Floating Prompts

Word Count total: 1200, included 2 required prompts
These prompts can be done at ANY time, or even multiple times. if applicable. Basically, the required one is a suggestion for a free prompt substitute.

Family I: A time has come when, for some reason, you need to make a more or less no return decision on telling a very close friend (significant other?) or a family member about your up to now secret life. Not telling may significantly damage the relationship, telling has its own repercussions. What has happened? What do you decide, how, and why? Is the reaction what you expected it to be? If you didn't tell, can you handle the consequential break? If you do tell, how do you handle knowing that the information may leak---or, worse, one of your superiors could find out and have major issues with it? **It is encouraged, but not required, to do this prompt as a joint prompt with other characters and/or NPCs**
Word Count 600 Words **Required**

  • Love I: So… now that we're on the subject of family relations… what is up with your love life? Is there anyone you fancy? Spill the beans!
    Word Count 300 Words

  • Life I: You wake up and you go to bed, but in between lots of things happen. Describe those things. What happens on a typical (or a-typical, perhaps?) day out of your life? **Required**
    Word Count 300 Words

Quote:
I will be taking on the new requirements to better develop my character. I like how they are presented and would love to give Erol a more grounded form of character development. So enjoy the process it will be slow but I hope it will be enjoyable to see how he responds to most of the prompts. If at any time you wish to start an RP with Erol please PM or catch me in the shop thread.

Family I: Don't quit your day job!
Playlist: Robin Thicke - Lonely World

After four long years of keeping everything under wraps, Erol had finally come to the decision that it was time to tell his band members the truth about his second life. They had known for a while 4 years ago that he had had a hard life growing up. They knew other obligations kept him away from their usual gigs and practice and because they knew and understood they never asked. However, with all the flack over the rising number of Evolved in the world it was becoming increasingly hard to keep one's identity under lock and key.

Rayborn had been very understanding up until now, keeping quiet about Erol's hero-work as Crossfade. He had wanted the boy to tell the group long ago to save face, perhaps to spare the unease and confusion of being lied to all this time. He never speculated what would happen though, how they would react. This could very well be the end of the underground group: Poor Unfortunate Souls... indeed that they were.

Cori had been abused as a young girl. Her father drinking down his liquid courage to muster the strength to beat his wife and child. When the mother was not home to take his fury the child was the fall back plan. She had even undergone some less then savory nights of molestation from her father's co-workers. A brutal picture if one wished to draw upon it... That didn't stop the young child from developing an outlet, a keyboardist in her own right and the voice of an angel. She found her salvation with the group.

Tristan was subjected to drug addition long before he had a say in the matter. As an incubator baby he stayed in the hospital for two months fighting heroine addiction. He would never know his true mother's love but he learned the hard way the lover of another when the state rewarded them money for taking care of child that did not belong to them. That was means for Tristan to hit the streets and learn of the drugs he was born into. It took him months to get right but with plenty of love and attention and his band members to support him he had become one of the best drummers on the scene.

Taz was just another punk on the block. Selling or taking what he needed to get by. He left the home a long time ago living in shelters or hanging with crowds that were little less then carrying of him. Because of his good looks he had an easy way of making money. Who said male prostitutes didn't exist? Those were hard times to think about but he had to live some kind of way, women weren't his only customers either... but stumbling into the right bar at the right time could have saved his life. Who would have guessed he had the smooth sultry voice that was meant for the stage and not muffled into pillow after pillow.

Yes... that was their reason behind such an obvious name. Poor unfortunate souls indeed....

And so as Erol stepped from the elevator leading to Rayborn's office he wondered just what he would say. How could he explain to his companions that he was one more problem child in the bunch. While their lives were worse off then his own, he felt he belonged. They never ostracized him for being an evolved (even though they didn't know) it was still a reprieve from the outside world that hated his kind.

His hand shook as he held tight to the doorknob that would lead him to his demise or life a weight off his shoulders. Knocking lightly he waited resting his forehead on the door. Just as he did this the door opened Rayborn on the other side looking down at the forehead that had suddenly fell to his chest. A soft smile on his face as he wrapped the boy in his arms comfortingly. "Its better this way. You know this right?" Rayborn asked soothing Erol's worries.

