I blame the dub for causing an influx of idiots who use honorifics and random Japanese.

"Hi, I'm Jin-sama."
"Shut up, your name's Mitchell and you're a pompous a** for using that honorific when referring to yourself."

and the s**t where naruto says believe it every five seconds is wrong to, thats equivalent to an accent and has no place in a translation.

While it doesn't exactly have a place, there is one problem with not using it; their wouldn't be anything to fill all of the space where he says 'Dattebayo' and his mouth would just move. They had to do SOMETHING. Too bad they did something dumb. lol

They had to overhaul the mouth movements to match English anyways, the only real problem would be moments where the other cast members mock him for saying it, and that can be dealt with in editing too.

Don't get me wrong, I hate naruto reguardless of the port quality (dub is the wrong term since all anime in every language is dubbed (dub is the action of putting voice to an animation)), but naruto is one of those that they just don't seem to have given a ******** about, though compared to Evangelion's port it's pretty good.

You don't like the English version of Eva? For the time of the re-dub, it was pretty good (although it could probably benefit from a new version, especially with the beginning of Rebuild).

What I don't understand is why they had to mangle Naruto's openings, especially the second one. I understand that it's expensive to license for all of the songs, but they obviously licensed "haruka kanata," so it makes no sense why they spliced up all the animation. Egh.

the english eva adult swim aired was total crap, the words matched the lips but that was about it, and I'm not even sure thats true. First off Misato's VA sounded to be younger than shinji, she's suposed to be about 150% his age, maybe more. Then the script they did was way off, and badly written, if you turned on the subtitles/closed captioning it said something totally different, and of much higher quality, probably taken off some fansub, corporate anime importing should just pay fansub groups for the translation, 90% of the time they're 100% better with the rare exception of shows like FLCL which had a very good port quality.

That particular dubbing is the original English version, which had a different, more literal subtitle track for the Japanese version (although the subtitles for "Cruel Angel's Thesis" were kind of off). The English dub is kind of old by now, so I believe it could do with an update of higher quality. (I believe that Misato's voice actress did Sailor Moon's voice in the DiC dub, but I'm not sure; that could be why you dislike the voice so much.)

You also have to remember that a lot of this stuff has to do with marketing. Viz, 4Kids, and FUNimation generally only care about getting the gist of the show across to whatever target audience they think it has, and since most Americans heavily dislike subtitles, the idea of subtitles to the original dub is secondary. But thanks to things like FLCL and Fullmetal Alchemist, we may start seeing a higher qaulity of re-dubs and releases over here--we can only hope.

Bleh, I don't like eva at all. That story makes me want to kick puppies. It has nothing to do with actor quality, or animation, it's just the story. Drives me up a wall. Things that take themselves too seriously like that are just no.

Wow. Soo many people don't like Naruto. The Japanese version is much better. Actually, I think people can stop saying they don't read enough if they just leave the Japanese and sub everything! Would be ten times better in my opinion. Just something about American Voice Actors... *Sigh*

naruto was pretty bad long before it came to america, but most of the hating is the fans fault. The problem was that they tried to base the anime off the manga, but that conversion is about 15 manga issues = 1 anime episode, needless to say they quickly ran out, but they couldn't just stop the show until there was enough manga to continue so they put in months and maybe even years of random, pointless, aimless, and often just plain stupid filler episodes.

Naruto may have been a good story but the anime was worse than shitty.
