((Status Update: Within the past two months, the following have happened:
I was in a car accident. Car was totalled, I suffered minor soft tissue damage.
One week after the car accident, Aus and I were in a motorcycle accident. Motorcycle was totalled, I suffered a concussion, minor-moderate soft tissue damage, and severe sprains. Aus suffered minor-moderate soft tissue damage and a broken bone that will require extensive plates and pins surgery to fix. EMT informed us that we were lucky to walk away at all.
Hurricane Katrina destroyed my webhost's (and good friend's) home and server equiptment. As a result, it will be weeks (possibly months) before my website/image database is restored. Thankfully (and most importantly) he and his family evacuated early.
My computer had to be reformatted several times and troubleshot- ultimately, a new OS had to be installed. This seems to have fixed the problems.
My father-in-law was prescribed an antibiotic that lead to him suffering a kidney shutdown and heart problems. After a touch-and-go couple of days, the problem was identified, and he is now recovering.
Misc family and work drama. Rinse, repeat.
Transferring all my MEF images to Image Shack, and trying to get things ready for the grand opening. Add many Gaia glitches, unreliable satellite connection for uploading, and corrupted backup images in need of replacement- stir and let simmer.
So- needless to say, I've had a rough past couple of months. My apologies for falling behind on this journal, I'll do my best to catch up now that offline concerns seem to have calmed down slightly. sweatdrop ))

Lost & Found Unexpected sweetness.
The sugar skull must have been left behind in Durem by accident, and Moorgahaine brought it to the new shop in hopes of reuniting it with its most obvious owner, Gahainen. While it could have possibly belonged to other lodgers, she was certainly the most likely. In the shuffle of events, he had set it down and forgotten about it. Appearantly, the skull had not forgotten about him in return.
After a rather nice evening with Austerulous, Moorgahaine retired to his study to enjoy a bit of reading (and possibly indulge in a good smoke). The candy skull remained on the desk, where he had placed it earlier in the day, but he was oblivious to this detail as he settled in to read The Realgritch Herald. As the moments ticked by, a soft, steady flow of breathing interrupted the room's quiet.
Moorgahaine looked up from the paper in tandem, the twins scanning the room to find the source of this sound. A pair of shock white eyes with pinpoint black pupils stared back at him intently. The twins looked to each other, and then back to the oddly quiet infant lying on the desk before them. After a moments thought, Moorgahaine sighed and went about the business of picking up the child and gathering the proper supplies.
This would not be easy (or pleasant) to explain to Austerulous.

By Any Other Name Just as sweet.
They quickly gathered supplies, and went about searching for a nursery room suitable for the newest addition to Casa Encanto. Moorgahaine looked down at the wide-eyed infant and sighed, "You need a name, little one. Can't very well go around calling you 'sugar skull', after all."
Spark grew thoughtfull, "Perhaps we can, but in a different manner."
Reverie nodded, "Something attached to the origins of that particular candy?"
Spark nodded, "Yes, quite. I think 'Calaveras' would do nicely."
Reverie smiled, "I do believe we've found the right name."
Moorgahaine looked down at the staring baby, "Well, Calaveras it is."
Calaveras remained silent, and ever watchful.

Friskit-
We'll be a bit scarce during Halloween, but trust you to do a smashing job on the festivities. Austerulous has given birth to the wonderful (and slightly pointy) bundle of joy. Oddly enough, two items within the Casa spontaneously transfigured into infants right before the birth. So, looking after three infants will be a bit time-consuming, as we're sure you can imagine.
We will do what we can to get a few Halloween-ish items made in time- but no promises. If you'll excuse us, Thorn (one of the surprise deliveries) has taken to hanging from one of our appendages. By her teeth. We think Austeruelaine is getting inspired by the show, and would rather like to discourage such antics.
Austerulous' laughter is not helping.