"Yes. I know." He replied standing up to give his mentor and friend a warm smile. "Let's get it over with..."

Entering Rayborn's office the rest of the group were sitting in the main room laughing and chatting it up. As the two entered, they quieted down turning curious eyes to their lead guitarist and singer. "Yo bro! What's up? Why ya got us all hanging out with the manager man..." Taz spoke up with his usual street slang. Lounging casually he watched the solemn expression on his band member's face and wondered just how serious this little meeting was. "Bro?"

Erol didn't speak stepping into the room the take a seat at the edge of the couch that was furnished in the room. He clasped his hands together worrying his bottom lip with teeth as his brown eyes scanned the room of friends. "I brought ya'll here today for a very serious reason." He began, his eyes shifted to Rayborn who only nodded encouraging him further. Taking a deep breath, Erol turned back to the group. "I need to know. What are your views on Evolved humans?" With that out in the open he expected them to catch on instantly but this was not the case.

Taz spoke up first shifting his head to the side as he ran a dark hand through his dyed hair. "You mean those people with powers of sorts?" He shrugged giving a derisive snort. "I mean it'd be awesome to have power like that I'll admit but being led to believe we are merely mortal men and women... it's kinda hard to stomach. That there are people like that in the world. Some who can teleport, walk through walls an even read your deepest thoughts. I don't know if I like that, I don't feel safe anymore but then I grew up in an unsafe environment. So what's this about?"

Erol shook his head keeping all questions to a minimum. "I just need to know. What about the rest of you. How do you feel about it?" Tristan and Cori looked at each other shrugging. They didn't seem to have a view either way but Cori did speak up then. "To be honest, I really wouldn't care either way. The bottom line is that we are all human with or without powers. We bleed the same blood, we hurt, we suffer, we laugh and we cry. So the way I see it the only thing different is that they have one extra weapon to deal with life. I'm only concerned in how they plan to use that weapon. Will they try to wipe us regulars out or will they protect their way of life with it? It's a matter of opinion really, I can't be bothered with someone's problems when I have my own to deal with, if you get my drift." She looked to Erol a worried expression on her face but otherwise she had not other views.

Erol turned his attention to Tristan who remained quiet. "Tristan?" He pushed fishing for answers. Tristan stood to his feet. "Seriously, I don't like any of this s**t about those people. It's bad enough with the way life is now we gotta worry about some b***h who can just walk their happy a** into any bank and take my hard earned money? I don't like it... I don't like none of them. And as long as they stay the hell away from me the better." Tristan stood there fists at his side as he barked out his views. Of the three it appeared he'd be the hardest to understand but Erol knew he had to continue. He ventured a look to Rayborn who looked away. He knew as well this wouldn't turn out so great.

"Why you asking, bro?" Taz chimed in finally. "You got something to say? Run into an evolved or something?"

Erol gave a haggered chuckle. "Something like that... yeah." With a great sigh he lifted his hand aimed toward the coffee table where a pitcher of water and various half empty glasses rested. "Just watch." He instructed and with great concentration and nerves, the table began to shake suddenly the pitcher began to move violently the water inside shaking uncontrollably until the pitcher shattered causing the water to spill out over the table. Each glass shattered shortly afterward also spilling it's contents.

Everyone stood suddenly jumping back in surprise, others in worry. As Erol looked around the room he kept his hand leveled. "I won't hurt any of you but if you advance I have no choice but to defend myself." His brown eyes fell on Tristan most. "So... how do you feel about them now... bro?"

Tristan growled making no moves toward Erol but it was obvious he could not deal with the idea he'd been associated with an evolved this whole time. Cori looked worried yes but she reached out to take Erol's hand a look of awe on her face suddenly clearing the worry. "You've been here all this time? Why didn't you say anything?" She let his hand fall on her cheek reassuring her friendship. "I won't leave you alone but I feel slightly betrayed that you didn't trust us enough to tell us til now."

Erol moved his gaze to the floor a wash of shame falling over him. Taz slapped him playfully on the back. "Bro that's awesome! So like what do you do anyway? What's it called?" The unexpected glee lifted Erol's worries a tad but as he looked up Tristan grabbed his coat, "******** this s**t! You damn monsters are everywhere!" Fleeing the room with a slamming of the door behind him, Erol could only sigh.

