"No you didn't; You 'blah blah blah'ed me!" he seemed almost amused by the notion, "I taught you well," turning to Sekhmet, he smirked, "Who'd you think taught her that?" indeed, when the god was talking about flashes of lightning and spooky 'boooo'ing, he was actually being extremely serious; the fact it'd been taken as a joke only made the smirk grow all the more, his protruding teeth making it almost sinister, even if it did lack malice. Sadly, due to the fact there were few lions around and about, it meant there were few creatures Ushaufu could interact with; out of those few, there was some that he knew were strictly out of bounds for him to play tricks on. Due to not knowing which lions he could, or could not toy around with yet, it forced the god to get his kicks out of somewhere else; that meant the poor strangers that happened upon the pride territory by accident, or on purpose.

Needless to say the god went all out on his tricks when the time came for them; it wasn't like he had anyone better to toy with, after all. The mention of Maji forced one of Ushaufu's brows up, his red gaze watching his mate as she stiffened visibly, her jaw muscles twitching at the mere name. It was no secret to Ushaufu that Kizuka did not favour Maji. Specially not over Masika, however Deception himself had yet to meet this 'fine chap' of a lion to decide for himself. Something told him that there was simply no way the king could be able to match the queen's wits though; what little interaction he'd had with Masika had been a breeze of cool, fresh air for the god. Not only was she sharp and fast, but she possessed something he'd not seen in royalty a lot; she possessed street-smarts, per say.

Not to mention, that aside his mate, Masika was the only one that knew exactly whom, and what he was. Upon the realisation she'd not freaked, or even ran for the hills; in fact, she proved to Ushaufu that in time of need, she was someone he'd gladly turn his head towards, "I'm polite enough!" he faked an offended look before he hmphed loudly and tossed his head up in the air; he pulled he stunt off with such fluidity that it was clear he'd long ago used this same air of superiority for real towards others, "At least /I/ do some hunting despite being male, unlike others. Not the king of the bloody rock, now am I? Despite .... certain ironies of life," after all, he was a god. Which meant he did not NEED food. Not only that, but in a scale of power, he would've been visibly over the royalty. Except he chose not to; out of respect, not only to his mate, but towards the queen which had gained his trust and loyalty.

As his mate made mention of the Storm king, his eyes focused on the sky up above; what little he could see through the canopy, "Of course he can," unlike Kizuka, he spoke in a present tense, as if there was no doubt about this, "He'll come back. It's a matter of time; there's life still here. More so than before," he seemed to pause for a moment, serious as he lowered his head back to normal level, "There's water, too. Just a bit. It's like the blood that flows through our veins; it flows through this place. You can almost hear it pumping if you listen careful," he smirked then, "It'll come. It always does..." it was true that he harbored ill feelings towards the thought of the smaller lioness being so devoted to another god, and yet, at the same time, he'd come to pinpoint the feelings as complete and utter jealousy. Despite the fact the great, green monster (how ironic) was always swift to rear it's big, ugly head, Ushaufu had long since noticed that the devotion Kizuka held for the Storm King was different than that which she held towards him.

"Meanwhile, I can do the lightning summoning," he seemed to stop, almost as if willing to add to the phrase, but hesitated as he looked at Sekhmet, "It's really amusing though; their faces as they flee," he smirked, "Some leave thinking this place is haunted, which I find to be extremely hilarious. You ain't seen nothing till you watch a large, bulky, monster of a male lion, dashin' through the jungle, screamin' like a girl about ghosts and monsters and haunted trees, running for the metaphorical hills."

