A hint of a smile was about to spread across Leilani's face, as it was kinda fun to drag Tyra around the pool. And it was more efficient than her flailing and splashing. Then, it was over.
She was about to turn to say something to the other girl and then Tyra started yelling and waving..... and completely freaked the poor feebas out! Leilani squeaked in alarm and instinctively dove into the water and skittered away. Close by, she peeked her head out, to watch Tyra. In her worry, all her attention was on the green child and not on her Mama who was walking closer.
Echo flinched when the green girl waved her over. This one was definately loud and exciteable. She was wondering hor Leilani was coping.... oh, there she was, a little distance away and obviously fighting the urge to swim away.
With the grace of any other with two legs, Echo twirled on the pool bench and then walked over, her book page saved and the novel held in her hands. "Coming, coming!" she said, trying to calm the girl.
Finally, at the pools edge, the woman leaned down closer to the girls' level. "Yes? Can I do something for ya?" Echo's face held a gentle and encouraging smile. It was as much for Leilani as it was for the girl she addressed.

Surprised by the splash Tyra looked over to where Leilani had suddenly dissapeared she then resurface a bit away. Not realizing that the girl had fled because of her loudness she assumed she must be a bit scared of her mother. turning back to Echo who was now leaning towards her she took a deep breath and smiled.
Echo didn't look like a scary woman, but all the same. . .
"Hello Leilani's mother!" she said in her enthusiastic tone though much quiter since she no longer needed to yell to get the womans attention.
"My name is Tyra. My mama is over there." she said pointing to the red head who was coming in their direction, "I was wondering if Leilani can come over to my house to play!" she continued taking another breath as if she had just run out.

Leilani was ever so slowly creeping back. She didn't say anything, didn't want her new 'friend' to get excitable and loud again. The girl was fighting her instincts, and at this point doing a rather good job at it, too!
Echo saw the fish-girl and was secretly proud of the girl. The woman knew it wasn't easy for Leilani to be around -anyone- for so long. She was still looking down at Tyra, "My name is Echo." The woman peeked up for a moment to look in the direction of 'Tyra's Mama' and then looked back down at the green girl with floaty wings.
"Right now?" Her gentle smile was replaced by a slight furrow. She had some contract work to do that day, and she wasn't quite ready to let Leilani be off on her own just yet. ".... or if you mean another day soon, that would be acceptable if your Mama agrees."

Tyra hadn't thought she could actually take Leilani with her right this moment. She looked excited though her leaf wilted when Echo mama said perhaps another day. But another day still meant yes. Her leaf bounced back wiggling around in excitement. She looked over to the Feeba's girl her smile wide.
"Your mama says you can come over another day!" she squealed happily before turning back to face her mother who was now amoungst them.
"Mama Mama! Can Leilani come over to play sometime soon?" she asked splashing around to get her hold back on the ledge.
Jayoku looked down at Tyra, her gaze flickering to the other girl she assumed must be Leilani. The girl was...nervous. she felt bad for her. But she soon refocused back on her own little girl,
"Why don't you let Leilan's mother and I talk about it? Go and play now hun cause we will be going shortly." she announced before turning to face Echo.
"Hi, my name is Jayoku." she said offering a hand to the woman before her.
Tyra full of energy as always flailed around trying to turn so that she was facing Leilani.
"Come on! Lets go play more! ...Can you drag me around the pool again? That was really fun! Your swim so much faster than me! I can pretend I am the one actually swimming!" she giggled before readjusting the many necklaces around her neck.

Echo smiled at the girl's crazy antics. She'd be a good influence, the woman thought - help shy Leilani out of that scaled shell of her's. And then another woman came by, who was introduced - sorta- as little Tyra's mother.
She stood and firmly shook Jayoku's hand. "I'm Echo. And I guess you could say I'm with Leilani." Echo smiled and gave a nod to the child swimming back across the pool. "I can give you some information, if you like, so we can discuss things further about the girls getting together again?"
The woman motioned to the nearby seating area where her bookbag was waiting.
Leilani, happy for the chance to see Tyra again - and that she wants to be around her! - hand taken a careful hold to the green girl's hand and pulled her around the pool. For her own standards, the way was slow and choppy, her rythm disrupted... but for anyone else it would still have been smooth sailing.
After a little while, Leilani shifted, her body getting tired and a bit irritated from the awkward pulling. "Tyra...." she started, unsure of how to bring the matter up. "Uh.... could you, eh..... maybe." She had stopped and turned in the water to look at her new 'friend'. "Hold on to my waist?' A slight pinkish blush came to her molted skin. "I want to try something?"

