"It's a lost cause if you've already given up on it." She said simply, giving him a sharp look. "Even if there is only one of your clan, that's still something, and there's still hope. Blood matters very little." She got herself up, walking over to him and placing a paw right in the center of his chest. "Blood only runs as deep as the heart allows. I'm hardly a pridelander if you look at bloodlines."
She lowered her paw to the ground, arching her neck, "But while I was there I was no more or less of a pridelander. What you are is defined by one thing alone- yourself. I have offered to stay here, to show you how to hunt. Malik...I'm not sure he'll ever see this place as his home- or any place to be quite honest - but he's not going anywhere if I'm not. Make use of this knowledge and what resources you have. A huntress, a wise lion, and a mindless brute." She smirked a bit, bringing her paw under Ona's chin to tip it up, "All in time."

He looked into those vibrant eyes of hers. He had never seen eyes like that before. They were so kindly, so wise and yet so piercing. They burned with inteligence yet softened as easily as they hardened. They were the most expressive, beautiful things he had ever seen.
He cleared his throat, suddenly feeling awkward. That strange, warm tingling feeling started in his belly and made his legs wobble.
"We define ourselves?" He wasn't sure he understood, but he wanted to. "Like how you will stay and be an ela'wadiyi lioness?" He pondered. "I am an ela'wadiyian male because that is what I am. If I went to the Pridelands or anywhere else, I'd still be an Ela." He replied. "But that's what I want to be. This is my home. My heritage and my right. Everything I have to live for is right here. Everything I care for is right here. The trees, the sky, the mountains, Malik and Kucha and especially..." He paused then continued. "Especially you Rehema." Did that sound stupid?

"We define ourselves." She said again firmly, "You are what your heart tells you to be. You can expect nothing less from me." She flicked her tail. Bloodlines had little to do with anything. It defined family, yes, it defined how one appeared, their size, and the color of their pelt. Nothing more. If she fell into the mentality of her own bloodline she might as well sit and pick fleas from her back end for the rest of her life while starving between mouthfuls of hare and birds.
She was caught off guard by his last statement, and she looked it. She couldn't help but smile a bit, letting the seriousness of her words slip a bit. "Likewise." She said simply, giving a soft chuckle.
"Let's discuss this over dinner... Malik's likely pacing by now."

"Agreed." He coiled his tail around hers and gave it a gentle tug, releasing the hold as he moved back to the carcass. He felt strangely happy that she felt the same, happier than perhaps he should have. It felt nice. It felt safe and warm. He liked Rehema perhaps more than he knew.
Turning those thoughts away briefly, he fixed his powerful jaws around the dead animal's neck and began to tug. The muscles in his body strained under its weight but he managed to drag it a little, though the action was slow.
He peeked up at Rehema through the corner's of his eyes, hoping silently that she would help him.

"If ya girls are done kissin'." Malik grumbled as he plodded himself out of the grass. It was kind of hard to spot him as well, his golden pelt was a perfect shade for blending in with the dry grass. "Ya had me up dere all alone wit dat damnable bird... ya know how much self-control it takes not tah eat it!?" He glanced between Ona and the kill, then to Rehema, "....e do dat?"
"More or less." She chuckled, walking herself past the two with a playful flick of her tail along Ona's nose, "Right on time. We're a bit tired. You can carry it back."
"But-"
"That wasn't a requst." She snapped, turning back around to give Malik a dirty look.
"Yeah...uh right." He puffed his chest out, padding himself over to the kill, "Ease up kid, I got it."

He smiled and laughed, happy that Malik was here to help lighten the load but said nothing to show himself up. He glanced between Malik and Reh. They were so close. Best friends. Practically brother and sister.
Wait!
That was it!
This warm, happy feeling he was experienceing around Rehema. Maybe it was normal. Maybe everyone felt like that when they were around friends. He'd ask Malik! Malik would know everything.
"Okay." He dropped his kill and stepped back. "Don't hurt your back." He joked. Then, lowering his voice. "Hey, do you mind if I...talk to you later?"

Rehema walked herself ahead of the small group, keeping an eye on the herd of antelope as they bounced off into the distance. Just white spots hopping around towards the bright skyline.
Malik, however, hesitated in grabbing the kill as Ona approached him. One of his ears rotated forward a bit. "I hauled Rehemy's big ol' self 'ere, ya think dis gazelle's gonna give me a problem?" He snorted, opening his mouth to grab the kill but paused once more, glancing up at the second question. "...uh....sure whatevah..." He shrugged.

Relieved that Malik was up for a chat, Ona nodded, smiling. "Okay, well...when Rehema is sleeping or...away somewhere. I'll come and find you." Unsure whether he should help or not he hesitated then decided to go and chat to Reh about hunting techniques. He might as well fill up the time with learning.
And as he trotted back to her he felt that feeling again. It made him happy just being close to her. It made him ver, very happy.