"Well some of us come with our claws ready sharpened." Sekhmet chuckled at Ushaufu's joke about teaching his mate. Somewhat in spite of the massive mossy lions gargoyle-esque appearance she found something about his behavior that she enjoyed, if perhaps in part because she didn't think the stiff laced Maji was likely to appreciate it at all, and more than at one point he'd likely appreciated her own antics and demands. Masika had, in her eyes, been queen since the moment she'd seen her on their lands. There had just been some unspoken quality about her that had inspired Sekhmet, then a cub. An unbroken spirit and pride she still dreamed of emulating.
"I wish the rest of us had your certainty. Before I went looking for my father, many of us were wondering if perhaps we were to blame for the disapearnase and drought, but I'll be damned if I know anything we've done to cause it. Not My uncle or father, or Masika anyway...."
"You seem very familiar with the subject of Gods. Do you think he'd be angry that...some of us aren't pure mistweaver blood? If thats it I think it's a -horrible- reason for a drought. There's so few left....And some of the ones that are left...."
She bristled for a second, lips twitching over sharp teeth. "NEvermind. But I -want- to see you make some bullish arogant outlander scream sometime. Storm god take it, I'd catch you a few of those damn waterbucks by -myself- if I thought I could name someone for you to make scream. But selfish fantasys aside...may I ask how you joined us?"

"No. 'pure' Mistweaver blood has always been a little thin, even in my memory," Kizuka replied after some thought. Indeed, she was probably right. Few Mistweavers of the so called "pure" lines remained, and if they refused to breed outside those ranks they'd soon be far too inbred to do much of anything. She said as much, "After all, I'd rather not take a cousin or brother as mate, had 'pure' blood been required in such."

Her ear twitched behind her, towards her mate. No, she couldn't imagine, now, another that she would have been as happy with. Even Triv she'd had issues with; He'd been too passive towards her, too inclined to take her commands without question. Indeed, she'd probably bullied and bitched him into such submission over a lifetime on the run together, but he'd always seemed the type to roll over and show his belly to her without much fuss. Ushaufu wasn't like that. The two of them fought as much as they joked around like this, and to Kizuka's mind that was, well, healthy. If he thought she was being stupid he would say as much, just as she would to him; if they didn't agree, they would bicker out a compromise. In their relationship there was no "dominant" and no "submissive," but instead equal partners in everything.

No, she couldn't imagine life without him any longer.

"I doubt he's angry over something such as that--after all, the drought started long before half-blooded children had such a population boom. Well.. in comparison anyway; there arn't many half-bloods OR full bloods around here anymore. Either way, I doubt we'll know until he returns." Oh, she had other theories, no few of which required the Queen on the throne, but those weren't things to voice to the populace, especially in a place where those of undecided minds might hear. She'd long since learned to watch what she said, and though she rarely lied, tactful omissions weren't above her.

Kizuka gave a laughing snort at the thought of the outlanders her mate had sent running. It really was an amusing sight, if somewhat... bullyish. Not that she minded; she'd have probably taken a more violent approach to some of the more pig-headed ones. Rather than answering the question herself, she left it up to her mate and lowered her head to rest upon her paws.

"Sharpened claws, hmmm?" the god smirked, his previous annoyance forgotten, even despite the fact his pelt still clearly showed the mess he'd made of himself in his hunting trip, "Do remind me never to mess with you then," it was true that perhaps the king of the pride would not appreciate Ushaufu's unique.... view on life, however, tell truth? The god could not care less. In fact, he truthfully (and ironically) could not care less what others thought of him. No one's opinion really mattered except that of his mate and his adoptive daughter; there were a few lioness within the pride itself he was liking however, and he had no doubt that in due time, he'd find himself attached to them to some extent too (not nearly as large as an extent as his 'two girls', but alas).

He had little doubt he'd defend the pride's honor with his life and blood; he was bonded to this place, like it or not, and there was little he could do to change it. Not that he wanted to. Not really.

"Nah," wrinkling his nose at the notion, the god dismissed it, "He, the storm king... probably had... rather, has something in mind. I can not really see a god of storm and rain as being all that cruel, or superficial, really," tsking his tongue over his overgrown fangs, he shock his head from side to side, "There's few gods THAT cruel. Maybe it wasn't even his fault; like the plague. You never know. Someone, or something might be keeping him from the place," he seemed to grow quiet before leering his mate, "No need to be negative, now is there? Ain't all doom and gloom. I know what I'm talking 'bout after all."

