Chances are if it gets around publicly that we don't have sexual attraction, the government (or churches, depending on who beats the other in the race to it) will start to try to ban asexual marriages because we "don't make children and probably will only corrupt any children that may be adopted by an asexual by turning the child asexual or homosexual" - ya know, about the same excuse they make for homosexuality.

Actually several churches are already speaking out against asexuality, saying that we are choosing to shun a gift from god. Apparently sexuality (Song of Solomon I think it is...) is a gift that we should embrace (after marriage) and we are choosing to turn it down. rolleyes

Er... Ok, maybe I was wrong. But they SHOULDN'T be against it... We aren't causing kids and others to think they should have sex--Even if it's without marriage. Infact, we're kinda against it. If we choose to have kids, then we can either do it by having sex just to make children, or doing it scientifically (Bah... I don't trust that...).

Those who don't want to have sex for it, but don't trust the scientific way will simply adopt children.

I'm sure that the romantic attraction will have most to do with how quickly we're accepted. If many of us are heteroromantic asexuals, or *maybe* romantically interested in either, then it might come quickly. But if there are a lot of homoromantic asexuals, people might not accept us so quickly. Just remember, it's not our fault that majority of Americans are against those of us who are interested in the same sex. It's THEIR faults they see it that way, even if they learned that from their parents. They had the choice to go against their parent's beliefs.

Either way, I don't think that our acceptance is going to happen any time soon. People are still incredulous and disbelieving of something they generally don't understand, like not being sexually attracted to others. I think it's going to take many more years before the public can even begin to be able to identify asexuality where it is and know what others are talking about when they say "asexual" much less accept others who identify themselves with it.

I believe, however, that there is some hope. I believe that this generation is much more lenient and understanding when it comes to sexualities, but that could just be because I live in California. sweatdrop

I am "biromantic" as it may be called. I come to adore, admire, and love the unique individuals that can belong to either sex, but I don't feel compelled to get horizontal with either. So I apologize for making the acceptance of asexuality more difficult.

One thing bugged me, they used the word "issue"? We're an issue now?
Oh well.
So, we're going to be studied eh? Ooooo we're freaky. xp

Okay, I could quote all of you who are revolving your conversations around this topic, *points up* but I find this one works best with what I have to say. (About us being an 'issue' and being 'studied')
Yes, this might have been a while ago and you all have moved on but I have had something that has been on my mind when I saw this yesterday and I just have to get it off my chest. o_o
First off, you guys seem to be using the word 'issue' in a negative sense. I just didn't see it in that sense. To me the word issue was more like it was used in the sense like 'subject'.
And on the subject of us being 'studied'... isn't that what we want? To be documented? I have read threads on Asexuality before on Gaia and lot of people are like 'I can't wait for someone to research deeper into this topic' and on this thread you all seem a bit upset about this. ;_;
Thanks for taking your time reading my ranting. XD *gives cookies as peace-offerings*

Peace and Love,

Hah, this is also my first time posting on the guild. *claps hands*

Welcome 3nodding
Ooh, double post! Can I delete one, can I? I want to use my mod-powers!
>>;;

Ok, whatever. Why study us? I think that's like question it. We are asexual, accept that! You don't need the answer to WHY and you don't need to find water on Mars.

Ohmygod. I didn't notice I double posted. DX
Yes, please delete it.

Ooo, water on mars *eyes widen, smiling* Heh. That's actually something I'd like to see happen. We've actually already proved there was once life there. You see, this is answering an age old question. *eyes closed, head downwards, grining. Waving thumb pointing behind him* THIS, however, them studying asexuality? We were joking, as if they were going to put us in cages and observe us--Or something more 'severe' than simply being interviewed and surveyed. Interviews and surveys are all they'll need, *shrugs, sighs* why would they go further?
*shrugs, while grinning and slightly laughing behind the grin* Well then, I hope you understand this a bit better.

*lifts an eyebrow, blinks a couple of times looking upwards and slightly to the side* For some reason this reminds me of Illumi--Even though I haven't seen him go this far.

*wishes to be studied* whee

That would rock, really. biggrin
You would be helping to bring asexuality into a new light for the public to see. It would be fabulous, if not a little uncomfortable. To me, whether your interested in sex or not, it's still something private sweatdrop

I don't understand why they have too study us though...

I can see why,so don't be put off. I'm curious about it and I'm sure glad to know there are others who are curious too.

Heh, they're not going to cage us. We're not wild animals.

Okay, maybe the rest of the sexual world might examine us. Might. What is the worst that could happen? They're going to ask questions, perhaps put us in weird circumstances...and ask more questions. I don't think they're going to force us to take pills or "medication" that will boost our testosterone or give similar effects to Viagra. Besides, it's not like doctors will force you to take anything without your consent.

Strokend, terraforming Mars is very unlikely at this point.

First they say to obstain from sex...next they tell us to lie flat on our backs and spread our legs. Honestly if they force people to have sex...that's rape. It sounds so dumb but so obvious. If I don't want to have sex with my boyfriend that frankly is between me and him. If he doesn't like it he can go else where. (Luckily my boyfriend is very supportive and kind so I don't have to much to worry about. ) I'd like to see some of these fundamentalist force they're opinion on me. I think I'd moon them.
