Zizima was somewhat impressed by the Firekin's resolve. "My mother did me a favour by eventually choosing the Pride over me. Had I remained there and been discovered, no doubt I would've been killed or forced into slavery." He snickered. "Perhaps attacking me was the only way she could get me to leave without me wanting to return. I'll never know." The muscular lion shook his head. "The fact that there's still Firekin around that would choose the Pride over their own flesh and blood tells me that their ways are coming to an end either way."

As Kidondo went on, Zizima continued to listen. He was surprised that allowing Ripuka to live was seen as a good thing, but then, she was most likely the best example of Firekin brain-washing there was. "I believe you will achieve what you're setting out to do...but, I'm afraid I can't support the reformation of the Firekin, no matter what shape it takes." Zizima knew all too well that this situation was not black and white. If it were, he would gladly help. The way he saw it though, he would be tearing down an empire simply to allow another to take its place. "You haven't given me a single reason that I would consider good enough to justify the reformation of such a Pride."

"I'd like to believe your mother had good intentions." He eyed the male with a nod. Yes. He was sure that was the case.

"But you are right. I haven't." He pondered. "Maybe my reasons for this are selfish. I am gathering rogues to help me fight and to help us with problems soon to come. But I ask all of them if they want to join and they are free to leave at any time. I had a feeling you wouldn't but when you hear news of our success - because I am sure we will - then I would be honoured if you came to visit. Halfbloods and rogues will be euqal in my reign. Slaves will be freed and Finar-Si forgotten."

He smiled. "In my reign there will be no more lazy, fat Firekin. I intend to make us strong again, though we will be strong because of ourselves, not because of some blessings down to some mysterious Goddess who has obviously forgotten us."

He bowed his head. "But if we never see each other again I am glad we met. I will not forget you."

Zizima rarely thought about his mother, but he had always liked the idea that she had attacked him because she feared for his life, rather than fearing how her position within the pride would be affected. Even if that wasn't the case though, he believed the love she had had for him as a cub was genuine.

"Good luck." He said finally. The idea of returning to the desert, even for a simple visit, was something he would have to think long and hard about. What if he were to return after Kidondo's success, only to find that there were still many similiarities to the old pride? Only time would tell if everything Kidondo had spoke of would ring true in the end.

"If you find that the sand of the desert burns your paws as it did mine, you should visit the coast. The sand there is soft, and the sea makes for a much more pleasant horizon than the endless dunes of the Firekin lands." Zizima wanted Kidondo to succeed, yet he found himself inviting the rogue Firekin to the place that he called home. He knew that the traditionalists would not go down without a fight, so if Kidondo didn't find enough rogues to help his cause, he was unsure what would happen.

"Maybe I shall happen upon your sands again before my time is up. I do hope so." It wasn't often that he thought of his life as ending but talking aboout the death of his father made it all too apparent. This task could cost him his own life too.

He stood and glanced in the direction he was sure that No was in.

"I wish you luck in life, Zizima, and remember my invitation if you are ever in need of it."

And the Firekin moved off, pausing to glance back over his shoulder, black mane draping over his huge, red shoulders. "Farewell my friend." There was something that joined them now. What it was he wasn't sure, but he knew he would always remember this meeting. Maybe it was respect, maybe it was something else. Either way, it had only fuelled Kidondo to go on.

It showed him that his path was indeed the right one.

And he turned and moved off, his heart higher than it had been before.

Zizima didn't speak as Kidondo headed off, he simply nodded. He wasn't sure either what it was about this Firekin that made him actually want to take him up on his invitation, but he certainly hoped that this would not be the last he heard of Kidondo.

Once the large red figure was just a dot on the distance, Zizima turned and headed back in the direction of the coast. He had much to think about, so he may as well do it at the place he considered to be his home.

(( heart Yus, I'd definatly like them to meet again once all this plot is done. smile Thanks luff! ))