"You seem very familiar with the subject of Gods."

There was a second's pause and then Ushaufu laughed; it was a throaty laughter, sharp, however good natured before the god raised a paw to waggle a finger at the dark female, winking an eyes, "Well, that'd be 'cause I'm .... acquaintanced with one; know him quite well you know. Charming fellow," he smirked, not really caring if she'd take it as a joke, or take him seriously before continuing, "Nah, pure blood ain't something that seems all that important to me; if the blood is too pure, the pride grows weak. You need outsider blood to filter in and make it strong. Otherwise you'll be mating within family, and the children would end up deformed an' all. Doubt that's the cause," pondering, he lowered his paw again, keeping Kizuka's lithe body almost caged between them and his chest, "That's hardly the reason."

Another chuckle followed, this one darker as his eyes flashed, "Stick around; you'll see plenty runnin' if my senses tell me right. There's always rogues, and we can't afford to have them thinning our few supplies," somehow, Sekhmet's following statement amused him; it was after those few words at Deception decided he really liked this girl. If the pride was formed by characters such as this gal and Masika, he'd fit in perfectly, "Naughty, naughty girl.... I can almost read your thoughts. I'd happily make anyone scream, but something tells me that the voice if reason here'd be all against it. Not to mention it'd be kinda annoying to be kicked all out of the bloody pride for a few laughs after all the trouble we went through," he looked down at Kizuka, arching a brow, "Not like it wouldn't be damn amusing and worth it though... depending on whom it was doin' the whole runnin' and screamin'..."

Shaking his head as if to clear his thoughts, he turned to lick the top of his mate's head, nuzzling behind her ear before peeking a glance at Sek, "It's her 'fault', really. Everything bloody well is. I'd not be here if it weren't for Kizuka. I joined because of her, and the queen gave 'er blessing. Said we'd have to check with the pride members, but... if they're anything like you, I don't see the trouble."

"Do remind me never to mess with you then. This statement, even though she rather suspected it was more than half in jest, given the difference in their size. Still, it was balm to ruffled pride to be considered even a little dangerous, and she twitched her whiskers contentedly, drawing up at the statement a little as they continued.
"You know a -god-?" She demanded curiously, head tipped at this seemingly outrageous claim, but then, she had no idea she was talking to one. "I guess I'll have to take your word for it." She laughed, trying to picture this towering male conversing with something that seemed so alien. What would -gods- really have to do with them on such an intimate level anyway? Sure there were -stories-.... but wasn't that just a way to explain why some lions seemed to have unexpected... 'gifts'?.
She added a snort though at the mention of the 'voice of reason'. "If he had a problem hearing MOSES scream, then I'd lay into him myself." She snapped, bold with anger, her claws jutting out breifly with the exposed flash of rage. "He should know what it means to me..... But I promised my father I'd stay here and not go looking for him on my own." He was probably right in doing so, she had to angrily admit. Much as she might try, he was still a male, so still physicly larger than her. And who knew what sort of alies he might have.
She changed the topic again with an angry huff, burrying her anger at 'Moses' again as best as she could. "...Anyway. I say you have my blessing. Especially if the Queen gives it. I have faith in her, lightning or not. If She says you have her blessing, I'll take her at her word."

Kizuka refused to laugh as Ushaufu explained about 'knowing' a god. It didn't help that Sehkmet's unwittingly hilarious question followed after it, the disbelief in her voice quite evident. Kizuka kept her lips tightly shut, though a slight snort of laughter did escape. In an effort to preserved both her and her mate's dignity, as well as his disguise, she turned her head and stuffed her paw in her mouth.

