Celestial Lullaby

Triandra heard a racket outside, well, not really a racket, more of a shuffle of feet sprinkled with deep chuckles. Tria figured she'd let the girl get nice and scared before telling the dogs to back down. Oddly, Tria had a high station with the darker side of the city. Known for never turning down a job, no matter how dirty, had earned her a reputation. At 14, this was something.

After a lengthy wait, Tria marched outside, slipping into a cat's grace, walking with all the weight of her body balanced on the balls of her feet, toes slipping between cobblestones. Her dagger slid from her sheath smoothly. Her eyes glinted obsidian. Tria slid in between the lady and the men harassing her, baring her dagger in front of her eyes. "She's mine," growled Tria through clenched teeth. Everything about her seemed hard.

There passed a few moments of silence as she stared down the leader. Everything was dead silent. A few men slid back to the shadows, not wanting to join in the sport if there was a child involved. Even lowlifes had principles.

Finally, the man shrugged. "Whatever you say twerp. Though I think we could have much more fun with the lady than a pint sized girl like you." Tria broke into a toothy grin, evil tainting the emotion. The man shivered and walked off. Most of the others followed. One hung back. Triandra sent him a glare that could peel even the most stubborn of paint. He stood stubbornly for a few seconds before his shoulders slumped and he walked off.

Triandra checked over her shoulder, once she was satisfied they had all left, she turned her dark gaze to the woman. "To come to crow alley alone, a woman, you must be brave, or very, very stupid." With that, Tria started off again, pulling up her dress so that she could replace her dagger in it's sheath on her thigh. She then proceeded to take herself down a long winding maze of alleys and paths to the cesspit.

"Gotcha!" Only a few more seconds of running led the 'cat and mice hunt' to an alley's dead end. Kino would place his left hand to his hip and state "Nowhere to run... so be a good girl and hand over my bag."

Taking only one step forward towards the girl result in her reaction to take out a dagger. "Huh?" The entire time he'd been paying attention to the bag, but a second look, would realize that she'd been scared beyond his expectations.

The girl held in one hand, Kino's bag, and in the other, an old dagger, shaking tremendously as tears streamed down her cheeks. Kino advanced forward, stopping in front of the frightened girl. As Kino's hand outstretched towards her, she'd dropped her dagger along with Kino's bag in an attempt to shield herself from what she thought would be, 'the beating of a lifetime'.

"It's alright..." He would calmly state before placing his left hand to lightly press against her cheek. She would wince at his touch at first through fear... but it only took her a moment to realize that he did not mean any harm, with that, she would simply look up at him in confusion.

Shifting his left hand from her cheek to pat the top of her head, he would pull away from her afterwards to pick up his bag. "You see... " Now holding the bag in his right hand, he would look at the girl with a gentle smile before continuing. "A special person gave this to me... or whats in it at least... and it means alot to me."

Turning to exit the alley, he would calmly say "Well... take ca-" Kino's sentence was cut off by the sound of rumbling.... "Huh?" He'd turn to face the girl, noticing she'd held one hand against her tummy while looking at the floor. Kino would chuckle lightly and comment teasingly, "My my thats quite a noisy tummy you have there." Lifting his hand to rest on the girls head, he would request. "Would you like to join me for something to eat?"

][ I hope you don't mind me taking up a second character, I just had this idea of introducing a girl from the Cesspit to the area of the Nobles... lol but if it's too much a problem I can change it][

((Sounds great to me, but alas not my roleplay lol sweatdrop ))

Ayra stood in shock for a few moments, her heart thudding loudly in her ears. She could have sworn she was in serious trouble, and then she'd been saved by a teenager. A teenager she happened to have been looking for all morning.

Shaking her head she ran after Triandra, trying to grab her shoulder or something.

"Wait! Please I just want to talk you!" she called. She was in pretty good shape considering all the walking she had to do to get to her paitents but she was still breathing quite hard compared to the girl.

