-Dunsinare

"But there must be no favouritism amongst my darlings. So let's see then who else is new for tonight?"

She turned from the screen of Willhelm to browse through her paperwork for the day. Here was one Dunsinare, a half-demon with troubled memories hidden deep within his soul.

"Let's see if we can't make you remember something after all. I seem to remember creating a useful scenario for these cases some months ago."

She started browsing through her many programs.

"Ah! Here we are!"

A bookshelf stood next to him, on each side of him in fact. Once Dunsinare lifted his eyes he would see that the shelfs stretched endlessly in both directions. No ceiling was in sight and the feeling of space was crushing with nothing but bookshelfs as far as the eye could see.

If he studied the books more closely he would see that they all had names, perhaps names he recognised. If he happened to open the book of a friend, or indeed any book, he would see that within it was a detailed description of the persons life, every action every step, every detail carefully written down. Depending on how long that life was it might stretch over the course of several books. If he opened a book whose owner had not yet died he would find the book in the process of writing itself as that life was being lived.

Time had taught the good doctor that most people when faced with this situation would, in time, do one very particular thing. Find their own book.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 11:35 am

As he scrolled through the books, the names bagan to spark old memories. soon all he heard was screaming in his head. It was getting more and more unbearable as the list of names grew. One though kept going through his mind, Did anyone survive other than me? he scrambled through the books hoping to find one which read past his terrible misteak, but every thick book he read stopped at his experiment gone wrong.

Hm? What is this? After reading a book of a female scientist there by the name of Felis Numan, he saw a very skinny book right beside it. as he pulled it out he noticed that the book was very fragile and only had three pages, the book had only one word for a title, Numan.

"Dear god!" though ironic for him to say that, his nightmare worsened as he read the book, this was a book of a three month old fetus. this child wasnt even born. and was in the womb of a woman he had loved. On the first page, it gave the gender of the child, male, and who the biological parents, Felis Numan and Dunsinare Ghillian. He broke down, dropping the book on the floor and falling to his knees, and cried. Every tear burned down his cheek at the pain of losing both the love of his former life, and his own son.
((I'm so sorry that this took forever. I wasn't able to find this RP afterwards.))

"Right and while we wait for you let's get the rest of the party started."

She started turning on more screens, her workspace filling up with images, text, programs, orders.

"Shadow Dragon? Hmm new is he, well let's try and learn something of his character."

When Shadow Dragon opened his eyes he would find himself on a busy street. People walking shouting, bumping into each other, selling hot potatoes, trinkets, religions, shoe-polish etc. On the main street the carts and horses were running past very fast indeed. Anyone who had to cross the road ran so as not to get trampled in the meddley. A conversation takes place close to him between a young girl and what appears to be her nanny. The girl had apparently been caught talking to a young man and was now being beaten up severly for it. From the rest of the conversation it becomes obvious that the nanny is making the young girls life a misery in more ways than one.

"This will mean no table-scraps for supper you know! and lord only knows what your father will have to say about this. And stop snivelling!"

The nanny gives her young pupil a final smack over the head with her cane and leaves the girl in a carriage. She then starts to cross the road for some unknown reason. Halfway across the road she stumbles and falls over a bump in the road. At the same moment a cart with no driver but with four terrified horses comes around the corner, they will surely crush the nanny.

This was interesting. Would he act to save this witch, or would he leave her to fate? Humans are so fascinating the doctor thought to herself as she added the final details to her little scenario and uploaded them to her test subjects mind.

"Kumii Okame? A seeker oh haven't seen one of those in a while. Hmm but for fun's sake let's see if we can't scare her a bit."

Perfectly trimmed green grass stretched before her. In her hands was a club, a golf club to be precise. Around the perimenter of the grass was a rather large crowd of people as well as cameras and journalists all watching her intensely. A little white ball lay next to her feet, the hole was only 15m away. The commentators voice could be heard,

"Kumii Okame here, a new and upcoming youngster who has challenged the world's best. So far people have been divided as to what to think of her either shrugging her off as an upstart or believing in her with a rather creepy form of devotion. It all comes down to this shot, the race has been neck to neck so far but if she gets this one it'll be a birdie for sure and everyone will be forced to aknowledge her talent. If she misses her debuting golf career is over for sure. So let's see how she does."

