Taban chuckled, "Ah yes. The hyena is a small creature compared to you...but their jaws are brilliant, they can shatter bones easily, lock their jaws you know. Quite difficult to free yourself from a hyena's bite... Don't worry though. This hyena was by my side from the moment I was born. I hear she's even encountered the humans."

Nyack was confused. His pride often said they were large, creatures with giant teeth, slobbering all the time, with hideous laughter. Taban had only mentioned they had strong jaws. Perhaps they weren't as bad as the lions made out.
He started and almost stopped walking. "Man? She's seen Man? Were... I mean... did they hurt her? I mean she's obviously still here but were... they vicious and have fire?" His tail twitched as he searched even more for the Hyena.

Taban paused, one paw lifted into the air as he'd been in mid-step. "Well... we are natural born story tellers. Perhaps that's her tale to tell and not mine. Wouldn't it be better from the source rather than a secondary one?" He smirked a bit, "Though... she does have a scar from one of their thunder sticks."

The lion lifted his ears in shock and stared at him. "A thunder stick?" He questioned, his tail flickering in excitement. "Are we almost to them?" He had so many questions to ask this Hyena!

"Yes." Taban chuckled, answering both questions with a simple word. He nodded his head forward towards an upcoming hill. Once they peaked it, sure enough, there was a group of three creatures. The first, a maned wolf, trotted up eagerly.
He was a large creature, larger than Taban was in fact though he looked harmless for the moment. His 'beaked' mouth was parted into a grin, pink tongue flopped out of the corner of his mouth. Fubar gave a welcoming 'wuff' as he approached, pausing to glance to the newcomer. His mouth snapped shut as he leaned forward to sniff.
Down below, a brown hyena looked up from her paws and a large white cheetah glanced up lazily. The cheetah had some slight resemblance to Taban as far as the socks on his paws. However, the first thing that the newcomer would notice was a gold and crimson harness strapped about the cheetah's back, it looked much like a saddle with a golden dragon holding the straps to the cheetah's neck and chest. A coursing harness, but only he really knew that.
"Fubar." Taban introduced the wolf for Nyack. "And this is Nyak. Down below there is Lucia and Bai-Feng."
"You may call me Xuco if the name is difficult for you to pronounce." The cheetah remarked in a sharply accented voice. Chinese, but again only he would really know that.

Nyack lowered his head at the sight of the dog-like creature. He ducked until he remembered Taban's words and straightened himself up. He gave a sniff of his own, tail flickering behind him like a green dragonfly. "Hello Fubar..." He replied then looked to the others.
He opened his mouth to greet them but was entranced by the harness. He crept forward, hoping to get a better look at the object. "What's that...?" He asked excitedly. He frowned and tried to deepen his voice, standing as tall as he could. "What I mean is... I'm Nyack and I'm very proud to meet you both." He took a quick glance to Taban to make sure he was right.

The white cheetah didn't even bat an eye. The question was apparently a very common one. "I am a coursing cheetah. This was my harness and collar. It identified me as a part of my man's team." He dipped his head a bit. "It is a pleasure. I never thought we would have a lion in our troupe."
Lucia chuckled, it was a strange, almost haunting sound. "Indeed. But a welcome surprise none the less."
Fubar only nodded.
"Race has little to do with it." Taban answered casually and flashed a calm smile Nyack's way. "I'm sure you'll fit right in. We are...oddities of our species. We do not see each other as a group of different beasts, only tacticians.

"Wow... you were part of Man's team?" He paused and frowned slightly, tilting his head. "er what's a 'coursing cheetah' do?" He questioned furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
He puffed out his chest when the two commented on him being in the troupe. "I'm going to be a body guard!" He stated proudly, head in the air. He grinned at Fubar, taking an instant liking to the maned wolf.
"So... we're like a pride..." Nyack worded with a smile. "A family."

Bai Feng nodded once more. "Indeed. Coursing is a man's sport. We are blinded with a bit of fabric until we reach the hunting ground. The coursers are sent out after a target. Whomever makes the kill gains points. There are other factors such as the type a kill, the speed, and how clean you kept the corpse. A fine sport I must say."
Fubar grinned. Another bodyguard! That was good to hear. He'd have someone to share the job with. The maned wolf gave a nod of approval.
"Precisely." Taban nodded. "We do not see ourselves as a group of assorted predators. Rather, we are all tacticians. Brothers and sisters. There is no king here, we all stand at the same level." He chuckled a bit, "I just happen to be the most charismatic."
