The pity she'd felt before almost wanted to wash over her and completely swallow her whole. With a sigh, Chau stood and slid over to lay down beside her larger sister. With their sides pressed together and her head layed down on her paws before her so that her jade eyes could see what Kimiko said, Chau murred softly.
"It's okay Kimi... I forgive you. You aren't a horrible sister, I forgive you if you thought you were." It was a lie and she knew it and she knew that Kimiko knew it.
Peering down at the beautiful cub at her sister's paws, Chau stared with her soft jade eyes. It was an adorable cub.. she envied her sister for it in ways. Of course she had to admit her sister's luck for not getting a male.
"You don't think you can handle her? But..." Chau wanted to say 'but you're her mother.' but she refrained. She knew that there were some things that even SHE couldn't handle and maybe this was one of Kimi's.

Indeed, she knew it. But she wouldn't admit further. THe fact somebody was lying to make her feel better, especially somebody whom she'd treated so badly... It lifted her spirits a tad. She caught the trail-off of the other lioness' words and shook her head. "I know, but... I... I can't... Not now..." She just... Didn't feel right, raising another life. "And... I worry about her, when I leave her alone... She needs to... To be with somebody... Who can have a mate... So she's not alone.." Gold eyes turned to jade, pleading. "Please, Chau... Can you take her, raise her as your own?"

Peering at her sister's muzzle as she asked her this, Chau blinked her jade colored eyes sadly, imagining the pain her sister must have gone through to have this cub, the agony it must have been to know that the cubs father would never be around. To know that as a mother she'd already failed and despite having the chance to make it up... Kimiko wanted to give her baby away.
Of course Chau could understand this, she'd wanted away at one point, thought that she was nothing and deserved such.
"Yes Kimi... I promise you that I'll take her and raise her the best I can" Chau whispered. The very thought of doing it chilled her, but at least it was a little female. That made her happy. But it was her sister's cub, not hers. Could she do it?

She rubbed her head against her sister's, a rare show of affection. "Thank you, Chau... Please... Make sure she's NOTHING like me..." The black-marked lioness gave her daughter a lick between the ears, nuzzling her. "Grow up well, Masozi... Live your life better than I've lived mine." She got up, looking at her jade-eyed sister. "I... I hope we meet again... Sister..." She turned, heading for the horizon. She had sisters to apologize to and make amends with. One down, four to go. Only one last look was spared, long enough to whisper "Goodbye..." before she went on her way.