The doctor smiled. She loved sports, they were almost like games. The doctor loved games.

Shadow is surprised a moment after steping into the machine, or so it seemed to be a moment. It actually was a few minutes, but he could not tell. He was surprised because he materialized into a normally dangerous location, the middle of a busy street.

As he stood in the street, he heard a girl wimpering as an elderly woman yelled at her. He causiously observed the situation, so as to not get hurt and dodged the carrages without much attention.

"This will mean no table-scraps for supper you know! and lord only knows what your father will have to say about this. And stop snivelling!"

Man, i really hate it when anyone mistreats women, or disrespects them

After the lady was done yelling at this cute young woman, she turned around. In that moment Shadow anylized a new situation that was about to occure. The mean, grumpy, and senile old lady started into the street, as a carrage to his left was moving at an unusually high rate of speed.

Shes not paying attention, and those horses seem to be startled for some reason. If she not careful, she might get ran over.

Oh no, a bump, this is not the time for anyone to trip.

The lady trips and is most definately going to get trampled, and Shadow acts on impulse. He rushes forward, to block the old lady from the wild horses and the carrage. There are four horses tangled together with a carrage in tow. He acts reflexively, removes his shief from its belt and slams it into the lower legs of the horse closest to him and the lady.
The horse colapses, bringing the other four hourses and the carage with them. The lady stays on the ground, fearful of her life. He then continues by pulling his katana out of the shief and cuts the rope connecting the carage to the four horses at the same time raming his shoulder into it so it could harm no one further.

All of this happened so fast that its hard to picture what happened.
The old woman looks up at him and says, "Thank you kind sir, you saved my life. How can i ever repay you?"
He responds, "Cherish the time you have with those you love".

Then, just as suddenly as the scene around him appeared, it dissappeared.

"A hero, well they do seem to be the only ones who make it this far."

She had watched Shadow Dragons action with interest. He was obviously quick, strong, and noble. It annoyed the doctor immensely. She muttered to herself, sipped her hot tea and tried to think of some way or other to humiliate him but the inspirational juices were not flowing.

"Oh what the hell, let's just run you through a standard nightmare."

A feeling of space stretched around and before him. Out of the darkness two bright lights suddenly shone, hitting his eyes and blinding him. A hum of whispers and talking could be heard somewhere beyond the lights. He was on a large stage, all alone with a red rose in one hand and a spoon in the other. As the lights turned on the whispers stopped and one could almost feel every pair of eyes in the room turn to watch him.

As she hit upload she cursed as a thought struck her. She should have made him naked.

As soon as she opened her eyes, Kumii was assulted by flashing cameras. Her muscles tensed as her mind drew up the worst senario.

'They've found me. They're gonna torture me...and then kill me. No! I can't die!'

Noticing that she held something long and thin in her hands, she raised it up and held it in front of her, as if she were about to ward off the 'attackers'. However, after blinking her eyes slowly, her vision cleared and she was met with the site of an extremely large crowd. Some held cameras, but most looked as if they were holding there breath, waiting for something to happen. That's when she actually noticed the thing she was holding.

'A golf club? B-But I don't play golf.' She stared at it intently for a second before glancing back at the crowd. They were still staring at her. Kumii gently set the club back on the grass and quickly surveyed the distance of the ball from the hole.

'I don't play golf.' she reminded herself. 'I don't know how to play, but I guess I'm supposed to hit the ball into the hole.'

The situation reminded her of practicing in the tennis courts. When she had been practicing her accuracy. This was just like that, except she was holding a club, not a racket.

Kumii let out a breath she had not realized she had been holding. Twisting her body, she smiled at the crowd and then sent them a thumbs-up. Returning back to her regular position, she held her breath and lightly hit the golf ball.

Both Kumii and the crowd tensely watched as the white ball, as if in slow-motion, rolled it's way towards the hole. Her heart pounded as she watched it slow even further. 'Come on....' The ball slowed to a stop right at the edge, but then unexpectedly pitched forward into the hole.