Friskit-
Tried the hot pepper sauce, and found she is quite fond of the substance. Same with garlic paste. We mixed the two into a bottle, and she is now quite happily enjoying the rather... unique treat.
Calaveras (the second surprise) is eerily quiet and just... stares. Austerulous has checked, and the lad does appear to have functioning eyelids- he simply chooses not to use them. It is slightly disturbing, but not quite as much as Gahainen. Perhaps I should just be grateful he's not wanting to build a temple in honor of himself (yet).
Austeruelaine has settled down again, and is letting Austerulous polish his metal appendages. Getting one's hand skewered during bath time is not remotely enjoyable. Actually, getting one's hand skewered is just not enjoyable no matter what time it is.
We'll make a note about the babysitting refusal, and do our best to remember it. We're looking forward to seeing your design ideas- you always come up with the most wonderfully original concepts! As for the culprit- if found, the entity will be tied to the tallest post in the main shop area, surrounded by healing Life sprockets, and left to the staff and customers to deal with. We will let you know ahead of time, so you can get the first bit of revenge in.

Watching. Waiting.
Calaveras watched the world around him, but never uttered a single sound. Offerings of sugar would make his breathing quicken in anticipation, but still no sound slipped past his lips. The strange silence bothered his caretakers, but it seemed to be a fixed feature of the wide-eyed infant.
He would not react to sound, unless it was like that of a percussion instrument. All other sound seemed to slip through him like the slightest breeze, leaving him unmoved and unresponsive. It was believed he might possibly be deaf, and more possibly mute.
A rainbow display of color would quicken his breath almost as effectively as sugar. His tiny fists would clench and open, as though trying to grab the colors for himself. Gentle sprockets were left to constantly bob along around him, like a sentient mobile on unseen strings.

Friskit-
Terribly sorry about the zombies. It seems a few strayed to close to the little ones, and well... Thorn ate one, and Austeruelaine sort of... poked one to pieces. Calaveras just stared at one, until it... um, cannibalized itself to death? Their collective appetites is a bit more voracious than we originally thought. Anywho, let us know what the damage is, and we'll make sure the bill gets paid in full. Oh, and do try and train them not to wander into the Casa area from now on? Thanks.

Omens A sign.
Still not a single sound escaped his lips, and no repsonse to sound without a strong vibration. Moorgahaine was more certain with each passing day that the tiny infant was both deaf and mute. He had begun teaching the boy very simple sign language, with varying degrees of success (there was only so much information an infant could process, after all). The first signed word Calaveras learned was "candy", which Moorgahaine had expected. But the second word... that was a bit more disturbing. He had not taught the boy this word, but it was known none the less.
"Death"

Signs A journal entry by Moorgahaine.
Calaveras continues to learn very basic sign language, and it has become a far easier task to know his needs because of it. He seems to fear sleep, nearly a phobia, actually. I can't say I've really seen him sleep with his eyes closed even once- although I have caught him sleeping with eyes open on a few occassions. Perhaps it is closing of the eyes, rather than the sleeping, that disturbs him. Showing such certain signs of deafness, I imagine finding another sense cut off would be horrifying. He aslo does not react well to the presence of Life Sprockets, although Entropy Sprockets seem quite welcomed. Quite a puzzling little boy, to say the least.

Developing A journal entry by Moorgahaine.
Calaveras has learned a few more signed words, and is proving to be quite the quick learner. His vocabularly has reached about a dozen words, and continues to make things much easier to tend to. His sweet tooth seems to know no limit, and anything with the slightest amount of sugar is received with boundless joy. He's very observant of his environment, and seems to have an exceptional visual memory. Despite the oddities and occassional strange moments, it really is quite nice to have him as a member of the household.

1+1=1 A journal entry by Moorgahaine.
As expected, Calaveras is as bemused and confuddled by my new singular appearance as the rest of the household. Watching after this group of little ones is a bit more complicated with only one body at my command. If not for Austerulous' assistance, I would be in quite the fix.
I bought Calaveras an assortment of skeleton/skull themed gifts for Christmas- hopefully he'll like them. It's a bit more difficult than one would think to get such morbid infant-safe toys (outside of Halloween season, at least). I think he'll be especially fond of the skull rattle.

Due to my offline work schedule becoming increasingly hectic, I must cut down the number of rp breedables I own. It is with great sadness I must return Calaveras to Amakusa_Ryu. It is my hope that he is re-homed... and requested that his previous timeline, journal, and experiences with me be erased. I wish Amakusa_Ryu much success in thier future endeavors, and thank Amakusa_Ryu for the opportunity to play such an enjoyable character. Sincerely, Moorgahaine
