Kamiru sat at the bar, feeling highly out of place. Kamiru knew that something was wrong with the city he was in, but he also knew that an invitation to teach a seminar could never be turned down. Kamiru looked around and instantly noticed Rafael and Lucius. He sensed something bad about them, but he couldn't say for sure. Not being a very superstitious person, he never thought of things such as ghosts or vampires, though he would never doubt their existence either. However, before he had left, one of the other professors had handed him a pendant that distinctly looked like a dragon's eye wrapped in silver. The professor said it was for good luck. Kamiru figured it meant that the professor wanted rid of it. Kamiru had the feeling that something was going to happen, and that he was going to be in the midst of it all, without even knowing it. Kamiru stood up and left the bar, deciding to go for a walk along the roads in the city, not suspecting just what could happen to him.

Jadelyn opened her eyes as the traffic along the sidewalk thinned. Stretching slowly, her back arching like a cat, she wondered how long she had been dozing on the sidewalk. Pale blue eyes scanned the street as she pulled a black Sharpie from one of her pockets, flipping the cap off with one hand. She began to draw along her left arm, freehanding spirals and lines that hinted at being some sort of tribal design.

She glanced up as she heard footsteps along the pavement and she looked up to see a rather tall boy walking by himself along the street. Her gaze moved from his feet traveling up to his blue hair and she felt her fangs extend slightly, the blood lust within her making itself known.

She lowered her gaze to her arm, forcing her concentration on the design until the hunger passed, willing her fangs to retract.

Rafael returned the vampire's bow with a polite nod, sparing a brief glance at the two who seemed to materialize behind him. He disliked them both immediately, their arrogance and pride annoyed him.

"Aa, yes. The coven," his voice hid his distaste for such assemblies.

It wasn't the idea coven itself that bothered him, but rather the added connotation of the word. "Coven" brought to his mind images of ancient, empty rituals and mindless servants to a misinterpreted being.

"Have a seat, won't you?" he asked, easily maintaining the polite, neutral tone in his voice. "I'm Rafael."

He offered no explanation of his existance or his presence; he didn't feel he needed to as he took another sip of his drink, savoring the sickeningly sweet taste that hid the bitter tinge of alcohol. He had never liked the drink, but there was some imperceptible quality to the watery liquid that kept him from abandoning it completely, some aspect of the drink that made him allow its cloying taste into his mouth.

He let his mind drift back to the beings around him, the three from the coven in particular, and realized with some small surprise that the entire time he had drifted off was scarely more than a single second.

Lucius gave another curt nod. "We have been looking for you for days." He gestured to the two figures in black behind him. "Luella was the first to gain scent of you, she is a good tracker. We wondered what you were doing in the city." the girl, who had been eyeing him, gave him a small insolent jerk of her head, as if to indicate that she was the one the coven leader was talking about.

The coven leader cleared his throat again. "We're afraid that you've come to this city at a bad time, things could not be more woeful for our clan. Recently, there have been a series of.....attacks...towards our kind. We have been tracking the creature responsible for the attacks, hoping to slay him, but alas, we are unsuccessful."

"We seem to be lacking more of our kin, and we need help more than ever. We are cautious, yes, but even that does not seem to be helping us now." And with that, the coven leader eyed the young man at the bar. The young man's pendant seemed to entrance the coven leader.

Kamiru noticed the looks that he was getting from many different directions. He felt that of all times, now would be the best time to go. Walking out of the bar, he walked down the nearest paved road, not having any real destination. However, he soon stopped and realized that of all the things he could have done, this was the worst. He also realized that he couldn't just walk back in. He walked up to Jadelyn to ask for directions. "Excuse me madam, do you know where the nearest hotel is?" Kamiru asked politely, trying not to offend.

The marker in Jadelyn's hand froze as Kamiru approached her, eyes looking up from under her lashes at him. She tilted her head back to rest on the door, unable to keep from smiling as he called her 'madam.'

A modern boy with manners...how rare she thought as a bare foot tapped against the sidewalk.

She shrugged at his question. "I believe there's one a couple blocks down, but I'm not sure." She pointed off towards the club district as she was speaking. Licking her lips slightly, she lowered her attentions back to her arm, finishing off the design. "If you need a place to crash...." she let her words trail off, glancing up at him with a brow arched.