Again, a scene materialized before him, this time he couldnt see. Not because of darkness, but because of light. He put his left hand over his eyes to try and see what was infront of him. Normally he would have put his right hand up because he is right handed, but there was something in this hand.

This is strange. Where am I now. Am I still in that machine? This is just another dream to keep me semi concious while it works to heal me, or is it? Well, lets see how this turns out.

Where am I? There is wooden floor under my feet, but dont step forward, for it drops. I hear whispering, many voices? The lights? There is a rose in my hand. Am i on a stage? It adds up. I am on a stage. What play am i expected to do. What play do they think Im going to perform? Hmm, at least im not naked.

He appeared, and for 3 minutes just stood there. The audience is getting restless cause he had been standing there for about 5 minutes. The whispering gradually gets louder.

"Come on, what did you do, forget your lines?" Someone yelled from the audience.

"Actually, Im sorry, but i have forgotten my lines, can someone tell me what play I am to perform?" Shadow asked the audience. A clever way to move on with the stumbled start.

"Romeo and Juliet, you idiot!!" Someone else yells from the audience.

I see, is this supposed to scare me? I guess Im glad my masters had me learn a few plays, and how to read. Here goes.

But before he could start, the scene disolved into darkness. It was like it didnt want him to completely succeed.

-Kumii Okame

"Damn!"

The girl was athletic it appeared, and handled the stress very well. The doctor was impressed and annoyed at the same time. Well at least she had appeared somewhat startled and confused, that was always a plus.

"Let's try something out of the spotlight. I'm never sure who is more likely to cry and who is more likely to rip someone's head off with this one."

Something small, round, and wet hit the back of her head. As she looked up she saw a big blackboard and in her hand a small piece of white chalk. On the board was written, in beautiful cursive handwriting, the words "Homework chapter 8-9, do question 5 an...". A half-finished "d" stared at her. Behind her, the direction from which the small blob of paper had come, were 6 rows of children all laughing hysterically. One boy sort of in the back close to a window was grinning at her defiently and twirling a straw carelessly in his hands waiting to see what she would do.

She left Kumii's screen and turned back to Shadow Dragon to watch his actions. He handled the whole thing rather well she thought, she'd seen many a person brake down on stage.

"If only he'd been naked! I bet he would have sang a different tune then." she muttered as she cancelled the whole thing. Shakespeare was the last thing she wanted to hear right now.

"Well let's see if he's athletic as well as brave and in posession of nerves of steel."

The sound of wind and a sense of travelling very fast. He was on a horse that was running as though for its life. Around him were more horses, all running in the same direction, running past him. In the distance there was a crowd and bright lights. He was in a horse-race and if he didn't act fast he would loose.

Shadow appears in a new place. Another crowd, but no stage. This is much different.

Hmmm, another dream, this is an interesting machine.

There is wind rushing past his head. A horse is running underneath him, and there are more horses around with riders.

A race! Im too big for a horse race. Perhaps the reason Im not going too fast. I need to think of something fast, or ill loose. Winning isnt neccessarily important to me, but it seems that its what the machine is looking for, success. I could run faster than these horses, but it isnt that kind of race. Its a horse race.

He lowers his torso to be closer to the horse. He then tells the horse calmly, "I know you can run faster than this. Lets win this." He wasnt expecting the horse to understand his words directly, but maybe his will would help. He tapped the horse with the heel of his boot, and the horse started to increase speed.

Passing one, two, three horses. This is good
He then put himself into a pattern with the horse, to keep a smooth balance. He proceeded to do some concious meditation, something like a focus, but too a much more effective level. He made himself seem lighter to the horse. This drastically helped increase the horses speed.

Almost there. One more racer to go.

As he caught up to the rider, he looked to his right. The rider returned the glance and excepted the challenge. The rider pushed, then Shadow pushed. Both horses traded places for first, multiple times.

This is good. Even if i dont win, ill be second, and this rider will be better.
The horse im riding will be as well... Well, if it werent for the fact that this was a dream.

