrecked."

"These are my father's clothes," Antony admitted. He had poured something into the paint to make it smell better when Shade had opened it earlier. "And there's special soap in the bathroom to get the paint off, as well as a scrubber."
Obviously he was OCD.

A wicked little grin, one that very few would ever see, crossed Antony's face. "It would almost be worth it," he admitted. "But I would go mad long before Uncle Jack or Father would."
It was a sad truth.

"You would?" Experimentally, Ignacio dipped his brush into the paint and held it out towards his friend. "So basically you don't want me gettin' this all over you, right?"

Antony's eyes widened and he scooted back, almost forgetting to put the paint bucket down first. "You wouldn't!"

Ignacio set the brush down, laughing until he flopped onto the ground. "Well, -no- but you should've seen the look on your face!"

Antony gave him a dirty look that showed his disgruntlement. "You are evil," he said as he rolled his roller in the paint and went to work on the nearest wall.
"I'll be scrubbing for months," he admitted as he realized there was already a speck of paint on his hand.

"Why? A good washing'll get it out. You said you have soap and all." Ignacio loaded up his brush and set to work around the window frame, carefully following the tape and avoiding getting the paint on the actual woodwork. "And it'll be a good mess, anyway. It's your own room, Antony."

"That's still hard to believe," Antony admitted. "I can put my books on a shelf over there, and have an entire closet to myself."
It was worth the scrubbing he decided. "I hope you like take-out, though, neither Father or Jack and cook worth beans."

"Take out's fine." Ignacio already sported a streak of blue along one cheekbone. "Dad can't cook either. Tess sometimes makes things and sends them home with him. She's cool. I wish she'd hang out with DAd and me more."