A few moments of teary eyed giggles and the moment passed, leaving Kizuka shaking her head and shaking her paw from where she'd bit it. She hadn't drawn blood, for it was her own paw she had been biting, but it still hurt somewhat. Now, Kizuka hadn't a clue who Moses was, or who the "him" Sehkmet was talking about was. Indeed, that entire part of the conversation was lost on her, which was made obvious by the raised brow and confused glance at her mate.

That didn't matter, though. Sehkmet would choose to elaborate if she decided to. Instead, Kizuka offered her a grin for the last comment out of the girl's mouth. "Our queen may not call the lightning, but I would say she makes up for it with presence alone. Aye, i'm glad your faith rings true, as well, for I would say that she deserves it--and that's no little inclined for the fact that she accepts my mate and daughter with little question." Kizuka chuckled at that. There wasn't a reason to question Kimaji, really, that girl was as innocent and bright as a starry sky. Ushaufu, on the other hand.... Well, Kizuka hadn't thought it'd be so easy for Masika to accept him as it had been. Of course, it could be likely that her mind had strayed to what Sehkmet's had: if they fathered a litter or two together in the future, it was entirely possible that they may yet get larger, stronger mistweavers from it. Though she'd never considered such, the strange idea at once made her somehow proud as it caused the heat to rise in her face.

He smirked.

He couldn't help it.

Really he couldn't; it was all he could do to keep himself from chuckling as his mate turned around and pressed her head to his side. To anyone watching, this sole movement could have been seen as a nuzzle, however, Ushaufu knew better; as he looked over his shoulder and down at her, he was just in time to see her stuff her paw into her mouth. The vision was hilarious as was Sekmet's reply, and thus, he smirked.

He smirked in an effort to keep himself from laughing; had he not been as well trained in Deception as he was, the god would have been in a tight spot. As it was, however and (thankfuly) to the fact he belived no one could bullshit The Bullshitter, the male turned his attention back upon the dark pelted lioness, "Yes," he replied smugly, "Yes, I do know a God, my dear," he, in fact, knew several gods, but that was a moot point right now, "You'd be surprised how many Gods walk around with Mortals. I was told, as a child, that some of these Gods NEED to be here on earth to do their job. Ever wonder why a flower, flowers, or wilts and dies... or why you can FEEL the wind blowing against your face... or WHY the clouds up above seem alive as they move and rumble... or WHY a storm seems to be angry, or calmer, or soothing... WHY it is they all seem to have a personality?" he smirked again, lifting a paw to point a claw at her, "Think about it."

Ushaufu had no idea whom Moses was, but he had half a mind to ask later. For now, he deemed it better to keep his god-damned mouth shut; something that had always been increasingly difficult, to say the least, yet he prided himself in the fact he was slowly (being the key word) learning not to do, in certain situations. Blinking down at his mate, he shrugged lightly, offering her a silent 'No idea' to her not-quite-voiced question of 'What the hell?'.

It was amusing to note how the two seemed to be able to comunicate even without words. Simple gestures were, more often than not, enough, "Well of course she accepted me; I mean, let's face it," the words were dripping sarcasm at this point; it was obvious the male too, had been surprised by the fact the Queen had not questioned him more than for a bare few seconds, amusingly enough, "I am quite a catch..." he trailed off as he arched a brow at his mate; though her pelt made it imposible for him to catch her blush, the fact she was pressed so firmly against him had made him notice her sudden raise in temperature, "Do you have a fever?" this said, he lowered his forehead awkwardly against hers, "You're hot," and he, amusingly enough, meant that in an extremely innocent way. He'd have faultered had he known the thoughts that had been crossing both lionesses minds at that moment.

Sekhmet couldn't help but laugh herself at Ushafu's last comments, although she'd been taken aback with the curious light with which he regarded things like the wilting of flowers, the rush of the wind. It was a strange and startling thought to think of something like that as being a close brush with a god.
"Well you're rather certain of yourself aren't you?" She chuckled. It did, at least, seem to have lifted her back from the towering rage she'd hinted at a moment ago, creature of high passions that she was.

