Speaking of popularity, browsing a lot of japanese sites (For RenoXRod-from before crisis- pronz) I seemed dissapointed for awhile, because there seemed to be like a bajillion Aeris and Cleris fans. DX It made me kinda jealous, lol. I admit that. But then, later on I found a ton of Cloti Unions and Tifa unions and all this other Cloti related stuff. *_* It made me so happy.
I think there may be equal sides in Japan as well as the US about Cleri and Cloti?

Worldwide the popularity is most likely even.
I wonder how popular other pairings are (not Cloti or Cleris)? I think that YuffiexVincent are pretty popular.

Well I think that there is a clerith majority in japan because as I've mentioned on the cxa guild, that clerith really portrays japanese romance. Not to say any other types arent liked its just that's the majority. But I have noticed increasing Tifa fans after the release of advent children. Same goes for Zack after CC. ^^
Eh I dont think they are equal. I still believe us is more tifa and japan is more aerith from what I've seen. It's becoming apparent that people are starting to like them both now. <3

I don't know, man. When I was in Japan romance didn't seem like what the books told me it would be like.

Well, in Japan aren't they more modest when it comes to love? When guys court girls, it's not like "passionate love" or anything like that. I do agree with Pink...that there might be more Cleris fans in Japan than here but they don't show it as much because they're modest and therefore aren't rabid. xd Over here it's like murder. Say something that contradicts someone's beliefs and BAM! Squishified!
And yeah, I think the French would like Aeris better because of their taste in romance. xd

Mmmm.....in America......everyone has their own opinion. We don't exactly have a CULTURED opinion like Asians like this and Spanish like that. I think Americans are more practical....or tend to support something that seems more obviousish.....I don't know. I'm Asian. I may live in America, but I don't always know what Americans think. xd

I'm an American with roots to Ireland, England, Canada, and Germany. Thus I don't know squat about Asian or Hispanic romance. sweatdrop
Not that I know much about romance anyway (never had a boyfriend). xp

Well I just joined and read through this whole thread so far and there are a few things I have to say.
First, thanks for posting this thread and putting my title on it. I'm very honored.
Second - Pink I'm curious to know what you're doing on this guild? You don't even like this couple. In fact, you don't even like Tifa at all! So why would you be on a guild that supports a couple you can't stand?
Third, weather that article is old or not the point is that Cloud and Tifa are together, physically and romantically (no mater who doesn't want to believe it) I mean seriously, what does SE have to do to make it clear the CxT is cannon- Write CxT is cannon on the forehead of every Cleris in the world? I guess some people like denial rather then acceptance.
Fourth, Radical as my opinions may have been, they were all backed up by official evidence from SE. (Unlike some other people, that used proof from a certain Cleris fansite) Not to mention that most of it wasn't really my opinion anyway. If you read the thread again you'll see that most of what I have is directly from the horses mouth.
Anyway......... sweatdrop
Fifth, CxT and CxA are equally popular since the release of AC. Actually, CxT might even be taking an upper hand in the popularity polls since all the newer paring doujinshi feature mostly CxT and sometimes CxS CxZ or even CxK. Alot of the older doujinshi did seem to feature CxA though. To me there is nothing more telling about Japanese popularity then the doujinshis that come out.
And Sixth, I don't think the LTD or FF7 had much to do with Japanese culture anyway. I mean, just look at everything in the game. Their names were defiantly American or of European decent, their looks were American/European (In the game and official art), their clothing was very American/European looking, and even their Cites and Towns looked somewhat American. In fact, the only thing in FF7 that seems truly Japanese is Yuffie and her home town (and maybe Vincent. I'm not really sure) So if all of that was to the American/European side then what makes people think that the LTD was any different? That makes no sense to me. Sure it was made in Japan but almost nothing about FF7 seems to be very Japanese at all. Also, A lot of Japanese are acting like Americans now in every aspect of their lives (Including Love) And I know this because I actually have a Japanese boyfriend and he was just there visiting his family this past summer.
Well, that's all I had to say. I'm not trying to start a debit, I'm just straightening things out.

Oh Pink, it's "practical" not "pracital". xd
To Sara: I don't know much about romance either. xd I've never had a boyfriend, but I can understand the passion and emotions that go with it and how far it can ascend. 3nodding
That's true.....the makes of FFVII have assimilated American culture into the game as well as some European, Asian, some tribal aspects and etc...Though, when it comes to the perspective of romance, I'm not sure who's word to take it for. sweatdrop But I do have to agree with RxH. A lot of Asian cultures have readily began accepting Westernization, its morals and behavior. (I mean, in Vietnam which is a very poor country have teens dying their hair already. xd )
(Interesting, a Japanese boyfriend RxH? wink )

Anyway, he told me that Japanese relationships are very American now. Some in good ways and others not so good.
