She continued to advance upon the wild dog up until the point the creature turned and fled in the other direction. Thoughts of pursuing Lela ceased to exist... at least up until the point that Lela howled a warning to her pack. Baala visibly grimaced, anger rising back up in her. She would kill that mutt for setting her pack on her. She would find Lela and tear muscle from bone, bone from sockets. She would make Lela scream in pain and fear for her foolishness. If Lela was part of the pack that came to investigate Baala's appearance, she would not hesitate to attack. No, Lela deserved just that for being a stupid dog! She would have chased after Lela if her life had not been at risk. But, the longer she stayed in the dog's territory, the higher risk she had of being caught. Baala would not return to Kiuma in pieces, would not put Kiuma through that sort of suffering.

With an infuriated growl, she watched Lela as the other began to dissolve into the distance. Turning around, she then fled, her small body moving surprisingly fast through the wild dog's territory. She doubted they would chase her after their boundary lines. It wasn't characteristic dog behavior to leave their homelands, not when they had pups in the den (which they nearly always did). Baala would be safe as soon as she passed over the boundary line... and that was something she was sure she would do. She was not too deep in the territory, so it was a guarantee that Baala would make it without getting caught. She would live... and possibly with the idea of revenge stuck in her head.