"He always is," Kizuka drawled in her own sour way that was quite obviously amused. She felt no reason to mess with her mate's ego, no matter how over-inflated it could get, unless it was absolutely necessary. She brushed his face away gently, getting him out of hers and shook her head, "I'm fine, you big lumox."

Raising her head, the female nipped his chin affectionately, then turned her gaze back to Sekhmet. "When your father has recovered, and they have returned I should like to meet them. Old faces are.. well a sight for sore eyes, to quote older proverbs." Kizuka gave a slight chuckle, her tail thumping on the drying grass near her feet. She didn't feel like explaining her 'heat' to Ushaufu, and thus she ignored the question. She couldn't lie to him, nor was she inclined to, and what she had been thinking about was not something their relationship was at all ready for.

"As for Masika... if I see her I'll say that I've seen you and you're looking for her. The hunting is, as we've said, sparse.. she could be back at any time." T
he lioness shrugged, "Assuming you're not inclined to stay and wait for her yourself, that is; I know you have the other two to look after."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 21, 2007 5:21 am

"I don't have reason not to be," though there was a smirk upon his maw, it lasted only a few moments before he frowned. Something about Kizuka's voice had left him on edge; he didn't quite believe she was 'fine'. Then again, it might just be his paranoia speaking.

Regardless of what was, and what wasn't, the large male chose that moment to stand up, turning his head to n** slightly at his mate's ear, "I think it's high time we actually go fetch some food, Kizuka; my failure with the damned waterbuck means that we have no blasted dinner. And I've no idea where Kimaji is, so that means I need you to help me," pulling away from the small mistweaver, he turned his gaze towards Sekhmet, "If you want to, you can feel free to join us; hunts are always easier in groups anyhow. You could join in, if you don't feel tired... unless you rather wait for Masika," the invitation was posed in a way the other lioness could decline at any given moment without feeling ashamed, while at the same time... it'd offered the fact Ushaufu actually liked her enough to invite her to hunt with he and his mate.

He'd met few Mistweavers, but so far, he was rather proud of having picked this secluded piece of land to make his home in. Those few he'd met had won his respect; even his affection, "Regardless, if you rather wait here..." he nipped at his mate's ear again, "We should go; I totally need help. Diving in from above ain't working like it used to," this said, the god turned to offer both female a smirk that voiced the fact he did, in fact, know what he'd just said, before slinking off through the vegetation. No doubt towards the border, where he would wait his mate (and Sekhmet perhaps?) to join him for a hunt.

Sekhmet almost laughed in surprise at the larger lions offer. Although they were a pride, she couldn't really remember many occasions on which the mistweavers had gone hunting together. There had been so few of them at the time, she supposed. "I've rarely had that oportunity, but I'd like to be of help. How exactly are you going about these dives anyway?" She shook her head at Ushafu. "I used to try and climb trees all the time when I was younger, and I found it difficult then, and I was a lot smaller than you are. Of course I suppose it would certainly surprise the waterbuck. Sort of like an elephant dropping out of the sky would." She joked, standing up and flicking an ear in amusement.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 8:57 am

Kizuka snorted in amusement at all of that. It was liable the male either didn't know what he'd said, or he'd purposely confused the girl about that. She shook her head and climbed to her feet. After a bone-popping stretch and yawn, the female loped lightly off after him. Ever since he'd begun insisting he do the hunting (so that she could re-build her strength) she'd been missing it a little. Kizuka was, in the end, a huntress at heart and very proud of her abilities. Perhaps because of this, she seemed to perk up a little more as she walked off towards the hunting grounds with them.

"Well, group hunting is something we should do more of around here," she replied softly, "if you'd like to learn I'll teach you. My daughter should be on those lessons herself." That was the last Kizuka said, however, before melting into the jungle. Ushaufu knew she'd meet them at the Savannah, but her colouring was much more suitable camouflage than his was. The phantom of the mists was hunting again.