Jayoku smiled as her little girl went off to play. Though she really need to work on the inside outside voice. Even outside voice shouldn't be as loud as she was.....
"Nice to meet you Echo." Jayoku said as she walked with the woman. "Yes I think we will have to give each our numbers and set up a playdate for the girls. That is...is Trya hasn't frightened to poor child away. I do apologize she just gets really excited...she doesn't mean any harm." she said looking a bit worn out despite the fact that she truely did adore her daughter.
Tyra was thrilled to actually be moving around the pool swiftly and easily! Giggling away as she was tugged long she let her vines go out beside her and trial along to make more ripples.
When she found herself slowing down she gave the feebas girl a happy look.
"That was so much fun!" she squealed and then went silent as the girl spoke. She was quiet. It seemed to take her entire focus to listen. If she noticed the blush she didn't say anything about it but nodded her head.
"Want my hands to? Or my vines? Which would work better? What do you want to try? Will it be fun? I bet it will! You are a lot of fun to play with!" she babbeled sounding like being silent for a whole thirty seconds meant she had to make up for the lack of silence by talking even more.

Echo grinned, pulling a small piece of paper out of her bookbag. She flipped it over and put another number on the back. Then, she handed the card to Jayoku. "Here's my card, and my cellphone number is on the back. I don't use our land-line very often."
"Nah," she waved off the woman's concerns. "Leilani's pretty shy, and it looks like your Tyra's been able to break through her walls."
Leilani didn't know she was being talked about. Instead she quietly directed Tyra as to how to she wanted her to put her vines and hands. The end result was the weight better balanced and as aerodynamic the two would get (thoght she didn't know that) in this position. It also freed up the feebas's hands.
"Now...." Leilani giggled, "...hold on!"
As she said that, the girl gave a burst of speed. The two of them were off, and they sped around the pool. It wasn't the fastest Leilani could go - there was too much weight and resistance.
She went to one side and then they other where they started - in no time at all. When they stopped, the girl was tired, for it had taken a lot of energy out of her. Leilani was smiling and giggling in her own quiet way.

Jayoku felt a bit relieved, Tyra could be a handful at times but the green skinned girl always meant to be nice to others. Even if she didn't realize not everyone liked her.
Taking the piece of paper she flipped it over when the cell number was mentioned, nodding in understand about not using the landline. She had both, but she found she rarely answered her cell...mostly cause she could never hear the blasted thing ring.
"Ah do you have something I could write my number down on? I don't have business cards like you." Jay explained wishing she did have cards.
This was probably as close to water skiing that Tyra was going to get. But by her very excited gleeing sounds it was easy to tell that she was having fun. The spray! the rush! She certainly would be trying out real water skiing once she knew the sport existed.
When the slowed down even Tyra was out of breath, though for her it was from squealing in delight.
"WOW I knew you could swim well but you swim soooo fast too!" she said beaming as she released her hands and vines from the feebas girl and bobbed like a cork in the water.
"You must win a lot of swimming competitions!" she continued not realizing that the poor girl probably was to shy to be in a competition.

Echo nodded and pulled out an address book that had many blank pieces of paper. She also handed Jayoku a pen with a shy look - so, she had quite a bit of stuff in her bag. "I do."
Leilani had slowly swam to the steps at the shallow end and sat down. "No.... no..." She shook her head slowly, wet tangles of hair clinging to her face. No competitions for her, that was too much attention. The girl preferred to swim on her own and for the joy of it.
The woman looked at the watch on her wrist. "Aw," she looked at Leilani at the other side of the pool. It was about time for them to go so they would meet their appointment. "We may have to go soon," Echo sighed.

Jayoku took the pen and jotted down her name, her daughters name and their home and cell number. Drawing a cute little rabbit head beside it she smiled and handed the utensils back and then nodded her head.
"Aye otherwise I will have a prune for a daughter instead." she giggled giving a wave over to her daughter.
"Tyra! Come on we have to go hun!" she called out hoping the girl could hear her.
Tyra wondered why Leilani didn't want to be in competitions. She thought the girl could do really well. She was still having fun though so that was all that mattered! She paused as she heard faintly the sound of her mothers voice.
Looking over her shoulder she made a sound of disappointment and then looked back to the Feebas girl.
"Looks like my ma is calling me...i think I may have to go." she said looking rather sad about that fact. She was having a lot of fun with the girl.

Echo nodded as she put the booklet and pen away. "I will be sure to call!" The woman put her jacket on, hoisted her bag, grabbed a towel and then stood up as Jayoku called her own girl over.
Of course, Echo couldn't do that. Well, she could but it would be horribly embarassing for Leilani to have to crawl to her. With a slight smile, the woman watched as Tyra scurried back to her own mama. "It was nice meeting you, Tyra," Echo grinned as Tyra passed by her.
After watching the two leave, she walked over to where her little Leilani waited.
Leilani had watched Tyra leave, a wistful look sparking in her eyes from behind her hair. As Echo came by and took the girl in her towel-protected arms, the girl reached around and held her mother's neck for balance as she was dried off.
"An interesting character," Leilani whispered very quietly. Already, the influence Tyra was was wearing off.
Echo tweaked the girl's nose, "Did you like her?"
"Very much," the girl nodded as she then curled in the towel for warmth.
"Good, good," Echo was smiling as they walked out as well to face the world together.