"You had a bit of an encounter with Lord Varcus didn't you? I just want to help!" she called again, but her voice had a hint of disappointment. She was the same class as him but he still thought he was all high and mighty. She wanted to congradulate the girl who'd brought him down a peg and help her with any wounds she could (and probably did) have. After all, she was a doctor.

((I don't have any problem with it, as long as you can handle it. I have a friend that has WAY more than fifty characters, who am I to judge? So yes, go ahead.))

Triandra resisted the urge to jump up to a rooftop. She saw a line of crates and supplies that would make a perfect ladder. Any thief worst their salt could navigate the roofs as good or better than the streets of this town.

"Wait! Please I just want to talk you!" She heard from behind. Tria didn't even falter in her step. She had had her fun with the woman, and now they parted. That's how it went in the dishonest's culture. When she got to the part about healing her wounds, Tria looked at the bloody part of her foot, where it had been punctured by a sharp pebble.

She hadn't noticed it until now. Besides that she had the swollen lip and the bruise on her cheek. Doctors couldn't fix bruises, unless they had magic. Besides, Tria wasn't interested, they would be gone when night hit anyway. And if the Doctor-lady persisted, how would she go out to continue the game? Well, considering from her already perceived stubbornness, Tria would have to get rid of her in a different way than running.

She twirled, stopped the spin with her left foot, whipped her hands up to her hips and glared at the doctor. Triandra went absolutely still, her gaze steady, and waited with all the patience beggars used to sit in one place for hours and hours. "Then talk."

Not 'too' long did Kino find himself in the high city, where nobles would reside, and not too long did the girl find herself in what she thought was 'heaven'.

Kino and the very young girl would now approach a resteraunt, and as Kino would enter the door, he would be greeted with the utmost respect, whereas the girl who'd followed after him would get a 'shoo', although Kino knew this would happen and simply explained she'd been with him.

Now both Prince and peasant sat at the same table.... odd site for everyone else eating in the same area no? Kino would chuckle lightly before asking the excited girl, "So what'll it be?" Kino had held the pamphlet in his hand, carefully reading the many varieties of food they'd made, but his attention soon came to the girl due to her lack of response.

"Hm?" Staring at the girl, he came down to realize.... she didn't know how to read. "I see... " He would lightly place his hand to give her one of his pats on her head before smiling. "I'll just get you what I always get then." This time, his pats to her head no longer filled her with fear, or nervousness, instead, a hint of excitement.

The waiter would soon arrive, and as he would request their order. Kino's eyes sparkled as he would challantly respond in a yell while he raised one fist into the air, "Chicken!" The girl mimicing his movements with the exception of blurting the word 'chicken' so loudly.

Now that Ayra finally had the girl's attention she was a little unsure of what to say.
"I..urm...well..." she started softly, then trailed off. Trying to make some time before she had to think of something to say she bowed her head to the girl.
"What I meant to say is thankyou, from the sounds of it you took Lord Varcus off his high horse. He think's he's better then the rest of us," she explained in a sort of nervous rush. When she spoke people half expected her nose to twitch, just like the mouse she seemed to be.
"Are you hurt badly?" she asked softly, reaching out a hand to the girl in a sign of peace. She could clearly see the cut lip and bruising, but she needed to know if there was any other wounds.

Triandra shrugged, her malnutrition accounting for her skinny, bony arms. Her dark, unwashed hair was so dirty it would be impossible to devine the original color. Her eyes were like pitch. Dirt was so well rubbed into her skin, it seemed as if the blacker spots were part of her skin tone. The rags she wore were threadbare. They might have once been white, but it was impossible to tell now. They had been worn for years on end, the seams were loose and there were holes everywhere. As clothing for Cesspit children went, it was rather good.

"I don't much care about how tall his horse is," replied Tria, "I need to eat is all." Tria pondered about accepting this woman's olive branch. She felt rather accommodating today. But that was no reason to accept unneeded medical attention. Her power as a watcher was to meld with the shadows. It only activated during the night, but melding with shadows means taking them into yourself, which therefore could heal her.