"Don't worry about him. You know how he gets, we'll talk to him. He'll come around just let him simmer. He loves you more than he's making this out to be, he's just hurt cause you'd wait this long to tell us." Taz spoke up his tone serious from its usual street slang. "I'll talk to him."

With that Erol sighed in relief collapsing into Taz with a hitch in his voice. "I was so scared..." He confessed. Taz patted him on the shoulder. Cori rubbing his back affectionately. "You knew about this then?" Taz asked Rayborn over his friend's shoulder. "He's been carrying that weight too long. I finally got him to let it go. It's up to the rest of you to either help him carry it or watch him fall under the weight. I only wonder what will you do?" Rayborn chimed in he gave a soft smile heading for the door. "I'll get Tristan stay here and talk it out."

Finally...so it was out in the open. Erol remained comfortably pinned to his friend's shoulder visibly shaking from the effort it took not to pass out. It had been that hard to speak on it but even more was how strong the relief that had washed over him. "Finally..." he breathed.

Love I: Who do you love?
Playlist: P!nk - Free

So many faces and yet none of them stick in my head. I've often wondered what happened to that girl I had met when I was younger. This sucks, can't even remember her name. Whatever... She must not have been that important to me.

Rayborn wants me to get in touch with my softer side. Whatever the hell that means? I'm guessing he wants to know more about my personal life, or rather love life. What love life? It's not like there aren't any groupies asking for my number on a constant basis but they don't interest me none. I've gone on a few dates here and there but most of the girls are ditz anyway. I hate ditz.

The boys put me up on a date with Cori once. No doubt I had fun but there was nothing romantic about our date. It was just fun like hanging with one of the guys. She's pretty, beautiful voice and can play a killer keyboard but other than that... nothing. Though it's not like I'm looking for anyone right now, with my life style I don't have time for anyone.

It's hard enough keeping up with the band but then the agency wants me to risk my life on the daily. What kind of life is that for someone who'd be with me? I don't want them worrying about me to begin with so its for the best that no one gets involved with me. Besides I haven't even had my first kiss so what do I look like trying to get all ... ? This is stupid! Like I said anyway, there's no time in my life for someone to love. And how is one boy suppose to understand the concept of love when his own family disowned him as a child. There's no way that can happen. And my former guardian Akilah... she didn't pick up on the signs when I was younger. She ran off with some guy to get married and gave me back to the agency without a fight. That was my first brush with anything related to love, she was of no blood relation so there's nothing wrong with my wanting to be with her right? I mean she was only 11 years older. It's hot going out with an older woman anyway.

Whatever... she's married now and out of my life. I don't have time for anyone right now. Much rather prefer not to worry over my identity being discovered and my enemy using my personal life to get over on me. It's bad enough I worry about my band members and Rayborn do I really want to add one extra person?

Life I: A typical day in the life of...
Playlist: One Republic - All I Need

Mid Morning
"Hold it right there!" The shout came from afar and probably a little higher then Erol aka Crossfade had wanted to present himself. But the criminal left him no choice. Just a local run of the mill baddie who needed a lesson in physics. Though Crossfade could easily use a shockwave to stun the guy he didn't bother with super abilities when dealing with small fry. Besides it helped with his target practice as he pulled out his twin Jericho 941 aiming them high over the man's head. Shooting them off he clipped some of the man's wild hair with a gleeful smiles as he used a light burst of his powers from ground level to push off the building he was perched on. Landing with a soft thud he kept his guns trained on the man smirking lightly as he lifted one to rest on his shoulder the other keeping aim. "Why do you people always do this?" He huffed irritatedly. "I say hold it and you take off. Don't you think it would benefit you more if you just stopped?" The man gave a huff glaring over his shoulder in fear and disgust. <******** you evo-swine! If it weren't for you're kind guys like me would have it easy street." The man spat. He new better than to push his buttons but sharing his dislike of Crossfade's kind was always high on his list. Crossfade simply rolled his eyes as cops pulled in behind him. They took over with their jobs there, hand cuffing the man. "What? I don't get a pat on the back?" Crossfade chimed in jokingly but he only received glares from the cops one muttering under his breath that was not missed. "The whole lotta ya need to just get disappeared. You're making us look bad." At this Crossfade glowered but said nothing he didn't have time for colorful banter with the cities 'finest'. "Yeah whatever, man.. if you were doing your job I'd gladly back off." With that Crossfade made his leave slipping into an alley where a loud motor went off announcing his latest purchase from the many underground gigs.

