When they finally arrived at the pet store, Sarria had to keep herself from almost squealing as she saw the little puppies and kittens...and fluffy bunnies and what not.

"Oh, Vin, look at that one!" she pointed at a little white fluff ball of a kitten that was curled up somewhere in the middle of the cage/pet shot cat holder thing to avoid getting poked at by the various children and adults that liked doing that sort of thing.

Soon, however, she fell silent as her eyes fixed on something. Something she decided she wanted the moment she saw the seemingly empty glass tererrium. ((I'm too lazy to see if I spelled that right =P.)) "Or that." She went to tap Vin on the shoulder and point to the leaves and bark behind the glass.

The woman at the counter smiled at everyone as they entered, "Is there someth..."

"Go...away..." Viktor sneered slowly and made a simple shoo motion with a flick of his wrist, looking disgusted that he had even had to speak to her. Even the little kittens seemed to cower away from within their things.

Xaga immediately got distracted by the plethora of small fuzzy animals, and she was gone in an eyeblink, idly brushing her fingers against a ferret who was busily trying to chew its way out of a metal cage.

Vin, on the other hand, followed behind Sarria, looking curiously around the girl's shoulder at whatever was in the tank. Ve couldn't........see anything. Was there even something in there?

"This one sees nothing," ve murmured softly, glancing sheepishly up at Sarria before fixing vis gaze back on the terrarium. Ve squinted, peering through the leaves, but ve still wasn't sure what ve was supposed to be looking for.

Ve felt rather than saw Viktor's disdain, and it made ver shiver slightly and glance back at Viktor. He didn't seem human, so different was he from the rest of the Breeders...

"Excuse this one's impertinence, but your guardian, he is...strong in will," ve began tentatively, in as close to a conversational tone as Vin would ever come.

Viktor waited until the poor unsuspecting clerk had retreated back behind the counter before he slunk off behind some shelves and cages.

"Huh?" Sarria gave Vin an odd look before catching on to what ve was asking, "Oh, um, sure? He's just actually...kind of not nice to people." Making sure Viktor wasn't nearby she continued, "He says we are better than most people." She had taken her voice down to a whisper and inched toward the terrarium and motioned for Vin to come closer as well, "Which I don't think is true. Right, Vin?"

Peering through the glass she bent down some so she was eye level with the bark, her eyes seemed to glaze over as she cocked her head off to the side, "Be very quiet, okay? And watch that corner."

She raised her voice just a bit, "Come out." Her tone was almost rather creepy, like something you wouldn't want to hear in some dark alley.

Now that......that was a question Vin could easily answer. Ve opened vis mouth to reply instantly, to inform Sarria that of course she was better than Vin, because everyone and everything was better than Vin, and if Viktor had that much sway over the rest of the Breeders, if he had that much power, then obviously he and Sarria, by association, if nothing else, were better than the rest of the Breeders. They couldn't exert such power if they weren't.

What ve actually got out as ve slunk closer to the glass was, "Well..." but then Sarria gave a command, albeit a polite one, and ve closed vis mouth and watched the corner Sarria indicated.

Sarria's voice startled ver, and ve glanced over to Sarria for a moment, intrigued by the tone. It was something that definitely had power, and it wasn't the same sort of power as Viktor's. It was something...different but strong.

Sarria and Viktor certainly were above typical mere mortals. If anything else happened, Vin would end up worshipping the pair of them.

A bit of bark moved from the corner, then in a quick flash of black and a metalic blue at a certain angle a rather good sized tarantula plastered itself to the glass, it's fangs moving as it hissed aggressively.

Rather than jump back, Sarria got an odd grin on her face and placed her hand against the glass, watching the spider try to, well, kill it through the glass. "A Cobalt Blue..." she read the tag above the cage, "What do you think of it?"

It continued to attack the glass while Sarria moved her face closer to the glass to examine its big black fangs and body, moving her head every once in a while to catch a glimpse of the blueish color.

"The tag says its aggressive and fast." She told Vin, as if it wasn't obvious enough already.

Vin squealed when the spider plastered itself to the front of the tank, jumping backwards and tripping over vis own feet. Ve collapsed noisily, falling onto vis back but quickly scrambling into a sort of alert crouch to keep an eye on the vicious arachnid.

"It is..." ve paused, frowing, and sought a more decorous way to phrase what ve was about to say. After all, ve didn't want to upset this powerful Breeder. "It certainly seems aggressive," ve ventured quietly after a little bit. Frankly, ve had never seen anything that scared ver more than that spider.

"Do you really want one?" ve asked quietly, looking at Sarria as if to assess her and her motives. Vin was reasonably good at that; ve had to be. Vis species was designed to serve, and if they could do it without needing to be asked, all the better. So Vin was good at judging people and desires.

"It's just...fangs," ve said eventually, pointing at the spider that was obviously trying to bite through the glass.

The look on her face said 'yes' as she nodded at Vin, "I do. Who wouldn't want him?" She scrunched her nose a moment before taking her hand away from the glass.

When she turned around and caught sight of Vin she almost giggled at how ve looked, though, it was Sarria who was insane for not being nervous around the evil spider of doom. "I love him!"

She looked around for Viktor, not seeing him she folded her arms, tapping her fingers on her arms for a few seconds before she spotted the already nervous pet store clerk girl who was walking over to them.

"I would like to, uh, buy this?" She pointed to the tank and smiled only to frown when the woman told her that wasn't a good idea. She went on about how 'it wasn't for beginners,' using words such as 'dangerous, fast, aggressive, tempermental' and phrases like 'oh look at the cute little kitties over there, you two!'

All of that was lost on Sarria, turning to Vin she completely ignored what the woman had just told her, "Come closer and look at him! Isn't he cute? Oh, ha, yeah his fangs are big! Do you want to touch the glass? You can pretend like you're petting him!"

Around that time Viktor had come out of hiding from the aisles and was standing just behind Vin, eyeing the evil little creature. "How much is it?" he suddenly asked, causing both Sarria and the pet store worker to jump from the unexpected voice behind them.

And so the two adults began to argue about whether or not Sarria could get the tarantula.

Vin watched silently, slinking back and trying to lose verself in the shelves when Sarria, and then Viktor, started arguing with the well-meaning clerk. Personally, ve was disposed to agree with the clerk, but it wasn't vis battle.

"What's up?"

The voice made Vin jump and whirl to face Xaga. She was smiling slightly, watching Viktor and Sarria bicker with the woman who was still trying to dissuade them from purchasing a vicious arachnid. Vin shrugged.

"Spider," ve answered vaguely. Xaga nodded and took vis elbow.

"C'mon, now," she said. "We have clothes shopping to do."

Vin grimaced and was about to say something more when Xaga jerked on vis arm and started off toward the exit. Vin tried to catch Sarria's eye and wave, but ve wasn't sure if ve was successful.

"Good luck with that, Viktor!" Xaga called mockingly. "See you around, perhaps!"

Vin sighed and followed meekly.