"Go use your supplies on someone who can pay you. Medical stuff is real expensive on the black market." Tria hoped the woman wouldn't question her knowledge. It wasn't the type of things that an honest child knew. Although, considering the lady knew she had stolen Varcus' purse, it was pretty obvious that she wouldn't turn Triandra in.

She felt a tad indebted to the woman, so she decided she would help her, if only minimally. "Lady, where would you like to go?" Tria had a feeling she had been going somewhere at the time of her interruption, and it was best if she was left there. Ellyian could get quite confusing.

[[Sorry I haven't posted. I haven't had the time.]]

Lailia thrust the curtains open, letting the sunlight stream into her room. The light fell upon musty bookcases, shelves with strange bottles on them, an elegant purple bed with a canopy, and a broom propped up in the corner of the room, obsidian black and so fine that it couldn't be mistaken for a regular household broom. She walked past the broom and to the door, where her wooden staff was propped, her floppy witch's hat on top of it. She stuck it on her head and looked in the mirror.

She brushed a few silver strands out of her face as she gazed at her reflection with her electric blue eyes. She wore a short ruffled black skirt with a navy layer underneath, and an even longer black underneath that. Her shirt revealed her stomach, and there was a black collar attached to it with straps.

Lailia picked up her staff and left her room, walked down the hallway, down a flight of stairs, and out into the castle grounds. She looked up at the two waterfalls, creating a double rainbow in the sky. She smiled.

Mummuring was heard throughout the resteraunt as the both noble and peasant ate at the same table, even eating the same food... chicken... "U-um...." Kino's eyes was just as surprised as the other nobles who would dine in the same room, although his was a sort of facinated surprise rather than a shocked one.

The hungry girl would more than prove herself to be the hungriest of every living being within the room. "Y-you should probably slow down ya'know, it's not good for health to eat so quickly." He'd outstretch his hand towards the quick-paced child only to be responded with a growl. Kino quickly pulled his hand back in defense, "I get it, I get it."

A light smile etched its way to Kino's face as he comment calmly. "You sure are interesting... hm?" Kino would begin to take a look around him to realize that he'd been carefully eye'd by everyone in the room, but even more, the girl had even more pairs of eyes staring at her. In their eyes, peasants didn't belong here.

Sigh.... The young prince would place his elbow on the table, resting his chin on the palm of his right hand to use his right arm as a pillar to rest his head. Slowly and carefully eyeing the viewers who'd soo rudely been eyeing them, he would mumble to himself silently. "Seems they are all the same.... "

Taking a deep breath, Tristan stood up to his full height, finally having caught his breath. The air surrounding the castle had helped in him regaining his composure. This air seemed cleaner, and more innocent than any air he had ever breathed. Though, not understanding why, Tristan did enjoy comparing breathing necessitities, he had to find this guy he was to interview. Hopefully, the mystery man wasn't waiting for too long.

Of course, this mystery man did have a name, but not a face, so Tristan set out searching for him. The best person to ask when looking for another person is the palace guard, Tristan hoped.

Walking up to one of the palace guards, Tristan asked if a man named Ojama was around. He gave the guard his best smile, but the guard laughed at him.

"I suggest you turn around, right now, before I'm forced to arrest you," the guard said, after a moment of laugh time.

Tristan's face turned red at the laughing at him. He pulled open his bag, grabbed a letter in which the Ojama man had sent him, and thrusted it at the guard, who in turn stopped laughing, grabbed the paper, and read. After a moment, the guard tossed the letter aside, and shook his head.

"You have to let me in!" Tristan begged. "That man is expecitng me! I was supposed to be here half an hour ago, and if I'm any more late, I'll lose my chance. Don't you know who I am?"

The guard seemed unfazed by Tristan's attempts to get through. He shook his head. "I'm afraid I don't, and I don't care, frankly. There is no man here by the name of Ojama. So turn around, and go back the way you came."

Angered, Tristan threw down his bag, and pointed a shaky finger at the guard's nose. "Now look here, my good man. I'm a reporter, the name is Tristan Amores! Now you let me in, or I shall have to get physical with you." As to make his point heard, he pulled his two hands into fists, and held them up. It looked as if a comedy was being performed for any of the passers-by who bothered to look; a tiny, skinny man challenging a strong, muscular guard to a fight may seem pretty comediac to the common eye.