Afternoon
"Your late... again." The bitter moans greeted Erol as he entered the studio. His band members all glaring daggers at him. Even after letting out the secret of his night work, they had managed to come to terms. It was mostly between Tristan and Erol where the differences lay but neither were willing to give up something they loved simply cause the other had a disagreement with who they were. So in the long run their stubbornness won out and the band had decided against a split. Besides they were doing damn good and it would just be a horrible loss if they let a near sided idea keep them from a long term goal.

The group quickly got together after Erol got himself situated going through various songs they'd composed over the years. The most notable one which Erol loved. The group had decided on letting him sing the solo to this particular peace as it seemed to come from his heart as he belted out the tunes on soft sultry voice. The beats were mellow but powerful as they ranged through the studio. Rayborn smiling in admiration of his little group glad for their many talents and not just musical. "... And all I need is the air I breath..." Erol let his voice feel the studio echoing off the walls as the band brought the tempo of the song to a crescendo.

Some time later the group finally began packing their things. Erol casing his guitar as he headed for the door. "I'll catch you guys later. Good work today!" He called after them as he headed out the door.

Evening
"This is so much fun, Erol!" The tinkling voice filled the compartment easily enough as the two floated up to the sky on a Ferris wheel. Erol was too entranced by the city lights below that he'd blocked out all notions that he was supposed to be on a date. His current date reached over to shake him out of his daze as he blinked looking to her. "Hm? What?" He breathed shaking himself from the lull as he let a lazy smile spread across his lips.

"You're so distracted, Erol. You don't like being with me?" the girl questioned with a pout. Erol snorted but kept his smile as he leaned forward to give the girl a soft kiss on the cheek. "No I'm fine. I was just daydreaming. It's really nice up here that's all. And I suppose I could have come here myself but that just wouldn't seem right so I gave you a call." He offered to answer her unspoken question from before."

The girl pouted leaning back with a blush. "So I'm just convenient, then?" She pushed feeling a bit put out. Erol arched a brow as he looked around then back to her. "Is this an interrogation room or something? I could have easily called someone else, ya know. Just relax. It's got nothing to do with convenience, you came to mind so be happy." He informed feeling the sudden need to open the door and jump to his death. It was times like this he wished he hadn't agreed to dating one groupie every other week... then again it was a bet he lost thanks to Taz so he had no choice. His band mates were worried about his love life. Like he had time for that... and now that they knew about him they should be just as cautious but ...nooo... they wanted to throw more girls on him for it. If only to get him to settle down and just do band things. He snorted.

For the most part the ride was enjoyable, relaxing even, his date for the night managed to settle down on her interrogations enough to enjoy the peacefulness too. They went out to eat, took a walk on the beach and ended the night on a mellow note with a kiss to the cheek as he hurried to his bike ready to go home.

Finally home, he stripped of his cloths down to his boxers, pulled out yesterdays Chinese take-out from the fridge and plopped down in front of the television to check the latest news while going over some area reports he'd been given by Charles. It helped him keep a heads up on the local rise of Evolved especially the kind that could become a thorn in his side if they decided to do things that were unsavory for his health. Thankfully, not too much had been going on lately which meant he'd sleep easy for once tonight as he turned off the TV and stacked his reports neatly on the coffee table. With a wide yawn he headed for the adjacent room where his twin size bed rested. A Pokemon Diamond and Pearl featuring Goukazaru decorated his sheets and comforter, his dirty little secret which he'd tell no one not even Rayborn knew about that. Go figure... he liked the Pokemon for some reason but wasn't into the show.

Ah well that was a typicall day in the life of one called Erol Avery, Flordia's own evolved... Crossfade.