The doctor watched Shadow Dragon's progress and couldn't help but smile. His readiness to accept the situation coupled with his happy grinn as the horse gained speed were just to sweet. He seemed to be under the impression that it was all a pleasant dream.

"Maybe I've been to kind to him. Every human has her weakness, her fears. I must be able to dig up something on him."

But the more she searched about him and the more she probed his mind the less demons she found. He seemed to be a do-gooder such as she had never seen before. Her nails tapped against her desk as she tried to think.

"He serves to help and protect no matter the cost......... Well .... what if he were somehow unable to help?"

He was sitting on a solid wooden chair on a grubby street. The smell from the door next to him hinted that it was a bar of some sort, and a cheap one too. A young woman exited the bar followed closely by a man. They were arguing, loudly. The man grabbed her arm, she tried to shake him off. He slapped her and shouted some more. No-one was around and even if they were they probably wouldn't have cared, it was not that kind of neighbourhood. Shadow Dragon might by now have tried to move, to cry out and would have noticed a suprising unwilingness from his body to co-operate. Actually even his angle of vision seemed somehow strange, as if he were looking up at the two struggling individuals. He was trapped in the 6-month old body of a baby. Unable to speak, unable to walk or even crawl. He was hardly able to sit without the support of the chair.

What is this? Where am I? Whats going on? Why cant I move? How can I save that woman, if Im in this form

The baby form of Shadow thought as he sat in a baby chair. Interesting that he still had his knowledge and his memories, even though he was nothing more than a baby.

Dont panic. theres got to be something you can do to help her. Maybe if I cry really loud, I can ruin the mood and annoy the man.

The baby started to cry, profusely. There seemed to be no end to his crying. The man reacted as suspected. He slapped the woman and knocked her on the ground, where she stayed cause it hurt too much.
"Shut up you stupid baby! Where the f#$% did you come from? Dont make me come over there."

The crying would have stopped, if Shadow had cared. He knew exactly what was about to happen.

Hes coming over here to shut me up, good, thisll give the woman the chance to run.

The man stormed over to the baby, and hit him, knocking the chair and baby down. The woman didnt take the oportunity to run, instead she jumped on the mans back. "NO!!!, Dont hurt the kid, he hasnt done anything to you!"
"Get off my back B#$%!" the man, in rage now, yelled as he threw her off his back.

That didnt work. why didnt the woman take the oportunity to run. Shes a caring woman is why. Hmmm. I wonder, do i still have some of my skills if i have my memories still?

The man continued to hit the woman, ignoring the baby again.
Then something unexpected happened. A strange dog came up, teeth baring. A growl coming from deap within. It barked at the 3 in the alley way. The man and woman looked up. The dog proceeded past the baby and threatened some more.

"What do you want, dog?" The man asked as he turned to face the dog.
There was no responce from the dog. Just a continuous growl as he bared his teeth.

"Hey, whats going on out here?" The Bartender, a meaty man, asked.
"None of your Business." the man exclaimed.
"Help me." the woman said.
"Mister, you better put your clothes back on and leave here, before I call the cops." As the bartender came forward, a shotgun showed in his arms.

Yes, amazing, i can still use meditation to 'alert' others. The dog was a distraction. The bartender to end the situation.

Before the baby's head exploded from the imense preasure due to the meditation that the brain wasnt yet developed enough for, everything went black again.

"Impressive, seems as if he's determined to stick to his principles no matter what. And with skills like those it's childs play, literally."

The cold was growing and her mug was empty. She left her seat to make herself some more hot tea. She sipped and tried to think of something else to amuse herself with. However Shadow Dragon had intrigued her, she wished to learn more about him.

"Let's find out a little more about what makes you tick shall we love."

White light. And intensity so strong one expected to be blinded by a single glimpse. Yet the white light was gentle. It was strong enough to hinder one's vision yet it did not hurt to look at it. The light was all around him, engulfing him. Out of nowhere came a voice, impossible to tell whether it was male or female. The voice said,

"We be the allmighty power. You may ask us one question and one question only which we will answer truthfully."

It was always fun to see what one question people cared enough for to ask God.