Kamiru looked at the woman. There was something about her that he liked, but he couldn't say what. "Well, thank you for your help, but I think I'll just stay at an inn. I wouldn't want to put more trouble on you by staying here." Kamiru then turned toward the club district, walking down the street leisurely. Kamiru suddenly felt more peaceful, and smiled as he walked to the inn. He unconciously pulled out the pendant, and began to stare at it. There was something about it that bothered him, and yet...he didn't mind having it. Kamiru kept walking.

Jadelyn sighed as he walked away, a bit disappointed. The company would have been...nice, to say the least.

"If you need anything...find me here," she called after him as he disappeared down the street.

Capping her marker, she shoved it back in her pocket and rose to stretch, arms reaching above her head. Adjusting her corset, she decided to take a walk, the blood lust getting harder for her to ignore without her art to concentrate on. She needed to clean the old building up, get things up and running..but first, she needed to take a walk and find someone to soothe the ache for awhile.

Kamiru reached the inn, and bought a room. He couldn't say how long he was going to be in town, so he only bought it for one night. As he lay on the bed, he looked out of the window that faced the street. He saw Jadelyn walking by, and thought it very odd that she was just wandering about. He opened his window and called to her. "Madam, I saw you earlier today. Is there anything you need help with?" Kamiru called to her, not sure if she was in trouble or if she was just wandering. He decided to meet her downstairs, and immediately ran down to meet her. As he left the building, he thought to himself I would never have done this back at home..., but nonetheless, he met Jadelyn outside of the inn.

Jadelyn froze as she heard the voice, head tilting to the side. Her eyes scanned the street before going to the window. She smiled and shook her head, one hand running through spiked black hair.

Oh bloody hell, what are the odds... she thought as she placed a hand on her stomach, calming herself.

Turning towards the door, she watched as he came towards her, realizing just how tall he was now that they were both standing.

"Hey." Kamiru said to Jadelyn, trying not to trip as he walked up to her. She looked beautiful in the moonlight, and Kamiru's heart actually skipped when he reached her. "Is something wrong? You're just wandering around, I was wondering if maybe I could help you." Kamiru wanted to help, and also wanted an excuse to be around her, though he wouldn't admit it to himself.

"Hey yourself." She smiled, the fainted hint of a blush rising to pale cheeks as she tilted her head back to look up at Kamiru.

My my...is he actually worried about my wandering... The corners of her lips tilted up into a grin as she shrugged one shoulder, hand going up to run along the choker at her neck. "Simply out for a bit of night air. I tend to keep night hours and enjoy just walking the streets sometime. You never truly know a place until you walk its streets."

"So, you haven't been here long, then, have you?" Kamiru asked, feeling even more calm knowing that she was new here as well. "I'm just visiting from my hometown. I was invited to give a seminar on Geology, though to be honest, I have no clue where the college is..." Kamiru said, realization dawning on him that he had no clue what to do. "Oh dear...I hate to ask you more questions, but do you know where the college is? Wait..." Kamiru paused, pulling out the pendant. "There...there isn't a college here, is there?" Kamiru asked, worried for the first time since his arrival. He turned to Jadelyn, took a deep breath, and calmed down. "Never mind, don't worry about it. I don't believe I've introduced myself, my name is Kamiru Nakagawa. I'm a Geology professor. I know that I don't look like it. I'm the youngest teacher on the staff at the college I teach at. And your name is?" he asked Jadelyn.

She arched a brow as he spoke of a college, trying to follow his trail of thoughts. Her eyes shifting from his face to the pendant and back again.

"Aye, I'm afraid I don't know if there is a college or not. It's been only a week here for me. Haven't yet learned all the streets." She winked at him, trying to ease his tension.

"A pleasure Kamiru. I'm Jadelyn.." she paused just briefly, trying to remember the most recent last name she had taken for herself. "Jadelyn Hayes."

"The pleasure is all mine, Jadelyn. Well, I guess I'm not going to be able to accomplish anything unless I find the college, so do you mind if I walk with you?" Kamiru could feel his face going slightly red, but he ignored it. "I really don't know what to do. I wonder if this was all just a setup from the other professors. They did seem mad when I got the position in the first place..." Kamiru looked up, and then looked back to Jadelyn. "I'm sorry, I was just mumbling to myself, I do that on occasion. Shall we go then?"