Tristan was going to get his interview if it killed him, and by the looks of it, it was going to kill him.

Ayra was a little taken aback, the girl was so forward and said exactly what was on her mind. Silently wishing she could be more like that Ayra smiled gently.
"Well, I only have one appointment today, its in the east district." she replied, her voice soft. The east district was one in the commoner section of the city, they weren't the poorest people in the city, but they certainly were not rich either.
"But, if you wouldn't mind I'd like to help you first." she added, her voice taking on a firmness that suprised even herself. Just from looking at the girl she could see she'd had a rough life and desperatly wanted to help. After all she had saved her from the thugs earlier.
"If you don't want me to give you medical attention because you don't trust me you don't have to worry, I know exactly what i'm doing,"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:53 pm

Triandra couldn't help but let a small smile force it's way across her mouth, even though the corners of her lips were turned down in amusement. She looked the taller woman up and down and shook her head before heading off towards the east district, taking all the shortcuts. After a while, she spoke up. "You're an idiot, you know? You follow a street kid into Crow Alley-- one who obviously knows what she's doing-- Just to see if the few bruises she has needs treating.

"Plus, you get into a circle of men who used to skin cats alive when they were small," Tria conveniently left out the part that she had actually watched them grow up, and torture the animals, "And get rescued by the same girl who led you into the wolves, just for kicks. Then you offer to help the same little kid even though she obviously thinks you're an idiot. And when she offers to get you out of Crow alley so you don't get raped, you refuse, instead preferring to help her with scrapes she's had to deal with her whole life.

"Sure says a lot about your character." Grinning, in condescension or amusement (impossible to tell), Triandra continued to lead the woman through the dirty alleys, still so inconsiderate as to not ask her name.

Ayra stopped smiling, and simply followed Triandra silently for a few moments. She knew she was an idiot when it came to anything that wasn't medical but that was just how she was. She learned quickly in life that if you didn't have anything useful to say it was best to keep your mouth shut. What annoyed her most though was that the girl didn't seem to understand why she was being the idiot she was. Very slowly, and in almost a whisper she replied,
"I'm an idiot because i'm a good person, you don't seem to understand that human beings are always doing stupid things in their lives for the sake of good. Now that say's a lot about your character," she half smiled again as she finished speaking, it was merely a ghost of the ones from before but it was still a smile.

[[Sorry! I have so much school work I haven't been on.]]

Lailia turned around, hearing someone shout. Her gaze fell upon a palace guard, and a young man who was about to be beaten into a pulp. She bit her lip. If she helped him, she might be further unbalancing the scales... But no. This fight was unfair.

The young witch quickly walked towards the two. She stood up straight and flipped her hair back, giving her the impression of one impartial. "What's going on here?" she asked the guard. Her eyes switched over to the blonde haired young man. What are you doing here?

Tristan began bouncing on his feet, like he's seen so many professional fighters do. He hadn't the slightest clue why they did this, but he wanted the guard to think he was a professional, seeing as how the guard didn't acknowledge that Tristan was ready to fight. In fact, the guard raised an eyebrow the moment Tristan began to bounce, and the younger of the two could tell he was scaring his opponent.

Tristan lowered his fists almost the instant the young lady appeared. When her attention was towards the guard, he took this quick moment to ruffle his hair and regain his composure.

The guard bowed to her. "Lady Lailia, this man requests an audience with a man named Ojama, but there is no Ojama anywhere near here."

When she turned toward Tristan, he smiled at her, and also bowed, being the ladies man he was. Well, in his eyes he was a ladies man, but the truth was he hasn't charmed a lady since he was seventeen. "That is a blantant lie, my lady. I have a letter as proof." He picked up his bag and dug through it, having forgotten that he had given the letter to the guard, who had tossed it aside, and was now lost in the wind. "Well, it's in here somewhere..."
