If asked, Raphael would probably say that he was a good kid that cared a healthy amount for other beings. Still, that always seemed to be a lie when he was dealing with his sister, as seeing her heights of what he tended to regard as fanciful and even unsafe philanthropy tended to make him feel like the meanest, cruelest, most unconcerned Soquili alive.
But he accepted that as par for the course; after all, HE wasn't about to start scouring the countryside in search of the wounded insects of the world! When it all came down to it, he would far rather Gemma give up her work and stay safe for her own sake, something she seemed bound and determined NOT to do.
Sighing, Raphael gave his sister a Look, something that was hard to do when she seemed so honestly determined to believe that a regular couldn't be a danger. "Yeah, but he COULDA. You had no way to know he wasn't hurt cause he attacked someone and they fought back! He still had his teeth and hooves, he could really hurt you, Gemma! Just because he doesn't have horns and fangs doesn't mean he's not a bad person, you know? Bad people come in all shapes!" As their parents always told them, but who was keeping track of things like THAT? Not Gemma, obviously.
But he WAS glad to know that everything had turned out ok, at least. Stepping up beside his sister, Raphael wrapped his wings around her and gave her a hug, then pulled back and pat her head. "Well, at least it all worked out ok this time. Just try to be a bit more careful, ok?"

Heh. Hurt insects? Well, she HAD yelled at Vidi for threatening to crunch on a butterfly, hadn't she? Silly, silly little foal. Gemma was a bleeding heart, though, and that really was how it was most of the time with bleeding hearts. She just happened to bleed a little more. If that made any sense.
"But he didn't, did he?" Why were people always so caught up in the what could have happeneds when...nothing had? It made her eyes want to cross with the lack of sense. Honestly. However, she let it go and sighed, leaning into her brother as he hugged her and giving him a small nuzzle. "I'll be more careful, Raphy, but I won't stop helping things if I can. Can't help myself." Which was true. She just felt compelled!
As he pulled away she looked up at him with a stubborn look, "You love me for it, admit it!"

"More like 'in spite of it', Gemma." And that was all Raphael was going to discuss about that subject, at least for now. Arguing with Gemma was like talking to a brick wall; no matter how much logic you used, she just ignored it and continued on her merry way; it was enough to drive a guy crazy!
At least she wasn't a totally lost cause; she might frustrate the hell out of her brother on a regular basis, but the fact that she was so willing to put herself out on a limb was endearing. Frustrating, but endearing.
Ruffling her mane with his wings, Raphael gave Gemma a grin. "So, now that we've done our good deed, ready to go hom? I don't know about you, but I'd like to make it back before Zaris shows up and starts heckling, don't you agree?"

She could have responded, but she too knew when things were pointless and let it go. The two foals butted heads about things but it was only because Raphael constantly worried about his youngest sibling and that was really all Gemma needed to back off on it. It made her feel special to be so cared about, even if she got tired of everyone fretting.
"Mmhm. Let's go home, yes. Zaris annoys me with his talking down to me 'cause I'm a girl." she made a huffing noise, "Just 'cause I'm a girl." she laughed and nuzzled at her brother again before running off, "Catch me if you can, slow poke!"
