DizzyDazeyDani [ Dark san ] I was kind of pissed off when I heard about that.
Dir en grey can do better. I've got nothing against Linkin Park, but they're old and Diru is new, so when the two come together and Diru is working for Linkin, I get a little ticked stressed Um, I wouldn't call Linkin Park old. They only formed a year before Diru did. And Diru is 10 years old, so I wouldn't call them new either.
But yeah, they definitely shouldn't be opening for people anymore. Diru's definitely popular enough to headline their own tour.

Im~All~Ears Well actually Dir en grey are only one year older than Linkin Park.
Plus, pretty much everyone knows that Diru are fans of Linkin Park so they probably see it as fantastic.
Not to mention, however you look at it, Dir en grey are NOT as famous/successful/however you want to put it as Linkin Park.
So I think it's good for them, it's not as if it's going to do anything amazing for their career because it's two shows, in Japan... I think it's just great because they get to play with a band they admire. i totally agree 3nodding i mean you can't just compare them together, it just doesn't go that way. plus, LP is like known all over the world and everything. they've done pretty well with good results. i'm just glad they get to play together. when i heard the news about them, i died!! actually, i screamed first and then dies lol 4laugh rofl

Dir en grey can do better. Really. They don't need Linkin to get a gig. Linkin Park should be opening Dir en grey's show evil I've got nothing against Linkin Park, but they're old and Diru is new, so when the two come together and Diru is working for Linkin, I get a little ticked stressed Diru's not really new... They have been around for like 10+ years. I mainly don't like it because I think it's bad enough they sound like LP on WTD.

I think it's just great because they get to play with a band they admire. I think both bands have reached an equal amount of countries and continents. And, if I remember correctly (been a while), Dir en grey is ******** NOTORIOUS in Japan. As many people know Dir en grey in Japan and East Asia as people in America and Europe know Linkin Park. If Dir en grey isn't as successful, for any major reason, it's because their American fans (maybe almost everyone nowadays?) are more susceptible to pirating everything--so the band profits much much less. Sorry for the mini-rant, I just didn't like the use of "however you look at it" and "NOT"--because you can "look at it" many different ways.

Yeah, they were awesome-tastic at FIRST, but now... xp blegh...

Yeah, they were awesome-tastic at FIRST, but now... xp blegh... I know what you mean. The first linkin park song I heard was in the end (a good 5 years ago, maybe?), and I thought it was awesome. but then when I heard the entire hybrid theory album, I was like,"Wtf? it all sounds the same rolleyes " so yeah, I got tired of them pretty quick after just one album, because all their songs sound so similar. Every time you hear one of their songs (even if it's a different one each time), it's like listening to the same song, and it then becomes overplayed.

unfortunately Dir isn't as popular even in their homeland as Linkin Park is. Maybe a few years ago they were notorious, but now not that many members of the general public know about them. So this might actually get them some new fans smile
also, they *will* be playing pretty close to Christmas in Tokyo, for whoever asked that, on the tour with 10 years...

I mean how could they go from totally popular in a few years to not many people knowing about them. What? Did all the people who knew about them before die or something? And who is it exactly that continues to buy tickets to their show in Japan if not that many people in Japan know about them? Or is this just how it seems from your perspective?

the music scene in Japan changes so radically and so quickly that artists become popular and then are forgotten about just as quickly, which is more or less what happened with Dir. They got kind of mainstream for a while, a long time ago, but since then people have forgotten. That kind of thing happens to bands all the time though, not just in Japan and not just to Dir. Also, the concert halls they play aren't really that big. The vary, of course, but are usually around 2000 or less in capacity.
I base my idea that the average Japanese person doesn't know or care about Dir because I have asked a looooot of Japanese people about it, hoping to find someone who will know. Outside of those people I met through friends, at lives, or through Dir-related communities online, I have met all of one person who actually knew what I was talking about when I told him I liked Dir en grey. The common response is, "You mean GLAY?"
So I guess it is from my perspective, but then my perspective is the only one I happen to be in possession of. I've lived in Japan for a while and talked to a lot of people about the band, and thats what I came up with.

I've lived in Japan for a while and talked to a lot of people about the band, and thats what I came up with. At the same time here in the US you could probably go around asking random people if they like Linkin Park. That doesn't mean you will actually find any, because in the grand scheme of the entire population, even if they only have 1,000,000 fans (which is still enough to get a platinum record if each one of them buys an LP cd, which is of course quite an accomplishment), that's still not a lot. Therefor the odds of you actually running into one are slim. Does that mean that Linkin Park isn't popular? no. It just means that their fans are not the majority of the population. But then, I don't know any recording artist who does have majority popularity. And as I said before, what do you think happened to all of the people who were listening to them before? Did they just all die or something?
