The fact that they had the Grandma talking like that was funny. The commercial was about texting. What else are the gonna do, but show you the phone and make you read what it is they're texting?

sayaandtenshi I almost punched my TV when I saw that commecial. (Yes I do have anger issues.) The grandmother pissed me off more than anything. I don't understand why the mother doesn't just take away all their cellphones and just have a land line so that they can't text to anyone. No, you see, they can't do that. One: They're doing it to advertise that their specific texting plan is the least expensive, and two: That would make too much sense. The simple, American mind would melt under such pressure of common sense.

I saw that. I thought that was really stupid.
It makes me glad that my Grandma just hardly even knows how to dial people on her cell phone.

I agree, the use of text talk in a commercial was very unappealing to my ears, and obviously your ears as well. However, the point of using that is to gain a humor value. While we may not find it funny, a majority will, and thus that majority gives that company positive attention. Then, the reason for the grandmother, is to imbed a certain feeling in your mind, a feeling that that phone, and texting isn't just for young people, but that adults, and even elders can join in the "fun".
Again, I agree that that commercial was an appalling display of our populations decreasing intelligence, however, their strategy did work, and it was a smart strategy to use. Point made.

There goes all that was left of America's dignity. We were talking about it in school a while back and I was the ONLY one who hated it.

edit:
you did the wrong grammar. it's "Does this scare anyone else?" or "Is this scary to anyone else?":edit over//
It's really scary to me. Grandma's? Are they just saying to kids "Oh, you can run up a texting bill so you live in a cardboard box! We don't care what happens to you! We just want money!"? Hahaha!

I thought it was funny the first time, but now I've seen it like 200 times and I've realised that it's just really really stupid.
